  • Patent number: 8472717
Abstract: A foreground image separation method is disclosed to separate dynamic foreground and static background in a sequence of input images which have been processed either with automatic white balance or brightness control by the camera. First, an input image is received from the camera, and then a white balance or brightness compensation is performed to the input image according to a reference image to generate a compensated image with background color and background brightness which are approximately similar to that of the reference image. Finally, a background subtraction algorithm is performed to the compensated image to generate a background separation result. The background subtraction algorithm could be a Gaussian Mixture Model based algorithm. The method could process successive images received from the camera to continuously generate background separation results and update the reference image accordingly, such that video surveillance system could adapt to the change of illumination.

  • Publication number: 20130125815
Abstract: A plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) system used to form thin films on substrates includes a plasma chamber, a processing chamber, two or more ring units and a control piece. The plasma chamber includes an outer and an inner quartz tubular units, whose central axes are aligned with each other. Therefore, plasma is held and concentrated in a cylindrical space formed between the outer and outer quartz tubular units. Due to the first and second through holes, the plasma flow may be more evenly distributed on most of the surface of the substrate to form evenly distributed thin films and nano particles on the substrate. In addition, due to the alignment and misalignment between the first and second through holes, the plasma generated in the plasma chamber may be swiftly allowed or disallowed to enter to the processing chamber to prevent the precursor from forming a CVD.

  • Patent number: 8437562
Abstract: An intra-prediction mode optimization method and image compression method/device are disclosed. To properly determine an intra-prediction mode for a target block of an image, a control block is selected from reference blocks of the target block, and an intra-prediction mode adopted in the control block is regarded as a control mode. Assuming that the target block is encoded according to the control mode as well, the prediction efficiency of the target and control blocks is assessed. When the intra-prediction efficiency, under the control mode, of the target block is better than that of the control block, the control mode is determined to be the intra-prediction mode of the target block and an intra-prediction pattern of the target block can be obtained. Otherwise, another one of the reference blocks is selected to be the control block and the control mode is refreshed, to repeat the intra-prediction efficiency assessment.
