Abstract: The invention relates to a cap for the neck of a container and to a method for producing one such cap. According to the invention, the skirt (12) of the cap (1) is provided with frangible bridge elements (44A, 44B) which break when the cap is first opened. In addition, on either side of the aforementioned frangible bridge elements, the skirt includes a non-removable part and a removable part provided with an outer biasing tab (24) that only extends along a peripheral portion (12A) of the skirt. In order to limit the biasing force of the tab, so as to release the removable skirt part, the radial dimension (e44A) of the bridges (44A) located in the skirt portion (12) associated with the tab is smaller than the radial dimension (e44B) of the bridges (44B) located outside said portion.

  • Publication number: 20140227338
Abstract: Porous polymers having a plurality of openings or chambers that are highly convoluted, with each chamber being defined by multiple, thin, flat partitions are produced by a new gel enhanced phase separation technique. In a preferred embodiment, a second liquid is added to a polymer solution, the second liquid causing the solution to increase in viscosity. With sufficient polymer and second liquid present, the increase in viscosity can be up to that of a gel. The gel can then be shaped as needed. Subsequent solvent extraction leaves the porous polymeric body of defined shape. The porous polymers have utility as medical prostheses, the porosity permitting ingrowth of neighboring tissue. A second material may be incorporated into the chambers, thereby creating a microstructure filling the voids of the macrostructure.

Abstract: Various devices, systems and methods for knotless suturing of tissue are disclosed. These devices allow sutures to be anchored to bone, and more specifically provide a suture anchor which eliminates the need for knotting the suture. Thus, damaged tissue may be re-attached to a substrate tissue. The anchors have a minimum of moving parts may be suited to being a single molded polymer construction. The anchors will find particular utility in hip and shoulder arthroscopy, e.g. labral re-attachment and similar procedures.

Abstract: A circuit package for housing semiconductor or other integrated circuit devices (“die”) includes a high-copper flange, one or more high-copper leads and a liquid crystal polymer frame molded to the flange and the leads. The flange includes a dovetail-shaped groove or other frame retention feature that mechanically interlocks with the molded frame. During molding, a portion of the frame forms a key that freezes in or around the frame retention feature. The leads include one or more lead retention features to mechanically interlock with the frame. During molding, a portion of the frame freezes in or adjacent these lead retention features. The frame includes compounds to prevent moisture infiltration and match its coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) to the CTE of the leads and flange. The is frame is formulated to withstand die-attach temperatures. A lid is ultrasonically welded to the frame after a die is attached to the flange.

Abstract: A preferred method of the invention introduces organosilicon polymer into the reservoir of a mold with trenches defining a negative mold impression of a feature that has a high aspect ratio in fluid communication with the micro-dimensioned reservoir. The mold is preferably coated with a low-stiction coating. The polymer is moved via capillary action into the negative mold from the reservoir. The polymer is cured. The polymer is then released from the mold. Preferably, the polymer is soaked in a releasing solution prior to release. Preferably, the polymer is released by gripping cured polymer in the reservoir and gently peeling the cured micropolymer from the mold. In preferred embodiments, the polymer is poly-dimethyl-siloxane (PDMS). A preferred structure formed by methods of the invention is polymer microbeam in a liquid having a length of one to a few millimeters and a stiffness of k<0.1 pN/?m. Aerodynamic features can be created along with the beam.
