  • Publication number: 20090049172
Abstract: A method and apparatus for joining a plurality of nodes to a cluster. Each node in the cluster maintains a respective membership list identifying each active member node of the cluster. Membership change messaging is managed relative to multiple concurrent start requests to ensure that a first node is added to the respective membership lists before broadcasting a membership change message (MCM) in response to which, the nodes of the cluster, inclusive of the first node, add the second node to the respective membership lists.

  • Patent number: 7490815
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a delivery system or apparatus for the production, evaporation or release and wide dispersion of volatile materials using an electromechanical transducer or electromechanical transducer, wherein the transition from droplets to the molecular level of the volatile material is assisted by an air disturbance generator. By increasing the rate of droplet disintegration and the emission or release of the volatile materials, higher detection of the less volatile components is achieved, resulting in higher volatile material concentration and improved hedonics, thus delivering an improved method of dispensing such volatile materials. The system is highly energy efficient and capable of battery operation.

  • Patent number: 7490218
Abstract: A microarchitecture and instruction set that supports multiple, simultaneously executing threads. The approach is disclosed in regard to its applicability in connection with a recently developed microarchitecture called “WaveScalar.” WaveScalar is a compiler that breaks a control flow graph for a program into pieces called waves having instructions that are partially ordered (i.e., a wave contains no back-edges), and for which control enters at a single point. Certain aspects of the present approach are also generally applicable to executing multiple threads on a more conventional microarchitecture. In one aspect of this approach, instructions are provided that enable and disable wave-ordered memory. Additional memory access instructions bypass wave-ordered memory, exposing additional parallelism. Also, a lightweight, interthread synchronization is employed that models hardware queue locks. Finally, a simple fence instruction is used to allow applications to handle relaxed memory consistency.

  • Publication number: 20080307488
Abstract: Systems and methods authenticate a device to operate within an enterprise system with an enterprise policy. An agent, installed on the device, analyzes the device to determine profile information of the device. The determined profile information is sent to a type 2 super peer that verifies whether the profile information conforms to the enterprise policy. If the profile information conforms to the enterprise policy, an agent trust credential is generated, within the type 2 super peer, for the agent, based upon the profile information, and issued to the agent. Authenticity of the device is verified based upon the agent trust credential. If the device is authenticated, communications with the device are permitted. If the device is not authenticated, communications with the device is prevented. In another embodiment, a method restores a device to conform to a system policy. A snapshot of critical components of the device is taken while the device is in compliance with the system policy.

  • Publication number: 20080295745
Abstract: A table has two end legs arranged in a parallel, laterally spaced apart relationship for support on a floor surface. Two side rails are arranged in a parallel, laterally spaced apart relationship, and are connected with upper portions of the end legs to retain them in an upright orientation, defining a self-supported table frame without intermediate bracing between the side rails, with a central, vertically extending widow. Top support members are connected with the side rails and protrude outwardly therefrom in a cantilevered fashion. A top member is supported on and connected with the table frame and the top support members, defining a plurality of workstations. A utility module configured to route utilities is positioned within the window of the frame, with opposite sides abuttingly supported on the side rails to removably mount the utility module on the frame and thereby accommodate different utility requirements at the workstations.

  • Publication number: 20080280348
Abstract: The invention provides a process for hydrolytically converting aloeresin A to aloesin by the following reaction: The amount of aloesin available for extraction from sap of aloe plants is thereby increased and the extraction and purification of the aloesin is also made easier and less costly. As aloesin is more commercially valuable than aloeresin A, the process also increases the commercial value of the sap or aloe bitters from the aloe plant. The process optionally also includes the step of separating the aloesin from the p-coumaric acid. Typical hydrolysis steps that are used in the process are acid hydrolysis, base hydrolysis and enzymatic hydrolysis. In the case of acid hydrolysis, the acid is any suitable organic or inorganic acid, such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid or phosphoric acid. In the case of enzymatic hydrolysis, the hydrolytic enzyme is typically an esterase, a lipase or a protease.

  • Patent number: 7433300
Abstract: Many storage-area networks (SANs) were developed to facilitate high-speed storage of large quantities of digital data. However, at least some conventional SANs present increased maintenance costs and complexities that can discourage their use. For example, in some SANs, its difficult and time consuming to properly reconfigure a Fiber Channel switch after a system failure since the switch is configurable by multiple entities. Accordingly, the present inventors devised, among other things, a method and systems for automatically maintaining and synchronizing one or more backup copies of configuration data.

  • Patent number: 7433680
Abstract: A push-to-talk (PTT) communication system provides a destination subscriber (called party) with a flexible incoming call management feature in which an initial voice message associated with the initial PTT incoming call to the called party is temporarily stored at the communication application server and is not transmitted to the called party's mobile terminal. The called party is informed of an incoming call by an alert message from the communication application server causing the called party's mobile terminal to provide an alert. The called party may elect one of several options upon being alerted of an incoming call including transmitting a signal requesting the voice message be played.
