Abstract: An edge-protected product and finishing method therefor. The product comprises a first we and a second web bonded intermittently to the peripheral regions of a major surface of the sheet material to be protected. The bonded webs provide the desired level of protection to the peripheral regions and the edge surfaces of the sheet material. The intermittent bonding allows for the clean and convenient separation of the sheet material and the webs that a continuously bonded web would not be able to provide. Where laser cutting is used to separate the protected product, the edge-protected product with intermittent bonding areas allows for the separation without laser irradiation to the web material, thus no generation of toxic fume or charring due to oxidation, melting and/or disintegration of the web material caused by laser heating. The invention is particularly useful for protecting thin glass sheets, especially those in the form of a spool.

Abstract: A masking tape for use in applications where a coating material is applied to a surface for defining a sharp edge of the portion of the surface that is coated. A masking tape may include a reinforcing strip releasably attached to the non-adhesive side of conventional masking tape comprising a substrate with an adhesive layer on one side. The reinforcing strip extends longitudinally along the length of the substrate with one edge substantially aligned with, and preferably flush with, one longitudinal edge of the substrate and acts as a separate means to cut through a coating or film more efficiently than the masking tape alone, while subsequently leaving the masking tape in place until the preferred time of removal.

  • Patent number: 8263115
Abstract: A ring-shaped toe-patch is provided for treatment and prevention of tinea pedis, commonly known as athlete's foot. The toe-patches are made of rubber-foam, attached to a hydrophobic material for elimination of fungus like T. rubrum. The toe-patch has cuts extending into the patch from the central circle in the toe-patch. Due to its perfect fit the toe-patch comes close to the affected area making it possible for a hydrophobic material attached to foam to effectively bind the fungi. Simultaneously with the elimination of the fungi the toe-patch works as a toe separator creating space between the toes.

  • Patent number: 8256093
Abstract: An acoustic mirror of alternately arranged layers of high and low acoustic impedances is manufactured in that a basic material having a first layer of the layer sequence is initially provided, on which a second layer of the layer sequence is created on the first layer such that the second layer of the layer sequence partially covers the first layer. Subsequently, a planarization layer is applied onto the layer sequence, and the planarization layer is removed in an area which in the common layer plane projects laterally beyond the second layer so as to result in a residual planarization layer. Finally, a termination layer is applied onto the layer sequence and the residual planarization layer.
