  • Patent number: 7040021
Abstract: A hand held hair trimming device which when pulled through the hair trims only a determined portion of the ends of hair strands while leaving adjacent hairs uncut. The device will cut a predetermined length off only the distal ends of the hair shafts each time it has the hair drawn through one or a plurality of serpentine pathways formed by retainer cavities and an engageable retainer. The cutting head portion of the device may be removed and replaced and optional hair dryer or vacuum may be attached to an aperture on the rear of the cutting head to dry hair, vacate cut ends, or encourage distal ends of hairs toward the cutting blade.

  • Patent number: 6857191
Abstract: A rotary knife having a ring blade that defines a closed loop cutting surface for cutting material which the ring blade contacts during rotation. Materials cut using the blade such as meat cut from a carcass or trimmed from a piece of meat are suctioned away from the blade. The material is drawn into a blade housing which supports the ring blade. A housing body has a wall that defines a housing interior into which material separated by the cutting surface of the ring blade moves as it is cut. The blade housing body defines a bearing surface that is defined by a wall of the housing body that supports the ring blade and allows the ring blade to rotate with respect to the blade housing. Alternate coupling designed of the housing body allow the blade housing to be coupled to a suction tube for withdrawing meat from the interior of the blade housing.

  • Patent number: 6829827
Abstract: An artistic knife with spare blades, including a main body in which a blade seat is back and forth slidably disposed. The main body is formed with a receptacle corresponding to the blade seat for receiving multiple spare blades. Each blade has more than one engaging notch. The blade seat is provided with a transversely movable engaging block corresponding to the engaging notch of the blade for inserting therein. When the blade seat is slided forward, the blade is driven to extend out of the main body. The main body has a guide rail corresponding to the engaging block. By means of the guiding and restriction of the guide rail, in the travel of the blade pushed out by the blade seat, the engaging block is inserted into the engaging notches of the blade deeper and deeper. In returning travel, the depth by which the engaging block is inserted in the engaging notch is gradually reduced until it is slightly smaller than the thickness of the blade. Therefore, the engaging block can be truly engaged with the blade.

  • Patent number: 6523545
Abstract: A device for retaining nail clippings within a nail clipper includes a housing adapted to cover the openings between the clippers elongate members, on both sides, from the first ends to the second ends thereof, thereby forming an enclosed region within the nail clipper. In addition, the device includes a valve element, adapted to be located between the elongate members, for blocking the passage of the nail clippings from the region of the jaw to the tail of the nail clipper when the jaw is opened and for allowing passage of the nail clippings when the jaw is closed. This allows nail clippings to pass to the region between the elongate members when the nails are being clipped and thereafter to be retained in this region when the jaw is opened. Thus, in effect, the valve works as a one way valve, permitting passage of the nail clippings into, but not out of, the nail clipper.

  • Patent number: 6449851
Abstract: The invention relates to a powered reciprocating saw, in particular, to a pruning saw. To simplify use of the saw, a clamping mechanism is provided which holds an object in position while it is sawed. The clamping mechanism includes a clamping arm that is mounted at the front portion of the saw housing near the blade by a one way rotary clutch such that the arm can freely rotate in only one direction. During use, the saw vibrates due to its reciprocating parts. Since the clamping arm has a center of mass spaced apart from the axis of rotation provided by the one way rotary clutch, a progressive rotational movement of the clamping arm results which thereby automatically closes to clamp the object to be cut.
