Abstract: A skid having a platform with a top, a bottom, a first side, a first elongated tube extending along the length of the first side, a second side, a second elongated tube extending along the length of the second side, a front end, a rear end, and one or more channels in the top positioned longitudinally in the platform, thereby creating a first top panel and a second top panel, wherein the platform is formed from a single sheet of material, e.g., metal or a composite. Two fork pocket are secured to the top of the platform traverse to the channels, thereby defining front and rear channel portions. A front end cap is secured to the top of the platform at the front end, and a center piece is secured to the top of the platform at a predefined fixed distance between the front end cap and the first fork pocket. A plurality of corrugations are formed optionally on the first fork pocket and the second fork pocket, and are formed optionally on the first top panel and the second top panel.

  • Patent number: 6180203
Abstract: A method for rotational molding of articles, including the step of rotationally molding a mixture of particulate plastics material comprising at least one thermoplastics material having a first particle size and a second thermoplastics material having a larger particle size wherein, in use, said first thermoplastic material fuses to form an outer skin and subsequently said second thermoplastics material fuses to form an inner skin bonded to the outer skin of a resultant molded article. The method may also include the step of incorporating a quantity of rollable molded reinforcing elements in the mold with said first and second thermoplastics materials, wherein the reinforcing elements are located in a spaced array thereby forming bridges between opposed inner skin surfaces as they expand. Articles, such as a shipping pallet, rotationally molded using the method are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6167817
Abstract: An improved pallet structure having an upper pallet and a lower pallet. The upper pallet includes on its underside, a plurality of upper feet with a plurality of limiting members and slits. A plurality of upper channels are formed between every two neighboring upper feet. The upper channels include ribs with recesses in alignment with the slits of the upper feet. Rods are placed in the slits and the recesses and abut at their ends against the limiting members. The slits each allows for the engagement of an engaging member, to prevent the movement of the rods in any direction. Then the upper pallet is joined with the lower pallet. When yarn packages are loaded on the pallet, the center of gravity of the yarn packages is located directly above the rods in the pallet. The weight of the yarn packages is carried by the rods, and the pallet is not subjected to deformation and the life cycle of the pallet can be extended.
