Abstract: An LED module is mounted on a case frame by fitting three pins formed at a concave portion of the case frame, into holes in the LED module corresponding to the pins. A light-guide plate is fitted into the case frame formed integrally with a bottom cover in a descending direction. The light-guide plate is fixed by a hook provided for the case frame. A space between the light-guide plate and the LED module is prevented by pressing the light-guide plate to the LED module with a pressing spring. Since the light-guide plate is fitted into the case frame in the descending direction and a light scattering sheet is adhered to an outer end surface of the case frame in the descending direction, it is not necessary to reverse the worked product and so the number and time of working processes can be saved.

Each light unit includes an enclosure comprising a housing containing a light emitting diode therein and a cap fitting over an open end of the housing. A plurality of optical fibers bundled together at one end extend through an opening in the cap, with the bundled ends arranged substantially evenly and proximate to the light emitting diode to receive light therefrom. The other ends of the optical fibers are dispersed, and light received from the light emitting diode is emitted from such dispersed other ends.

Abstract: A backlight unit includes a substrate, a plurality of light sources arranged on the substrate in a spaced-apart relationship with one another for irradiating lights, a total reflection layer for upwardly reflecting the lights irradiated from the light sources, and an optical layer disposed above the light sources and having an oxide compound layer laminated thereon. The optical layer is adapted to allow a part of the lights to pass through the optical layer but reflect the remaining part of the lights downwardly toward the substrate, to thereby induce the lights from the light sources to optically resonate. The optical resonance caused by the oxide compound-laminated optical layer helps to reduce the half amplitude of a color-based spectrum histogram in a light-emitting spectrum, thereby enhancing the color purity.

Abstract: A surface emitting device is provided. The surface emitting device includes a light guide and a light source. The light guide includes a circular portion that curves light, and a light entrance portion that protrudes from the outer peripheral surface of the circular portion. The light source emits light toward the light entrance portion. The light source is disposed in a hollow formed in the center of the light entrance portion. The outer wall surface of the light entrance portion has a reflecting portion. The reflecting portion includes first and second reflecting surfaces that adjoin at an obtuse angle. Light of the light source heading from the inner wall surface to the outer wall surface of the light entrance portion is reflected by the reflecting portion so as to head into the circular portion.
