Patent number: 10874177Abstract: The Belt Ratcheting Device (BRD) facilitates unidirectional belt fastening and fast release. The BRD includes a turning gate rotatably installed diagonally in a channel. The turning gate has a blade holder with sharp blade front. Attached at the rear is a resilient plate which acts as a spring. The BRD has two states: “active” and “inactive”. In the active state the device works as a belt ratchet i.e. allowing the belt to be pulled forwards but restricting any belt motion backwards. In the inactive state the ratcheting is disabled and the belt is released. Usually, the BRD is kept in active state by a preloaded resilient plate. After fastening, the belt remains fastened until the BRD is switched manually into inactive state by pulling a latch. The blade's smooth side and channel's smooth surfaces minimize belt wear. BRDs facilitate belt fastening for garments and footwear.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2020Date of Patent: December 29, 2020Inventor: Jezekiel Ben-Arie

The buckle is an integral one-piece member having an outer frame which defines an opening. A mounting plate securely attaches the buckle to the stirrup strap. One or a pair of posts are formed on spaced opposite members of the frame for insertion through selected spaced holes of the saddle strap. The posts which are located on the frame member that is adjacent the mounting plate, extend generally perpendicularly outwardly from the frame. The other posts extends outwardly from the opposite frame member in an opposite direction than that of the other posts, and are curved downwardly toward the frame opening, and are also inserted through other spaced holes in the saddle strap to secure the two straps together.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1993Date of Patent: September 26, 1995Inventor: Ben G. Patent number: 4413383Abstract: A buckle for a safety harness consists of two identical parts. Each part comprises a plate 10 having a D-shaped aperture 12 in one end, for receiving a harness, and a portion 14 at the other end folded at right angles to the rest of the plate 10 along an oblique fold line 16. A slot 18 extends half way along the fold line 16. A second plate 20 has a tab 22 welded to the portion 14 of the plate 10 at the side thereof adjacent to the slot 18. The two parts interlock with the upstanding portions 14 and 22 of one part projecting through the slot 18 in the other and vice versa. Tension applied to a harness connected to the apertures 12 tends to draw the ends 24 of the slots 18 into abutment with each other.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1980Date of Patent: November 8, 1983Assignee: Britax-Excelsior LimitedInventor: David N. Patent number: 4413465Abstract: A secure positively adjusting and locking buckle for saddle stirrup straps is provided in which the buckle components cannot slide on the strap following proper adjustment. The buckle components cannot be separated and lost. When locked, the buckle has a very compact configuration. It includes a thin depending metal strip sandwiched between strap layers by means of which the stirrup leather can have a permanent twist imparted to it to cause the stirrup to hang properly.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1981Date of Patent: November 8, 1983Inventors: Earl L. Patent number: 4319386Abstract: This invention relates to buckles and more particularly to a strap buckle for either forming a loop in a flexible strap or for securing one strap to another. It is particularly useful for securing and adjusting the cheek strap or connecting the throat strap of a bridle. The invention provides a rigid plate which is permanently secured to a strap. The plate has a stud designed to pass through an opening in the strap to be connected. The plate is also provided with a pair of sleeves through which both straps pass when they are superimposed over each other and connected. One of the sleeves is slidable along the plate and in one position is centered over the stud. The sleeves are rigid to eliminate flexing under loads which tend to pull the straps apart and thus prevent the straps being separated at the stud.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1979Date of Patent: March 16, 1982Inventor: Roger D. Patent number: 4179869Abstract: This invention relates to a formed leather sheath for covering the buckles of adjustable stirrup-supporting belts on a saddle, said sheath being characterized by a buckle-receiving pocket open on both ends, a necked-down section integrally formed on one open end sized to slide freely along the belt without passing over the buckle, strap-forming means depending from the other open end sized to encircle the belt, and fastener means cooperating with said strap means to define an openable collar effective in closed position with the necked-down position abutting one end of the buckle to engage the belt on the other end of said buckle and maintain the latter within the pocket.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1978Date of Patent: December 25, 1979Assignee: Thomas A. Patent number: 4141198Abstract: This relates to an adjustable stirrup leather which has a buckle construction of a nature wherein the billet end of the leather may be selectively placed in front of the buckle or rearwardly of the buckle depending upon the adjusted length of the stirrup leather so as always to be in an out-of-the-way position. This is accomplished by means of a buckle which may be selectively set to receive the billet leather on either side or face thereof, and there is associated with the billet leather and buckle a reversible slide for retaining the buckle interlocked with the billet leather.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1977Date of Patent: February 27, 1979Assignee: Tandy Brands, Inc.Inventor: Rudolph F. Patent number: 4102020Abstract: Device in connection with safety belts for vehicles comprising a holding part, which can be anchored in the vehicle, and which is provided with a slit through which the band of the belt is arranged to extend. The holding part is designed with a supporting surface, against which the band is arranged to bear, and with a number of locking teeth. The locking teeth are arranged to project from said surface and penetrate the band of the belt, when this is subjected to a load in such a direction that the band of the belt is pressed against said surface with a force, the magnitude of which exceeds a predetermined value.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1976Date of Patent: July 25, 1978Inventor: Stig Martin Lindblad
