  • Patent number: 11938095
Abstract: A pill can be positioned on a first housing of a pill splitter. A second housing of the splitter can be pushed downward onto the first housing. A second blade can be secured to the second housing, and the pushing of the second housing downward toward the closed position can split the pill by bringing the second blade toward a first blade with cutting edges of both blades cutting into the pill. Also, the second housing can be configured to slide in a linear direction to split the pill and form a closed pill container space. The pill splitter can include a platform that is configured to move to hide or expose one of the blades. The first housing may include a spring device integrally formed with a foundation and/or the platform, with the spring device biasing the platform relative to the foundation toward the hiding position.

  • Patent number: 11338463
Abstract: A conduit cutting assembly is comprised of a conduit cutting surface, a drive shaft, a top shield and a bottom guide. The conduit cutting assembly is inserted into a rotary device which provides a torque to rotate the conduit cutting assembly. The shield glides along the top surface of the conduit preventing deeper penetration of the cutting surface and deflecting dust as conduit is cut. The guide is positioned on the internal side of the conduit and prevents the cutting surface from contacting encased wiring. The distance between the bottom surface of the shield and the top surface of the guide is closely aligned to the conduit wall thickness. Conduit cutting assemblies can be customized for conduit material and conduit wall thickness. The conduit cutting assembly safely cuts through conduit without damaging encased wiring, limits incidental contact with the cutting surface, and limits contact with dust generated through the cutting procedure.

  • Patent number: 10813678
Abstract: A debris collection device includes first and second members that are moveable relative to each other between first and second configurations. In the second configuration, the first and second members interface with each other and define a restraint opening that is configured to receive an elongate element, such as a spinal rod. The first and second members while in the second configuration define a guide opening that intersects the restraint opening. Such guide opening is configured to receive a cutting tool, such as a conical burr, drill bit, mill or saw. The first and second members have walls that, when in the second configuration, collectively define an interior space that has a volume sufficient to collect debris created by cutting the elongate element through the guide opening. Methods of utilizing the debris collection device allow for cutting of a spinal rod or the like in situ while capture debris caused by the cutting procedure.

  • Patent number: 10668544
Abstract: The present invention discloses a ring cutter and ring cracker intended for use by medical personnel. The ring cutter employs a tissue guard that slips under the ring to protect the patient's finger or other appendage. A clipper head is inserted into the tissue guard. The tissue guard does not move and prevents the jaws of the clipper from injuring the patient. The tissue guard may be constructed of plastic that will break away after use to prevent contamination between patients. The invention also incorporates a ring cracker for breaking tungsten or ceramic rings. A recess in a ring base in one of the arms of the ring clipper retains a part of a ring. In the other arm, a threaded bolt with a hardened tip extends toward the ring. The arms of the clipper can be locked by a bar in a fixed position. A knob on the bolt allows a hardened tip at the end of the bolt to exert pressure on the tungsten or ceramic ring until it cracks, without injury to the patient.

Each battery cell is connected in series with a switching device, such as a field effect transistor (FET) and optionally a current sensing device. In a charging mode, the serially connected FET conducts, thus enabling the battery cell to be charged. Battery voltage is sensed by a microprocessor. When the microprocessor senses that the battery cell is fully charged, the FET is turned off, thus disconnecting the battery cell from the circuit. Since the battery cell is disconnected from the circuit, no additional active devices are required to protect the battery cell from discharge.

Abstract: A specialized wood splitting tool and chopping block, used together, enable cutting kindling from ordinary firewood in an effective and safe manner. The splitting tool uses leverage in addition to downward momentum of the cutting head to split wood. The metal handle and metal cutting head are preferably formed from a single piece of steel, in a perpendicular configuration similar to an adz. A splitting wedge blade within the handle exerts transverse shear forces to enhance splitting, and flat upper surfaces of the cutting head and the handle near the joint provide a striking surface. A complimentary chopping block for bracing logs of various diameters in a steady upright position has a V-shaped recess that is open on one end. The chopping block provides resistance to the unique leverage of the splitting tool during the splitting action.

Abstract: A cutting machine includes a housing accommodating a motor. In the housing, a cutting blade, an air duct, a dust collecting channel and a shutter member are provided. The cutting blade is operated with the driven motor to cut a workpiece, and the air duct allows cooling air generated by a cooling fan for the motor to be blown out onto a cutting place of the workpiece. The dust collecting channel has an opening at one end for serving as a dust collecting port located near the cutting place and an opening at the other end for permitting coupling of a dust collecting nozzle. The shutter member is movable between a closed position and an open position of the air duct and located in the open position in a normal state.

Abstract: A weed trimmer extension device for cutting and collecting, or dispersing weeds includes a cutting enclosure, to which can be attached a collecting bag or a cutting disperser. The weed trimmer extension device can be attached to a standard weed trimmer with common fastening components. The cutting enclosure covers a cutting implement, which propels the cuttings, contained and directed by the cutting enclosure, into either the collecting bag or the cutting disperser, which disperses the weed cuttings over an area to the side. A cutting implement can include a cutting blade and a cutting string, so that the cutting string has a greater cutting radius, to allow the cutting string to operate close to an obstruction, without the cutting blade potentially causing damage to the obstruction. Also disclosed is a weed trimmer with a cutting enclosure, to which can be attached either a collecting bag or a cutting disperser.
