Abstract: A die cushion pad 13 is divided into four small pads 15 and a large pad 16. With this arrangement, a load applied to an action point of each of the small pads 15 can be equalized by the large pad 16, and an overturning moment arising between the action point and a reaction force point that equates the center of the small pad 15 can be canceled, thereby preventing flexure of the small pad 15. Accordingly, since flexure of the cushion pin and the like can be prevented, there is no risk that the cushion pin is frictioned against the penetrating hole of a bolster, and the lifting operation can be smoothly performed, whereby a higher-accuracy pressing forming operation can be realized.

  • Patent number: 7377214
Abstract: The bulk volume of large numbers of loose, separated, multiply bent, irregularly shaped scrap sheet metal is temporarily reduced, for transportation and storage of the metal for recycling purposes, by compressing the metal into temporary, compacted wafers formed of successively compacted layers. The apparatus includes a load chamber which is axially aligned with a compression chamber and a reciprocating ram which passes through the chambers towards an anvil plate which closes the discharge end of the compression chamber. A pre-determined quantity of loose pieces is placed within the load chamber. The reciprocating ram compresses the pieces of that batch into a thin layer. Successive batches are compressed into overlapping layers which are temporarily bound together, face-to-face, to form a unitary wafer, by temporarily bending and intertwining the peripheral edges of the layers. The layers are subsequently separated for recycling by depositing into a melt furnace.

A press machine is used in which the slide plate is pressed by a plurality of drive sources using servo-motors for driving. The speed of one of the plurality of drive sources is set to a target speed for production forming for the drive source, and by using a function that shows a delay in terms of a speed of the drive source and a load thereon and also using a load separately found, the respective speeds of the drive sources are found so as to eliminate the delay between the drive sources. • Patent number: 6941860
Abstract: A method and a briquetting press for briquetting metal chips, wherein stable briquettes/pressed component are produced. The actual length (Lact) of the pressed component is obtained by applying pressure (Pmax/Preq) using at least one pressing ram (1, 2) and measuring the length with a measuring device (5, 6). The measured value is compared to a desired nominal value (Lnom) and a difference value (?) is subsequently determined.

  • Patent number: 6920821
Abstract: A rod pressure holding instruction section controls a servo motor to rotate a two-way pump in a counter direction, and to supply hydraulic oil, with pressure which does not exceed pressure from a weight of a ram, to a two-way pump-side piping, increasing pressure. A difference between pressure in a rod-side cylinder chamber-side piping of a speed switching valve and pressure in a two-way pump-side piping of the speed switching valve is decreased, thereby decreasing an impact generated when switching the speed switching valve and stopping the ram at a predetermined position.

  • Patent number: 6912951
Abstract: A juice extractor includes a strainer tube mounted to receive juice and pulp of fruit. An orifice tube has opposing first and second ends. The first end is inserted in and moveable within the strainer tube. A rigid sleeve is formed from a material that resists wear and is received within the first end. A drive mechanism engages the orifice tube and reciprocates the orifice tube within the strainer tube and applies pressure on the juice and pulp within the strainer tube for separating the juice and pulp.

  • Patent number: 6901851
Abstract: A mechanism for rotating an object having a flat bottom surface on a conveyor system is described. Four circular disk segments whose rotational axes lie on a plane and are offset 90 degrees from each other are pressed against the bottom surface by a linear drive and subsequently rotated. The top surface of each disk segment lies against the bottom surface in the direction of a tangent of a circle around the rotational axis of the object. The recessed segments do not touch the bottom surface of the object. As the circular disk segments rotate, their outer circumferences rest against the bottom surface and rotate the object. This rotating mechanism is used in strapping machines and provides a method of rotation.

  • Patent number: 6895856
Abstract: A method to provide a high pressure press with a replaceable wear liner. The wear liner is first inserted into the cylindrical pressure chamber of the press and the pre-stressed by the application of an excess pressure above the yield point. The excess pressure is sufficient to increase the diameter of the wear liner and produce a residual radial compressive stress that holds the wear liner in place. When the wear liner is removed from the press it is dismantled. The advantage of the invention is that the replaceable wear liner, and a high pressure press comprising it, may be relatively inexpensive to produce and the replaceable wear liner may be quickly and simply replaced.

  • Patent number: 6886454
Abstract: Higher-gloss paper grades, in particular paper grades with a Hunter gloss % above 40, are produced in an arrangement having pairs of calendering units (1, 3) disposed in the machine direction one after the other and apart from one another, which pairs are each formed of separate and different calendering units (1, 3) and in each of which the nip load in the latter calendering unit (3) is higher than the nip load in the preceding calendering unit (1). Advantageously, the calendering unit (1) placed first in the machine direction is an on-line long-nip calendering unit (1) and the calendering unit (3) placed after that in the machine direction is an on-line or off-line supercalender.

  • Patent number: 6857356
Abstract: Calender including a roll stack having a plurality of rolls that rest against one another in a press direction. At least one of the rolls has an elastic surface. A vibration recording device determines in an uninterrupted manner a vibration of at least one of the rolls. • Patent number: 6851355
Abstract: The pressing method includes the first step of displacing a sub-piston provided within a sub-cylinder from its initial position to press working fluid such that the working fluid is introduced via a check valve into a main cylinder to displace a main piston provided therein, and the second step of causing the sub-piston to return to the initial position such that the working fluid is supplied to the sub-cylinder. The first and second steps are repeated successively until the working fluid in the main cylinder attains a prescribed pressure level. With this method, variation in the way of pressing an object is alleviated, contamination due to the working fluid is prevented, and downsizing of the pressing mechanism is enabled.

  • Patent number: 6840165
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and assembly for opening the nips (9,10) of a calendar comprising at least two elements (1, 2; 3, 4) brought to a nip contact with each other, especially for performing the nip opening at a break or damage occurring in the web (5) being calendered. The tension of the web (5) being calendered is measured at multiple points over the cross-machine width of the web (5) and the calender nips (9,10) are opened when the measured web tension at a preset number of points over the cross-machine width of the web (5) has fallen to a limit value that by a decision-making algorithm monitoring the tension profile of the web (5) is interpreted to indicate a web break situation or other damage on the web (5) requiring opening the nips (9,10).
