  • Patent number: 6256899
Abstract: A guide for a hand held power cutting tool of the type having a blade extending through a base plate, includes a stem element having distance gradations thereon and a cutting tool guide piece attached to an end of the stem element. A shoe element is provided for engaging surfaces of a work piece and an anvil element is adjustably connected to the shoe element whereby the anvil element is movable longitudinally with respect to the shoe element. The anvil element engages an upper surface of the shoe element to form an opening therewith through which the stem element slidably passes so that the stem element is adjustable longitudinally with respect to the opening to position the guide piece at a location whereby when an edge of the base plate engages a front face of the guide piece, the blade will cut the work piece at a desired length.

  • Patent number: 5769768
Abstract: In a tool changer system comprising one or more tool grippers together with a pressure foot insert change pod supported on a U-V slide which is independent of the machine work table. The slide services a tool magazine mounted on the machine tool in close proximity to the work table. Because the tool changer is independent of the machine table, the selection and retrieval of the next tool to be used is performed while the machine tool is working. Similarly, the replacement of the tool back into its storage location is done while the machine tool is working. The exchanging of the pressure foot insert is done as part of the tool change process. Time is saved because the work table does not have to be moved to position the tool changer under the spindle. In fact, the work table may be moved to the next work location while the tool changer changes the tool in the spindle.

  • Patent number: 5299609
Abstract: A positioning device is disclosed that positions and guides a nominally hand-held router or other machine tool for machining with respect to a workpiece that is used as a reference. A novel configuration is employed in which a main body holds a centrally located lead screw and attached micrometer dial. Two guide shafts are disposed flanking the lead screw. A transversely disposed yoke bar spans the lead screw and both guide shafts; these can each be locked in place by knurled thumscrews threaded into the yoke bar. A vernier adjustment knob rotating the lead screw drives the yoke bar and provides fine position adjustment that is both accurate and repeatable, and which can be locked by a knurled thumbscrew threaded into the yoke bar. The guide shafts accept the coarse adjustment by sliding through the yoke bar, where they can be locked in place by a pair of knurled thumbscrews threaded into the yoke bar to retain the coarse adjustment.
