    Abstract: Various embodiments are directed to operator workstations that improve efficiency of handling operations at an object handling environment. In one aspect, an operator workstation for handling a plurality of objects is provided. The operator workstation includes a workbench platform having a configurable number of sub-platforms upon which objects can be disposed. The operator workstation further includes a plurality of sensors configured to collect sensor data for detection of object presences and object states of objects disposed upon the workbench platform. The operator workstation further includes a plurality of equipment configured to control movement of objects disposed upon the workbench platform. In various embodiments, different subsets of the sensors and equipment are configured for network communication via different network services provided by a wireless network.

    Abstract: A lidar device, comprising a laser generator and a lidar unit, is provided and operated with frequency modulation continuous wave. The laser generator comprises an amplifier unit; and a reflector unit connected with at least one end of the amplifier unit. The amplifier unit comprises at least one first luminous gain area and at least one second luminous gain area. The first luminous gain area is operated in a saturated region with a first current source applied. The second luminous gain area is operated in a linear region with a second current source applied. Thus, a laser is generated and outputted to the lidar unit. The laser generator is operated with the luminous gain areas of the amplifier unit pushed into the saturated region to suppress intensity modulation and fix power. Even if current changes, frequency drifts only with continuity and adjustability achieved and no mode hop happened.

    Abstract: Arrayed waveguide gratings (AWGs) are important components in coarse wavelength divisional multiplexing (CWDM) and dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM). However, the waveguides forming the array must be separated by a distance large enough to suppress parasitic coupling between the adjacent waveguides and thus limiting reductions in device footprint and insertion loss between the input/output coupler regions and the central region comprising the arrayed waveguides. The inventors have established a design methodology allowing the waveguide separation to be reduced whilst limiting cross-coupling thereby allowing for reduced footprints and insertion loss.
