Gas And Water Specific Plumbing Component Making Patents (Class 29/890.14)
  • Patent number: 6371525
Abstract: A riser assembly to transmit gas from a buried fluid line to a manifold. Inner (50) and outer (90) casings are received in a first end of an adapter (54). The other end of the adapter (60) is secured to the manifold. A gripping assembly (70) holds the inner casing in the adapter and prevents a pullout while also providing a sealed inner face between the inner casing and the adapter. A mounting assembly is provided to secure the outer casing in the adapter. It, too, prevents pullout of the outer casing and also allows the outer casing to freely rotate relative to the adapter. In selected embodiments the outer casing is formed of a non-corrosive material such as a PVC or polyethelene to address corrosion resistant properties.

  • Patent number: 6327771
Abstract: A reduced resistance bead seal is integrally formed on a mounting surface of two matingly engageable members to form a leak-free seal between the two members despite any eccentricity or angular variances between the two members. In one embodiment, the reduced resistance bead is formed on an inner conical flange of an inverted flared end of a hollow fluid conduit. The bead presents a deformable surface as a fitting urges the flared end of the conduit into engagement with a conical seat in a receiver where eccentricity or angular variances exist between the flared end of the conduit and the conical seat. A unique method and a unique forming tool are used to form the reduced resistance bead in the flared end of the conduit simultaneously with the flaring of the end of the conduit.

  • Patent number: 6298555
Abstract: A method for making a polygonal duct from a flat, rectangular panel including the steps of providing longitudinally extending cuts in the panel, folding the panel into the desired polygonal shape, assembling a grip flange to the opposing edge portions of the panel and coupling the grip flanges together. The grip flange is a two-piece grip flange including snap-together male and female sections with cross-sectional shapes similar to an L and an F, respectively, which when snapped together form a panel insertion channel to both frictionally engage the surface of the edge portion of the panel and clamp the edge portion through forcible deformation of the edge portion to form a permanent and secure attachment to the panel without the use of any hardware, adhesive or welding.

  • Patent number: 6293013
Abstract: A backflow prevention assembly has a unitary housing with a passage therethrough, two threaded regions formed in an inner surface of the unitary housing, and two valve assemblies positioned in the passage to prevent fluid flow in a direction. Each valve assembly has an annular mount having a threaded outer surface that engages one of the threaded regions on the inner surface of the housing. The threads can be formed by placing a die having a thread on an outer surface thereof in contact with an inner surface of the unitary housing, and pressing on the outer surface of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6226868
Abstract: A method for producing a connector for a fuel injection nozzle of an internal combustion engine and a method of producing the connector at a reduced cost are disclosed wherein the connector has light weight and exhibits excellent dimensional accuracy. The connector 20 includes a cylindrical fuel injection nozzle fitting portion 21 of which one end is designed to have a flared peripheral surface 23 and of which the other end includes a delivery pipe connecting portion 22 having a diameter smaller than that of the cylindrical fuel injection nozzle fitting portion 21. A plate-shaped position determining portion 24 is formed integral with the flared peripheral surface 23 of the cylindrical fuel injection nozzle fitting portion 21 at a predetermined position. The position determining portion 24 is for determining the position of the connector relative to the fuel injection nozzle and is angularly bent relatively to the injection nozzle fitting portion. The connector is made entirely of a sheet metal.

  • Patent number: 6219917
Abstract: A method of assembling a gas supply device within an appliance cabinet is disclosed. The method comprises bending a tube assembly prior to installation in the appliance, attaching a fitting to the first end of the tube, attaching the fitting of the first end of the tube to a burner assembly, attaching a second fitting having a non-circular portion to the second end of the tube, attaching a mounting bracket with a non-circular profile to the non-circular portion of the second fitting in a fixed condition to prevent rotation of the body with respect to the bracket, and mounting the tube assembly in the appliance cabinet.

  • Patent number: 6202284
Abstract: A metal pipe fitting and a method of fitting pipes together, the metal fitting having at least one mouth opening for receiving a mating length of metal pipe. The pipe fitting comprises a generally cylindrical sleeve having an exterior surface, interior surface, and a proximate end and a distal end. The proximate end forms at least one mouth opening for the fitting. The sleeve has a circumferential groove formed within the interior surface between the proximate and distal ends thereof and a seal ring located within the circumferential groove. There is at least one inspection divet which penetrates the exterior surface of the sleeve to the interior thereof to reveal the exterior of the mating length of metal pipe for verifying the proper insertion of the metal pipe.

  • Patent number: 6173495
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a low-carbon steel pressure vessel, which may be used as an inflator housing (18), comprises providing a cylindrical billet of low-carbon steel which comprises by weight about 0.07% to about 0.15% carbon, about 1% to about 2% manganese, less than about 0.02% phosphorous, less than about 0.015% sulfur, about 0.5% to about 2.10% chromium, about 0.2% to about 1.0% nickel, about 0.2% to about 0.7% molybdenum, less than about 0.65% copper, less than about 0.25% residual elements, and the balance of the composition iron. A tube is formed with a cylindrical wall by axially piercing the cylindrical billet, while the cylindrical billet is heated is at a temperature of about 1000° C. to about 1300° C. The thickness of the cylindrical wall is then reduced to a first thickness by a first cold drawing of the tube. The tube is annealed after the first cold drawing. The thickness of the cylindrical wall is further reduced to a second thickness by a second cold drawing.
