Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods of making up and/or enhancing the appearance of a keratinous substrate comprising (1) forming a film on the keratinous substrate by applying to said keratinous substrate (a) a first cosmetic composition comprising at least one polyvinyl alcohol-styrylpyridinium polymer and (b) a second cosmetic composition comprising at least one complexing agent, and (2) exposing the film to radiation chosen from UV and visible light radiation.

Abstract: A nail manicure method and kit, comprising applying a protective coating to portions of the surface of a finger or toe nail where the application of nail polish is not desired, optionally manipulating the protective coating into a desired shape, and applying nail polish to regions not covered by the protective coating. Once the nail polish has at least partially dried, the protective coating is removed to reveal a surface of a nail with well defined regions of nail polish and the region covered by the protective coating. The protective coating is used to generate various customized designs by the user. The protective coating is manipulated by pushing or removing portions of the protective coating using a shaping object. The protective coating is removed by peeling or rubbing. The protective coating comprises rubber and water.

Abstract: A nit picking device and method for mechanically stripping nits, eggs, and lice from human hair. The device includes a pair of cooperating tongs each of which is elongated and joined at one end to the juxtaposed end portion of the cooperating tong. The opposite ends of the tong serve to carry an abrasive pad capable of stripping nits from nit laden human hair shafts. As the pads are moved along the length of the hair, the nits are removed from the shafts and in one embodiment captured at least in part in the pads carried by tongs.

Abstract: A hair accessory device; in particular, a device and method of use that is uniquely configured to clamp and securely grasp hair in place and allow the hair to appear fuller. The device is a double hair clip having a corresponding pair of pivotable jaws, an inner set and an outer set. This advantageously allows for the secure holding of hair while creating the look of hair fullness.

Abstract: A method of applying makeup to a surface, such as the skin, the nails, hair, or the lips, is disclosed. The method includes manually depositing, using a non-magnetic cosmetic applicator, at least a first cosmetic composition in the fluid state on the surface, the first composition containing magnetic particles that are movable under the effect of a magnetic field; and manually exposing at least part of the first composition to a magnetic device producing a magnetic field, the magnetic device located above the first composition so as to orientate and/or displace at least a fraction of the magnetic particles so as to form at least one pattern according to magnetic field lines of the magnetic field without making contact with the first composition.

Abstract: A facial make-up application machine is provided, which includes a base, a robot, a cosmetics provider, and a control device. The control device can control the robot to move the cosmetics provider to a make-up application position in order to spray or apply cosmetic materials to a contour corresponding to a human face. Thus, the invention can provide an automatic make-up application for variously and accurately carrying out the makeup-application on faces selected or emulated by one or more users. A specific facial image in the invention can be built-in or provided by an external storage device or image recognition device. The storage device can pre-store a plurality of makeup-application profiles as an option. A facial make-up application method using the same is also provided.

Abstract: This invention relates to nail coating compositions, to packages including the nail coating compositions, to methods of applying the nail coating composition to a nail and to a use of an additive compound to improve the properties of the nail coating composition of the present invention. In particular, the invention relates to nail coating compositions having improved chip resistance, good adhesion to the nail, a high gloss finish and a short dry-to-touch time.

Abstract: A dental hygiene threading tool used to insert floss between teeth of a user who has permanent oral implants. Traditional flossing for individuals with oral implants and the methods of flossing between implants and the gum line presently available are time consuming and difficult, due to the lack of the space between the two structures. The disclosed device comprises a hollow tube used to guide a floss threading line or pull through guide into these tight spaces. The tube is then removed once the threading line has been inserted. A user feeds a strand of dental floss through the threading line loop and pulls the threading line with the dental floss through the space. Once the dental floss has been fed through the teeth, the flossing procedure may commence. The device dramatically reduces time and effort required to thread floss between teeth and oral implants.

Abstract: Skin care or cleansing implements are described containing a liquid, semi-solid or solid cleansing or skin treatment composition that is releasably associated with the implement. The composition is substantially nonaqueous and has a continuous and a discontinuous phase. Components of the discontinuous phase can react with each other or with water when water is blended with the nonaqueous cleansing or skin treatment composition during consumer use. Methods for treating the skin with the inventive implements are also described.

Abstract: The present invention is a water insoluble substrate material that has a liquid antiperspirant or deodorant composition deposited into a substrate. This insoluble substrate is held in an applicator and applied to the body to hide or prevent body odors. The applicator allows the user to apply the antiperspirant or deodorant to the affected areas without getting the liquid on the hands. The applicator is small and non-porous, which allows the user to transport and store the antiperspirant or deodorant in a purse or wallet.

Abstract: The invention provides a storage unit, configured expressly for storing hair extensions comprising a free standing hanger, divided into sections to accommodate extensions placed on the right side, left side and center of the scalp. The Extension Hanger rests atop a sturdy, circular shaped base and features an elongated, vertical extension pole, on which a series of sturdy hanging arms are horizontally attached, projecting from either side of the main support. A second, adjustable, hinged support arm is positioned at the top of the main support and provides additional stability to the unit. Both this support arm and the unit base feature a heavy duty suction cup for use in securing. The Extension Hanger features between six and eight rows of hanging arms, with each arm featuring a series of spring loaded clip fasteners, on which the individual extensions are hung.

Abstract: Handheld applicator assembly systems for and methods of applying one or more cosmetics to a surface are disclosed. A handheld applicator assembly system may include a handle, motor, and coupling assembly for releasably receiving a set of detachable and interchangeable makeup brushes selected for applying a cosmetic to a surface area of the body such as the face. The makeup brushes may be customized in size, shape and stiffness to facilitate the application and blending of one or more cosmetics across one or more zones. The applicator systems and methods may provide a systematic correlation between each type of makeup, each zone, and each brush that may be helpful to makeup users of varying skill levels.

The compositions may further include sodium laureth sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine, cocamide MEA, disodium EDTA, and deionized water. Compositions also may be incorporated as a component of other products, such as deodorants, towelettes, or powders.

Abstract: Dental floss products are provided which include a unitary tape of ultra-high molar mass polyethylene having an intrinsic viscosity of at least 5 dl/g, as measured in decalin at 135° C., the tape having a thickness of about 0.02-0.1 mm and a width of about 0.25-6 mm, and a tensile strength of at least 1.8 GPa. The dental floss products have very high mechanical, especially tensile strength, and show high resistance to tearing and has a low coefficient of friction. The tape can be inserted between teeth tightly together without breaking. A further advantage of the dental tape products is that most of the initial strength during flossing is retained, even if the tape separates into filaments. Processes for making a unitary tape suitable for use in a dental floss product are also provided.

Abstract: An apparatus for applying cosmetic or treatment material to a user's lips includes a container containing a lip cosmetic product or a lip treatment product in solid or semi-solid form. An applicator is mounted on the container, the applicator having an upper surface formed in the general shape of human upper and lower lips. In one embodiment, the applicator has apertures extending through the applicator. The apertures advance the product in the container through the apertures and onto the upper surface of the applicator when the container is manipulated. A user applies their lips to the upper surface of the applicator, transferring the product to the user's lips. In a further embodiment, the lip product in the container and the applicator are one solid or semi-solid structure, with the upper surface of the structure formed generally in the shape of a pair of human lips.

Abstract: A hand-washing system for washing fingernail beds and cuticular regions of human fingers and thumbs (collectively “digits”). The hand-washing system includes a work enclosure for containing ones of the digits and a high-velocity, high-flow water spray during a washing operation. The work enclosure defines an interior space, part of which defines an energy-dissipation region that, during use, provides a water reservoir for dissipating energy in the high-velocity, high flow water spray. The work enclosure includes a high-energy spray nozzle and a digit portal sized to receive the four fingers of one hand simultaneously in closed-fingered, upwardly-curled configuration. A mixing valve may be provided to allow a user to adjust the temperature of the water during washing. A quick-disconnect fluid-coupling assembly may also be provided and be used to quickly select between work enclosures of differing size.

Abstract: The present invention provides a skin peel composition including a plurality of substances, such as lactic acid, salicylic acid, and resorcinol and, additionally a post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation reducing substance such as a retinol (vitamin A) or retinol derivative. Skin is first prepared using an alcohol preparation followed by a combinations of acids and, lastly, a retinol or retinol derivatives. Other agents such as ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and vitamin E can be added as needed. Application of the skin peel composition may be either topically in the form of a cream or gel, and may further be injected subcutaneously into the skin to achieve deeper penetration of the composition within the skin layers of the area to be treated.

Abstract: A palette assembly of one or more vertically arranged substantially flat palettes with a central aperture for cutting and/or coloring hair. Layers of hair are spread across the surface of the palette for cutting and/or coloring in a desired pattern, whereby hair color can be applied onto strands of hair in a desired specific pattern, or the hair may be cut according to a desired specific pattern, each of which can be easily replicated. Markings on the surface of the palette indicate the location of a cut or a particular shade of color, to create a particular hairstyle or color.

Abstract: The invention is in the field of skin hygiene, especially hand hygiene and/or hand soap compositions. It remains to be desired to prepare skin hygiene compositions having a high anti-microbial effect, with a low dosage of anti-microbial essential oils. It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a skin hygiene composition, having good anti-microbial properties, at low levels of essential oil. Surprisingly it has been found that composition comprising a low amount of essential oil and a polymer complex or mixture provides improved hygiene efficacy.

Abstract: The present invention provides a novel dental flossing device (1), which is adapted to be inserted entirely into an oral cavity of the user. The flossing device (1) comprises a floss string (10) and at least two manipulation members (21), which are connected by the string (10) for control thereof. The manipulation members (21) are adapted to be guided by oral muscles, particularly the tongue, of the user, whereby the floss string (10) may be guided by tongue via the manipulation members (21) without introducing fingers to said oral cavity.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to kits comprising multiple containers packaged in conjunction with each other, which provide convenience to a user when applying multiple hair products to the user's hair. A first container containing a first composition is packaged in contact with a second container containing a second composition, such that a user can easily purchase and transport the two containers together and use both as part of a hair care regimen.

Abstract: Applicator devices for applying topical oils to an individual are disclosed herein. The applicator devices overcome the deficiencies in the prior art by allowing topical oils, especially essential oils, to be applied using a roller-ball applicator. Exemplary applicators may include a topical oil container, and a roller-ball applicator coupled to the container. The roller-ball applicator may include, a roller-ball housing, wherein the roller-ball housing includes a well configured to hold topical oil for application to an individual regardless of the orientation of the roller-ball applicator, and a roller-ball within the housing, the roller-ball being freely rotatable within the housing. The applicator device may also include a cap configured to be removably attached to the container and to seal topical oil within the topical oil container by exerting pressure on the roller-ball when the cap is securely attached to the container.

Abstract: A multi-functional, multi-compositional cosmetic applicator is disclosed. The applicator includes an application surface in liquid communication with a reservoir. The reservoir includes a first personal care composition and a second personal care composition stored therein, and the applicator is actuatable between a first and second functional configuration wherein the application surface of the applicator exhibits a first frictional force when in the first functional configuration and a second frictional force that is less than the first frictional force when in the second functional configuration. The applicator includes an actuatable delivery system that allows a user to selectively dispense the first and second compositions.

The aqueous liquids form solid, flexible films after direct application to skin, and the films may be peeled from the skin to remove adhered keratotic plugs from pores of the skin. The compositions are easily applied to skin, without dripping, with fingers, a brush, or other applicators.
