Abstract: The present dispensing closure system includes a closure base, which can be configured for securement to an associated container, and a lid hingedly connected to the closure base for movement between closed and open positions, wherein in the closed position of the lid, the lid coacts to close and seal a dispensing orifice defined by the closure base. Convenient manipulation of the lid between its closed and open positions is facilitated by the provision of a sliding element mounted on the closure base for sliding, reciprocable movement generally laterally of the closure base. Notably, the sliding element includes a latch portion which coacts with the lid to positively retain the lid in its closed position until manipulation of the sliding element by a user to unlatch the lid. The sliding element includes one or more camming surfaces which coact with the lid to urge it from its closed position to its open position.

The plurality of arm members are preferably selectively pivotable about the first end portions and in a generally arcuate path to thereby move the access door between open and closed positions based upon signals transmitted by the sensor.

Abstract: A closure, set within an aperture of a container end wall, for gas tight containment of dissociating gasses that emit from carbonated beverage, whereby the container, such as a beverage container, becomes pressurized. The closure device, manufactured of a suitable plastic material, set within an aperture in a container end wall, includes a rim seal with an annular locking recess surrounding the aperture in the container end wall, providing a liquid and gas-tight seal. The rim seal includes a depending tapered inner wall, protruding into the container interior, with the larger diameter open to the container interior. Additionally, the rim seal is fitted with a narrow strip hinge on a lower aspect, and locking members located on an upper aspect. A sealing panel, having a small diameter gas vent hole, is set within the rim seal, connected by the narrow strip hinge. This panel is formed with a tapered outer depending wall with a like taper to the rim seal, such that the tapers cooperate in sealing engagement.

Abstract: An anti-tipping storage box for eyeglasses has a base portion having an upper surface with compartments formed therein that are adapted to receive a pair of eyeglasses. The base portion has a predetermined overturning resisting movement. The storage box further has a cover portion hingedly connected to the base portion that may be opened and closed. At least one spring member is provided to bias the cover portion to the open position. A mechanical stop member is provided to resiliently stop the cover portion at the open position over a predetermined angular range of cover rotation and cause the cover portion to impart an overturning moment to said base portion that is resisted by the predetermined overturning resisting moment. Preferably, the predetermined overturning resisting moment of the base portion is selected so as to be at least 2 times but not more than 4 times the overturning moment.

  • Patent number: 6568552
Abstract: A workpiece handling system with dual load locks, a transport chamber and a process chamber. Workpieces may be retrieved from one load lock for processing at vacuum pressure, while workpieces are unloaded from the other load lock at the pressure of the surrounding environment. The transport chamber has a transport robot with two arms. Processed workpieces and new workpieces may be exchanged by a simple under/over motion of the two robot arms. The transport robot rotates about a central shaft to align with the load locks or the process chamber. The robot may also be raised or lowered to align the arms with the desired location to which workpieces are deposited or from which workpieces are retrieved. The two load locks may be positioned one above the other such that a simple vertical motion of the robot can be used to select between the two load locks. The two load locks and transport robot allow almost continuous processing.

  • Patent number: 6543635
Abstract: A plastic container lid is disclosed for a container having double locking flanges around its upper peripheral edge for locking engagement with the lid. The lid has a central portion in a peripheral annular skirt. The skirt has an annular groove dividing the skirt into an upper portion and a lower tear-off strip portion. The upper portion has intermittent locking flange segments for engaging one of the container locking flanges. The tear-off strip portion has a second locking flange for engaging the other of the container locking flanges. Thin membrane windows are formed in the skirt upper portion on either side of the intermittent locking flange segments and bordering on the annular groove, so that the membrane windows form weakened notches upon removal of the tear-off strip portion to facilitate upward deflection of the lid annular skirt in the area of the intermittent flange segments to facilitate removal of the lid.

  • Patent number: 6085929
Abstract: A mechanism for selectively securing a cover to a flange of a pressure vessel. The cover and flange each have openings that are aligned when the cover is in position facing the flange. The mechanism includes an anchor plate having a hole therethrough. A piston is slidable in a direction normal to the cover in alignment with the opening therethrough. A stud extends from to the piston with a stud head remote from the piston. The stud head fits through the opening of the closer of the cover and flange and through a wider portion of the anchor plate hole, and is positioned opposite the flange and cover from the piston when the cover is positioned over the flange. The stud head does not fit through a narrower portion of the anchor plate hole. A resilient member biases the piston away from the cover. A selectively activated actuator overcomes the resilient member and forces the stud head away from the flange and the anchor plate.
