Each waveguide includes: an optical waveguide layer that propagates light supplied to the waveguide in a second direction intersecting the first direction; a first mirror having a first reflecting surface intersecting a third direction; and a second mirror having a second reflecting surface that faces the first reflecting surface. The optical waveguide layer is located between the first and second mirrors and has a variable thickness and/or a variable refractive index for the light. The width of the first mirror and the width of the second mirror are each larger than the width of the optical waveguide layer. The first mirror has a higher light transmittance than the second mirror and allows part of the light propagating through the optical waveguide layer to be emitted in the third direction.

The dynamic low-pitched speaker is disposed in the housing. The dynamic low-pitched speaker is disposed at the separating portion and opposite the high-pitched speaker.

    Abstract: A PZT microactuator such as for a hard disk drive is a multi-layer PZT in which a first layer of PZT material that is disposed away from the side of the microactuator that is bonded to the suspension, responds to an actuation voltage differently than does a second layer of PZT material that is closer to the suspension, thus acting as a constraining layer and thus increasing stroke sensitivity of the microactuator. The first layer of PZT material can be made to respond differently than the second layer by not being activated, by being thicker that the second layer, or by being reverse poled as compared to the second layer. The effective stroke length of the microactuator is increased by the presence and effect of constraining layer.

    Abstract: A piezoelectric multiplexer includes an actuator and multiple piezo-morph beams. The actuator includes an actuator conducting head and an actuator stem, and each piezo-morph beam includes a conducting beam contact head and a beam stem manufactured out of piezo-morph material. A control voltage is selectively applied to electrical contacts coupled to the beam stems to create a piezoelectric effect that bends the selected piezo-morph beam and creates an electrical connection between its contact head and the conducting head of the actuator. A control circuit with a controller signals which piezo-morph beam to connect to the actuator. This multi-piezo-morph-beam piezoelectric multiplexer can be affixed to the electrical terminals of different electrical components (e.g., a transistor) to create an electrical cell that can be manufactured on a semiconductor chip or in a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) device.

For example, the air channel may include a surface that is in thermal contact with a processor of the mobile computing device. In embodiments, the piezoelectric active cooling device may be used in an air gap between stacked packages in a package on package (PoP) processor package. The described embodiments provide active cooling using low power, can be controlled to provide variable cooling, use highly reliable elements, and can be implemented at low cost.
