  • Patent number: 7395347
Abstract: Improved techniques are provided for detecting and correcting errors and skew in inter-cluster communications within computer systems having a plurality of multi-processor clusters. The local nodes of each cluster include a plurality of processors and an interconnection controller. Intra-cluster links are formed between the local nodes, including the interconnection controller, within a cluster. Inter-cluster links are formed between interconnection controllers of different clusters. Intra-cluster packets may be serialized and encapsulated as inter-cluster packets for transmission on inter-cluster links, preferably with link-layer encapsulation. Each inter-cluster packet may include a sequence identifier and error information computed for that packet. Clock data may be embedded in symbols sent on each bit lane of the inter-cluster links. Copies of transmitted inter-cluster packets may be stored until an acknowledgement is received.

  • Patent number: 7394291
Abstract: A high voltage tolerant output buffer uses a substrate voltage control circuit to control the voltage at the substrate of the transistors in the output buffer. The circuitry of output buffer is such that the voltage between any two terminals of any of the transistors is not allowed to exceed the supply voltage of the output buffer. At the same time, the voltage at the source or drain of transistors of output buffer is not allowed to increase beyond its substrate voltage. The proposed circuit for output buffer can tolerate voltages higher than the voltage at which it is operated. The novel circuitry uses less hardware and prevents power dissipation in the circuit.

  • Publication number: 20080152123
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for facilitating ringing of one or more dual mode communication devices and one or more fixed communication devices in an IP-based communication system. The method comprises receiving a first invite message corresponding to an incoming call for dual mode communication device or the fixed communication device. The method further comprises determining whether the dual mode communication device and the fixed communication device are located within a predetermined area. When the dual mode communication device and the fixed communication device are located within a predetermined area, the method determines whether a simultaneous ringing feature is active. If the simultaneous ringing feature is active, both the dual mode communication device and the fixed communication device are allowed to join the incoming call simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20080155280
Abstract: A method to reduce idle leakage power in I/O pins of an integrated circuit using external circuitry. Initially, I/O pins on a package are subdivided into those that will also remain powered up and those that will power down during idle state. When a system enters a low power mode, a signal is sent to the external circuitry. The signal notifies the I/O pins that always remain powered up to notify the external circuitry to power down the other set of I/O pins.

  • Publication number: 20080155672
Abstract: Systems, methods, devices, and computer program products are provided for providing a user with access to information stored in a datastore. A multimodal system operatively coupled to the datastore is configured to communicate with the user via a user device. The multimodal system is configured to receive a request from the user to communicate with the user through a user interface of the user device. In response to the received request, the multimodal system generates a multimodal document. The generated multimodal document includes instructions allowing for communication with the user using a plurality of different user interface modalities that may be available on a user device. The multimodal system then serves the multimodal document to the user device using a communication interface.

  • Publication number: 20080155334
Abstract: A method of testing a process that has undergone modification. The process consists of multiple steps, and execution of the process involves interaction with multiple interfacing systems. A step consists of, e.g., sending a transmission to an interfacing system. The process is executed in normal fashion by sending transmissions to interfacing systems and obtaining responses to the transmissions from the interfacing systems. The transmissions and the responses thereto obtained from the interfacing systems are stored in a simulator. After the process is modified by modifying a step of the process, the modified process is executed in such a manner that transmissions are sent to the simulator rather than to the interfacing systems. The simulator sends responses to the transmissions. It is determined whether the responses received from the simulator are the expected responses, based on the modification made to the process.

  • Publication number: 20080155287
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention may use a single control line signal as both a wake up signal and as an indicator of a device selection command. In a command-based protocol on a non-volatile memory bus, a host memory controller may assert a signal on a control line to bring all the memory devices on the bus into an operational mode, while concurrently placing a device selection command on the input/output lines. The memory device selected by the selection command may remain operational to perform a sequence of operations as directed by the host controller. The remaining (non-selected) memory devices may return to a sleep mode until a new signal on the control line is received, indicating a new selection command.

  • Patent number: 7390661
Abstract: A bidirectional module for activation of gene expression and regulation of transcription in both directions is disclosed. The bidirectional module comprises multiple cis regulatory DNA sequence elements, strategically arranged to give a ‘Transcription Activating Module’ that achieves high level expression from a ‘Transcription Initiation Module’. The latter functions like a minimal promoter. The former activates transcription simultaneously in both the directions from the latter and also responds to several transcription inducing, external stimuli in both the directions. Since it is an artificially designed bidirectional transcription module, it has no equivalent DNA sequence in plant genome. This reduces the chances of the genes from being silenced by homology based mechanisms. A bidirectional promoter module as this, can therefore be used to develop efficient vectors for genetic engineering in plants.

  • Publication number: 20080148148
Abstract: A notification system, upon receiving an indication of an event, determines whether the user has requested to suppress event notifications. When the user has requested to suppress event notifications, the notification system suppresses the event notification by not notifying the user of the event. When the user has not requested to suppress event notifications, the notification system infers whether the user wants to suppress event notifications. When the notification system infers that the user does not want to suppress event notifications, the notification system provides to the user a normal event notification. When the notification system infers that the user does want to suppress event notifications, the notification system provides to the user a modified event notification.
