  • Publication number: 20040240776
Abstract: The invention relates to a sensor arrangement for seat occupation detection, comprising a fiber-optic sensor network consisting of at least two sensors. The sensor network detest for example local damping modifications in a fiber network that are caused by microbends or modifications of the Bragg wavelength of fiber-optic Bragg grating sensors (FBGS) distributed in the fiber network that are ceased by loads. The optical sensor network is resistant to electromagnetic parasitic inductions. Due to the nature of the optical lass or polymer optical fibers it is for example possible to integrate the network into the textile cover of the seat or into a cushion.

  • Patent number: 6805874
Abstract: The invention provides methods of dermatological basic treatment including the steps of pre-treating the skin with a composition that comprises a mild anti-microbial agent, a buffer that adjusts the skin pH to slightly acidic and an agent that forms a protective layer on the skin. This basic treatment has the effect of extraordinarily mild cleansing and sanitizing, restoring lipids, and providing a protective coating to the skin. Basic treatment may be followed by appropriate dermatological therapy. The invention further provides suitable compositions to be used in the dermatological basic treatment.

  • Publication number: 20040070752
Abstract: In a method for monitoring of polymer in a liquid state, such as a polymer melt or resin, to detect inhomogeneities therein, such as the presence of other phase objects, especially gels in a matrix formed of the liquid state, the polymer in a liquid state flowing past an inspection point is monitored. At the inspection point, electromagnetic radiation in the form of UV light or polarised electromagnetic radiation is passed through the flow chamber (1) and received by a detector (8), and the absorption of the UV light or the changes in the state of polarisation of the electromagnetic radiation caused by the inhomogeneities are used to observe them.

  • Patent number: 6678448
Abstract: The invention concerns an opto-electronic connector system with a plug 1 and a receptacle 2. The plug 1 includes a tube shaped housing 3 with an area for introduction or output of an optical signal as well as at least one opto-electronic and/or electro-optical transformer 8a, 8b and a therewith associated optical element 7 for beam guidance. Beyond this, electrical contacts 10 for input or output of an electrical signal are provided, which are connected with the one or more transformers (8a, 8b) via amplifier stage 9a, 9b. The tube shaped housing 3 is preferably in the form a cylinder or truncated cone, which engages in a corresponding recess 4 in the receptacle 2 when in the connected condition. The receptacle 2 is adapted for integration on a circuit board. The opto-electronic connector system has been found to be particularly small in its external dimensions.

  • Publication number: 20030209510
Abstract: A method for sealing a pouring opening of a container and a container with corresponding structure are described. A sealing element formed of a flat laminated material that covers the pouring opening is connected peripherally of said pouring opening, preferably by welding, to a rim portion of the container. Furthermore, the sealing element is connected e.g. by adhesion, to a lid covering the pouring opening of a closure capmounted on the container. The adherence force of the connection between the closure cap and the sealing element is greater than that between the sealing element and the rim portion of the container. In order to break the sealing element away from the rim portion of the container, the lid must be pivoted away. The arrangement consisting of a container and a closure cap is particularly suitable for storing powdery chemical substances, such as are used e.g. in photographic developing equipment.

  • Patent number: 6536451
Abstract: The frontloading dishwasher has a dishwashing compartment and a door mounted on the machine body such that it can be pivoted about a horizontal axis for closing a loading opening of the dishwashing compartment. The bottom border of an inner wall of the door, forming a door lip, engages behind a compartment skirt that rises from the dishwashing-compartment base. A seal is arranged between the door and the dishwashing compartment. The seal includes a sealing strip that extends across the entire door width. Satisfactory sealing of the dishwasher is ensured over a long period of use, dirt deposits in the sealing region are avoided, and only a low level of force for moving the door is required in that a guide and securing device for the seal is provided, for securing the seal in the rest position and for guiding the seal during movement of the door.

  • Publication number: 20030004089
Abstract: A perfume tester comprises a test strip made of an absorbent material that is wetted with perfume. An end area of the test strip (3) is fixed inside a pouch (1) made of plastic films (1.1, 1.2). Above this end area, the pouch (1) comprises a specified rupture line (6), which extends over the width of the pouch and which tears along the longitudinal axis of the test strip (3) when the ends (4.5) of the pouch (1) are subjected to tensile stress thereby exposing a significant portion of the test strip (3). The inventive perfume tester can be easily produced and is well-suited for all channels of distribution. The impregnated test strip is protected against direct finger contact thereby enabling several successive smelling tests to be carried out without the test strip becoming adulterated.
