Abstract: A disposable device protects the bottom portions of trouser legs during rain or snowstorms. The device has two flexible plastic sheets, each sheet being rectangular and having an adhesive band, on one face, along its four edges. The adhesive band, before use of the device, is covered by a protective strip.
Abstract: A collar protector for a shirt is provided that will cover both the neck band and outside flap portion of the collar and be removably attached thereto, so that the protector will prevent salt and moisture from damaging the complete collar of the shirt.
Abstract: A garment protector which may be folded to form a pocket includes a sheet of flexible material which has transverse and oblique folding zones along which the sheet can be folded to form the pocket, and fastening means for maintaining the sheet in its folded condition when it is folded along the folding zones. The sheet includes an upper portion which can be fastened to the neck of an individual, and other portions of the sheet which are defined by the sides and lower end of the sheet, and by the transverse and oblique folding zones. The sheet thus includes a pocket rear wall, a pocket front wall which is foldable over the pocket rear wall, two corner flaps which are foldable upwardly and inwardly over one of the pocket walls, and a lip flap which is foldable over the pocket front wall to form a lip of the pocket.
Abstract: A bib garment for covering a mother's nursing baby is disclosed which incorporates a primary panel having its upper edge shaped to fit the neck of the nursing mother, the panel being long and wide enough to cover the front and sides of the mother and her baby while nursing. Pockets are disposed adjacent the lower edge on the inside face of the bib for storage of and access to nursing necessities and equipment. Embellishments for enhancement of appearance, and detraction of attention from the nursing act, are disposed upon the face of the bib.
Abstract: A protective cover assembly for supporting a bird on a wearer's shoulder in a manner such that the wearer's garments are not soiled by the bird includes a plurality of plys and a bird perch which is sized and shaped to be securely mounted on the wearer's shoulder. The cover can include a drape and arm covers that are releasably attachable to the drape or to the cover and an adjustable neck portion.
Abstract: A slider creeper that a person may lie on for working under vehicles, with the slider creeper having a back panel, having an interior surface for receiving a user and an exterior surface with upturned edges to permit the slider creeper to slide along a surface, with the back panel having a pivotal head rest for elevating and supporting a user's head when the user's weight is located on said back panel and a harness for mounting the slider creeper on the user's back.
Abstract: A disposable protective lower undergarment intended for use primiarly by women while trying on clothing such as bathing suits and the like at a store. The invention is structured to fit around, and be held to prevent, the woman's crotch area from coming into contact with the clothing being tried when conventional lower undergarments are removed. Several embodiments are disclosed; however, a very thin polypropylene strip connected by heat sealing the looped ends of this material around a thin endless elastic band is preferred.
Abstract: A protective under garment having a waterproof outer surface and an absorptive inner surface. The garment has a waistband and leg bands for securing the garment about the user. The garment is open faced and leg bands secured to the crotch of the garment hold the garment in place to form a comfortable and convenient protective shield.
Abstract: A garment protector using an elongate tube formed of thin flexible plastic creased on opposite sides to provide a flat body and having a V-shaped extension on one end of the tube between the creases and a V-shaped indentation on the opposite end. The V-shaped indentation provides two pointed extensions which are used to hold the protector in place by placing them under a shirt collar. Anti-static material in the plastic prevents the sides from clinging to each other.
Abstract: A system is disclosed for preventing a tie from becoming soiled. The necktie has a front ply and a rear ply with the rear ply defining an opening. A bib is attached to the inside of the necktie and is folded and positioned within the opening between the front ply and the rear ply. The bib defines a slot which enables a portion of the necktie to pass through the slot when the bib is unfolded and removed via the opening from between the front ply and the rear ply. In this manner, the bib will overlie the necktie portion that is passed through the slot.
Abstract: There is disclosed a supplementary clothing article suitable for outdoor use to provide an insulated area between a user and a substrate surface, such as a cold surface. The article is adapted to be worn about a user's torso in a folded condition when not in use, and to be unfolded for use. The article is made up of a plurality of pad members each comprised of a layer of insulating material, namely a mat of heat insulating material provided with an outer covering of a textile material a flexible connection forming a fold area between the adjacent pad members and a pair of spaced-apart flexible strap means, one of the strap means being near the upper end of the upper pad member for encircling a wearer's torso at the waist and the other strap means being near the upper end of the lower pad member for encircling a wearer's torso at the waist when the article is in a folded form, or when the article is in use, to encircle the lower torso in the region of a user's legs.
Abstract: A protective web for use in the manufacture of garments to reinforce parts of the garments corresponding to parts of the human body most likely to be exposed to scratching or fleshing of the skin or muscles. This web is characterized in that it comprises a piece of fabric that may be a woven, knitted or non-woven textile or yet be made of synthetic material. A plurality of small rigid platelets capable of resisting wear and abrasion are secured over this piece of fabric. The small platelets are so uniformly distributed and spaced over the piece of fabric as to allow the web to yield under all movements of the body of the garment wearer. According to a preferred embodiment, the rigid platelets are made of polymeric thermoplastic or thermosetting material and are secured to the fabric by gluing, compression molding or yet by welding in the case where the fabric used is made of synthetic material.

Abstract: A costume includes a pair of arm pieces, a pair of leg pieces, and an optical hood, each of which is made from a compressible tubular conduit including a helically wound coil of resiliently flexible wire material and a covering material for encasing the wire material. The arm pieces are connected together by an adjustable strap which extends over the wearer's back. The leg pieces include hooks for securing over the wearer's pants. Both the arm and leg pieces include end caps with small diameter openings for closely encircling the wearer's wrists and shins, respectively, thus preventing the coil of flexible wire material in each piece from extending beyond the length of the wearer's arms of legs.
Abstract: A garment made of plastic film of the type and thickness often used for the manufacture of grocery sacks and garbage bags is disclosed. Stretch and ventilation of the garment is provided in spite of the relative inelasticity and impervious nature of plastic film by cutting a plurality of small slits in parallel rows, the slits being staggered in one row with respect to the slits in adjacent rows. In this way the plastic material is allowed to deform into a plurality of diamond shaped openings which at one and the same time provide both flexibility and ventilation to a plastic garment. The rows of slits are confined, in one embodiment, to the inseams and abdominal areas of the garment.
Abstract: A rain clothes includes a rain jacket having a pair of gloves built in two jacket sleeves ready for wearing service, and a rain trousers having a pair of leg hoses each having a lining of elastic hose portion and a skirt fastened to a wearer's shoe or foot for completely shielding a wearer's boot and foot.
Abstract: The open mesh warp knit fabric of the present invention includes a base fabric knit with electrically nonconductive base yarn and forming an open mesh pattern of lightweight construction having spaced openings to provide ventilation therethrough. Electrically conductive filaments are incorporated in the base fabric and provide an open grid extending throughout the entire area of the base fabrics with the conductive filaments being incorporated predominantly in only one side of the base fabric. The conductive yarns provide only about one-half of one percent of the total weight of the fabric and are of a relatively fine denier so that the conductive yarn is substantially invisible to the naked eye. Various types of garments and accessories are illustrated as being formed of the electrostatic dissipating fabric.
Abstract: A flexible shield mountable on the rump of a user's body to protect the user from incurring bruises and abrasions while sliding down a hill. The shield comprises a skid plate and adjustable straps for releasably attaching the skid plate to the rump of the user. The skid plate is preferably a sheet of flexible plastic, substantially rectangular in planform, having a smooth posterior surface for sliding on snow or ice, and having its lower portion bifurcated by a vertical slit to facilitate walking with the shield in place. A waist strap is inserted through slits in the left and right upper corners of the skid plate. Left and right leg straps secure the lower portion of the skid plate to the user's legs. A crotch strap is inserted through a slit in a flap in the lower central portion of the skid plate, the two ends of the crotch strap passing between the legs and being connected to the ends of the waist strap.
Abstract: A protector for neckties is disclosed. The protector includes a pair of elongated substantially identical and flat sheet members. The sheet members have a pair of longitudinal sides and at least a pair of lateral sides. The sheet members have a shape substantially corresponding to a necktie with a first and second end. The sheet members are positioned such that the longitudinal and lateral sides are in alignment and imposed upon one another. The sheet members are bonded together on one of the longitudinal and one of the lateral sides such that a necktie may be inserted into the protector between the sheet members through the non-bonded longitudinal and lateral sides. Also positioned on one of the sheet members is a securing member for securing at least one of the sheet members to the necktie.
Abstract: Improved cover garment is disclosed providing an inner garment access option. For applications requiring a high degree of barrierness, openings are not desired, and the garment is used in its original condition. For other applications where it is desired to obtain access to an inner garment, a weakened line is provided adjacent at least one area of the inner garment where access may be desired. By application of stress to the area of the weakened line, the garment material separates providing a hand hole. The material from which the garment is made is preferable a nonwoven fabric containing thermoplastic fibers, and the weakened line is preferably formed by application of heat and pressure. Garments of the invention find applications as cover garments for clean rooms, hospitals and the like.

Abstract: An improved covering device to be used by skiers for protection against snow and moisture that has accumulated on the seat of a chair lift is disclosed. The device comprises a waterproof pad that hangs from the rear of a belt secured about the skier's waist. The pad is rolled up to the belt for storage between periods of use and is held in the stored position by elastic loops slipped over the ends of the roll.
Abstract: A corset comprises an inner waist encircling structure in the form of a band-like strip of elastic material releasably securable about a wearer's waist, and an outer waist encircling structure of flexible, inextensible material of variable length and an inflatable bag supported by at least one of said structures between the two structures means being provided for inflating the bag to apply inward pressure to the wearer's abdomen wall.
Abstract: A utility garment for load portage in the shape of a vest containing load carrying compartments on the back and front flaps of the vest. The vest closes at the front, and a waist belt attached to back and front flaps through tie down loops holds the loaded vest to the wearer to prevent shifting of loads and upward creeping of the front flaps and to distribute a portion of the read load directly to the wearer's hip region. A stowable water repellent seat protector hangs from the bottom of the back of the pack for the packer to sit upon.
Abstract: Leg protecting apparatus includes a calf cover portion and a cover supporting portion. The calf cover portion includes a main section having a generally rectangular configuration with shorter upper and lower edges and longer side edges. An ankle covering section extends downwardly from the lower edge of the main section. The main section and the ankle covering section are formed from a woven fabric material, the fabric material being a tightly woven flexible moisture and grease resistant smooth flat fabric. The cover supporting portion includes a pair of spaced elongated strap members, the strap members being disposed substantially parallel to one another and substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal centerline of the main section. The strap members are formed of moisture and grease resistant flat woven material.
Abstract: A garment (10) to be worn by an incontinent, sedentary person includes a front sheet (12) for covering the front of the person from the waist to below the knees, and a backsheet (14) sewn to the back, lower end of the front sheet along three seams parallel with the length of the front sheet to provide wide, loose leg sleeves (24,26) through which the person's legs are extended. A tie string (16) extends across the top of the front sheet for tying the top of the front sheet about the waist of the person. The leg sleeves and the tie string hold the garment on the person to thereby prevent exposure of the front of the person's abdominal region and legs but yet the front sheet leaves a gap at the rear of the person for allowing passage of body waste from the person without soiling the garment.
Abstract: Protective trousers for wearing over the lower portion of a dry or wet diving suit include a pair of panels joined at the crotch area and defining leg, hip and waist encircling elements. Clips and straps are provided for connecting the open side edges of the trousers, and for securing the bottom ends of the trousers to the feet of a user.
Abstract: A disposable protective cover for face-engaging respirators, or the like, which is particularly useful in a contaminated environment in preventing particulate buildup on the respirator. For example, in painting operations the cover protects the respirator from paint buildup and contamination, preserving the respirator from undue wear and reducing frequent cleaning and maintenance of the respirator. The cover presents a thin, flexible body configured to generally conform to the shape of the outer surface of the respirator. The body has an opening to provide access to the respirator intake and a cuplike section to provide a loose fit of the cover around the respirator exhalation valve to allow unrestricted breathing. The covers hereof present structure for quick attachment or detachment of the covers from the respirator. The exact structural features of the covers are adapted to accommodate different types of respirators, such as full face or half-face masks, and external air source or filter type masks.
Abstract: A fashion trim article for the protection and decoration of corners of cloth such as collars and ties comprises an angled enclosure formed and stamped from a sheet and having a front plate with bent-up and -over side sections and a back plate spaced from the front plate for receiving therebetween the cloth corner.The back plate has outwardly bent parallel bearing wall sections with opposite bores receiving the bearing pins of a pivotable retaining flap provided with a tab projecting into the opening defined between the bearing wall sections for engaging the cloth material introduced into the space between the front and back plates. The tab on the retaining flap not only engages the material to retain the material but also moves the material further into the trim member when the flap is closed.

Abstract: A garment, and method of making it, formed from a flexible material having part thereof covering a body joint subjected to stretching upon movement of the body joint in use, has a plurality of sections of flexible sheet material overlying that part of the garment to protect it against wear and arranged in overlapping relationship so that part of one section overlies part of an adjacent section and the sections lie substantially parallel to and partly in engagement with each other and partly against the surface of the garment, the sections being attached to the garment along substantially parallel spaced lines substantially perpendicular to the stretching direction so that the flexibility of the garment is not impaired in the stretching direction.

Abstract: A protective garment for a bowler is described including a generally rectangular towel member having upper and lower ends adapted to be positioned over one of the bowler's breasts and generally extending from the bowler's shoulder to the bowler's waist. A first elongated strap member is secured at one end to the rectangular member above the lower end and is adapted to be extended around the bowler's waist and detachably secured at its other end to the rectangular member. A second elongated strap member is secured at one end to the upper end of the rectangular member and is adapted to extend over the bowler's shoulder and thence downwardly for connection, at its other end, to the first strap member intermediate the ends thereof. The rectangular towel member prevents dirt or the like carried by the bowling ball from being transmitted to the bowler's shirt beneath the rectangular towel member.
Abstract: A shoulder protector is disclosed for use on either shoulder of a person using the device and including a layer of absorbent material exposed upwardly to receive and absorb liquid material such as that discharged by an infant when being burped. The protector includes a layer of liquid impervious material underlying the absorbent layer to protect the garments worn by the person using the protector. The protector is constructed of flexible material, fitted to the shoulder area of the person using the device and is provided with securing devices to retain the protector in place. The inner edge of the protector extends downwardly both forwardly and rearwardly of the shoulder and toward the opposite waste region with the ends of the inner edge being connected together to retain the protector in position and the outer edge of the protector being arcuately curved and fitted to the shoulder and extending laterally outwardly sufficiently to cover the shoulder region of the person using the device.

Abstract: A disposable garment for hunters useful for field dressing out and skinning of large animals, such as deer and elk. The garment is formed of a transparent, waterproof material, and has gloves integrally connected to the ends of the sleeves. The gloves each have at least two fingers which the hunter may insert between the hide and the carcass of the animal to form an opening for inserting a hunting knife to slice the animal's hide.
Abstract: A protective shoulder cover which is positively held on a person's shoulder by means of tie straps or Velcro snap portions. The cover in one embodiment has an absorbent material outer layer, a liquid impervious inner layer, and interlining between these two layers at the shoulder for the purpose of providing padding. The shoulder portion is also form-fitting to provide a secure fit on a person wearing same. Several other embodiments are envisioned by this invention; the interlining may be omitted between the two layers, and both layers may be made of absorbent material.
Abstract: A protective covering which can prevent water from contacting certain portions of the body, such as the abdomen. The covering includes a sheet of flexible fluid impervious material with a fastening device, such as a velcro fastener adjacent its two end portions permitting the sheet to be placed around the body and held by overlapping the end portions. A flexible foam rod is placed along the top of the sheet; the rod being covered with a flexible sleeve. One end of the rod is uncovered and at the opposite end the sleeve is open ended, so that as the sheet wraps around the body portion, the uncovered edge of the rod can telescopically fit into the open end of the sleeve. The covered rod forms a seal against the body for preventing water from reaching the body portion.
