Abstract: A clutch mechanism for a tape dispenser, for example, includes first and second coaxially disposed rotating disks, a pressure wheel, and a friction element. The first rotating disk defines at least one protrusion. The pressure wheel is disposed between the first and second rotating disks and is operably engaged by the at least one protrusion carried by the first rotating disk. The protrusion is movable between first and second rotational positions relative to the pressure wheel. The friction element is disposed between the pressure wheel and the second rotating disk such that the friction element generates a first frictional force between the pressure wheel and the second rotating disk when the protrusion is in the first rotational position and a second frictional force between the pressure wheel and the second rotating disk when the protrusion is in the second rotational position.

A supplied amount of matting agent at a surface of a metering roller is metered by a metering blade, and an excess amount is filtered at a slit portion. Matting agent is supplied to an application roller that is provided directly beneath. For example, a closed-cell sponge rubber is used as a material of the metering roller, and a size of closed cells is around 5 to 100 times an average particle diameter of the matting agent. • Patent number: 8067058
Abstract: The amount of a paint for forming a porous heat-resistant layer supplied to the outer surface of a gravure roll is adjusted by removing the paint with a blade that is disposed so as to contact the outer surface. A resin blade is used, and the position at which the resin blade contacts the outer surface of the gravure roll is changed as the resin blade wears away. This prevents the amount of the paint for forming the porous heat-resistant layer removed from the outer surface of the gravure roll from changing as the resin blade wears away, so that the excess amount of the paint carried on the outer surface of the gravure roll is removed with good accuracy. An almost constant amount of the paint is thus transferred to an electrode surface from the outer surface of the gravure roll, and a porous heat-resistant layer with an almost uniform thickness is stably formed on an industrial scale.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for transferring dry or semi-dry nanoparticles onto a substrate. In one embodiment, this includes the steps of providing a roller comprising an elastomeric stamp; transferring nanoparticles in a dry or semi-dry state, and which contact the surface of a donor substrate, from the donor substrate onto the elastomeric stamp; and depositing the dry or semi-dry nanoparticles from the elastomeric stamp onto a receiver substrate by rolling the elastomeric stamp onto the receiver substrate. The substrate, in other embodiments, can have a relief structure.

Abstract: A method for producing a structured surface making contact with printing material, preferably a cylinder cover, includes producing a structured coating having microparticles on a substrate, preferably a stainless steel plate. The microparticles are encased antiadhesively and agglomerated by adsorption of nanoparticles, and the agglomerates being produced are fixed in a sol-gel matrix. A surface produced in this way has a structured coating on a substrate and the coating has microparticles. The coating has agglomerates fixed in a sol-gel matrix and including microparticles encased antiadhesively by adsorption of nanoparticles and preferably formed of silicon carbide. The surfaces advantageously have a self-repair function since, in the case of abrasion of structural elevations, the antiadhesive casings of the microparticles are exposed and the antiadhesive property of the coating is maintained.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a multilayer information recording medium including at least two information recording portions and a resin layer interposed between the information recording portions, both of which are disposed on a signal substrate. The method includes a first process of forming a predetermined information recording portion on one principal surface of the signal substrate and a second process of passing a part of a resin-containing coating, which is supplied on a screen having an application region with a plurality of first pores and a removal region with a plurality of second pores, through the first pores by sliding a squeegee on the screen so as to form a coating layer on the predetermined information recording portion, and curing the resin contained in the coating layer so as to form the resin layer. The first process and the second process are carried out respectively a predetermined number of times.

Abstract: A device (10) for sealing one or both ends of a metering nip. The device (10) comprises a high pressure chamber (12) and a low pressure chamber (14), with each chamber (12,14) comprising a sealing element (18,22) operatively adapted so as to form a seal with the metering nip. The low pressure chamber (14) is in contact with the fluid material metered by the metering nip. The high pressure chamber (12) is pressurized with a gas that will prevent substantially all of the fluid material from leaking out past the sealing element (18) of the high pressure chamber (12), and the low pressure chamber (14) is pressurized to a pressure that will not force a substantial amount of the pressurized gas into the fluid material to be metered.

Abstract: A coating-film transfer tool is configured to positively absorb rotation of a head part caused when pressed and an effect of lean of the head part, and such a configuration contributes to favorable and uniform transfer. A member 4 is disposed at one end of a support column 2 supporting a head part 1 at the other end. A distance between the axial center of the support column 2 and its periphery varies depending on a position in the rotation direction. Sandwiching plates 3 resiliently sandwich the facing sides of the member 4 with the narrowest gap, when the head part 1 is not pressing a transfer target. When the head part 1 rotates around the axis of the support column 2 in a state pressing the transfer target, the member 4 rotates to forcibly and significantly widen the gap between the sandwiching plates and generate a restoring force.
