Abstract: A powered vinyl groover includes a motor attached to a circular blade and a blade housing for covering the circular blade. The blade housing includes a duct to carry cuttings into a collection bag. Near an inlet hole of the duct is a fin, which may be a raised surface on any interior wall of the blade housing extending into the blade housing as close as possible to the blade. The fin causes airflow from the blade to be redirected towards the inlet hole of the duct so that more cuttings enter the duct and are carried by the duct through to an outlet hole to a collection bag mountable over the outlet hole of the duct. The fin may be integral with the blade housing or attached to it, and a fin may also be added to existing groovers.

The airflow passes along a pipe section from the shroud to the vacuum source, where the debris can be collected. The shroud is generally U-shaped and symmetrical such that it extends around other jigsaw components, such as the orbital action bell crank. As a result, the pipe can be fitted on either side of the jigsaw's shoe or footplate and engage with the shroud. The airflow in the immediate area of the cutting blade is transverse to the cut direction, thereby removing debris from the line-of-sight of the operator. Abstract: The present invention provides a pill splitter designed for cutting pills in a relatively safe manner. The pill splitter includes a main body with a top housing and a bottom housing having a blade mounted thereto. The top housing has a slot defined therein for receipt of the blade. The top housing moves relative to the bottom housing. A lid is hingedly connected to the top housing. A locking mechanism is positioned on the lid for controlling the movement of the top housing relative to the bottom housing and the blade. In the protected position, when the locking mechanism is engaged, the top housing resides in front of the blade to prevent a user from contacting the blade. In the cutting position, when the locking mechanism is disengaged, the blade is routed through the slot in the top housing thereby exposing a cutting edge thereof for cutting a pill.

Abstract: The present invention provides a pill splitter that is designed for cutting pills in a relatively safe and reliable manner. The pill splitter includes a main body with a top housing and a bottom housing having a blade mounted thereto. The top housing has a slot defined therein for receipt of the blade. The top housing moves relative to the bottom housing between a protected position, unexposed blade, and a cutting position, exposed blade. In the protected position, the top housing resides in front of the blade to prevent a user from contacting the blade. In the cutting position, the blade is routed through the slot in the top housing thereby exposing a cutting edge thereof for cutting a pill.

  • Patent number: 7219435
Abstract: Fanned air generated by a fan to cool a motor is discharged from a housing through fanned air discharge ports toward an opening formed in a base. The fanned air discharged toward the opening is then introduced into a groove in fluid communication with the opening. The groove is formed in a bottom surface of the base and has an open side at a front side of the base. The fanned air is then discharged from the front side of the base, blowing off saw dust on a cutting object so as to prevent dust from accumulating on a marking line on the cutting object.

  • Patent number: 7182595
Abstract: A flush cutter of wires located on a patient's teeth has at least one pivotably carried cutting edge. An outer surface of the edge can be positioned adjacent to a surface from which the wire protrudes. An elastic insert or clamp, for griping cut wire ends, is carried adjacent to the edge. The insert has first and second spaced apart ends. A rigid surface is located to pivot toward the edge. The elastic clamp extends, in part, to the inner surface of the edge. As the cutting edge moves toward the rigid surface to cut the wire, the elastic clamp grips the cutoff wire end for removal. The rigid surface can be formed as a second cutting edge that moves toward the one cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 7121008
Abstract: The invention relates to a powered reciprocating saw. To simplify use of the saw, a clamping mechanism is provided which holds an object in position while it is sawn. The clamping mechanism is mounted at the front of the housing of the saw near the saw blade. The clamping mechanism comprises: a slide element for sliding movement in the cutting direction, a supporting member, and a clamping arm rotatably mounted on the slide element by a one way clutch to clamp an object therebetween in a clamping position below the saw blade. When the saw is in use, it vibrates. Since the clamping arm has a moment of inertia with respect to the axis of rotation of the one way clutch, the oscillating movement is transformed into a progressive rotational movement of the clamping arm to clamp an object.
