  • Patent number: 10102494
Abstract: Methods, computer-readable medium, and apparatus are described for detecting a plurality of package types in the custody of a node-enabled logistics receptacle in a wireless node network. The receptacle detects a first type of package by receiving a signal broadcast from a node within a first node-enabled package prior to sensing a deposit of the first package. The receptacle also detects a second type of package (not a node-enabled package) by sensing a deposit of a second package without receiving a signal broadcast from a node within the second package. The node-enabled logistics receptacle then logs the detections of the first type of package and the second type of package. Then, the node-enabled logistics receptacle notifies another network device within the wireless node network about the logged detection of the first type of package and the second type of package.

  • Patent number: 10083593
Abstract: A mobile cart that holds a bag for receiving solid waste generated during a medical or surgical procedure. The cart includes a sensor that monitors whether or not an object containing metal is placed in the bag. A processor monitors the signal output by the sensor. If the sensor signal indicates that an object with a minimal amount of metal is placed in the bag, the processor momentarily asserts an audible alarm and continuously asserts a light alarm. The light alarm remains asserted until turned off. If, while the light alarm is on, the sensor signal indicates a second object with the minimal amount of waste is placed in the container, the processor again momentarily asserts the audible alarm. This provides notice that it may be necessary to investigate the contents of the bag to determine if not one but two or more objects were inadvertently discarded.

  • Patent number: 9916745
Abstract: A container fraud detection system and method using one or more wireless communication tags attached to a container in specific ways to ensure the authenticity of the contents. The tag is affixed to the container in such a way that the tag is destroyed upon opening of the container, thereby indicating fraud upon scanning. The tag may be affixed to the container by an adhesive strip, polymer film or wax composition. The tag may be affixed to an adhesive strip prior to application of the strip to a container. Two tags on the container or strip may be cryptographically linked. The tag information is accessible through a scanning device which communicates with a database that stores information about the container and analyzes the probability of fraud with an algorithm.

Abstract: Various methods and devices are provided for integrating location tracking and cargo identification. For example, an identification of a cargo carrier can be provided, such as by an identification or tracking device associated with the cargo carrier. Also, an identification of a carried asset can be provided, such as by a tag or optical code associated with the carried asset. Further, a determination can be made whether the carried asset is being added to or removed from the cargo carrier. This could be done automatically or based on user input. This information can be collected and stored in association with each other so that location information about the carried asset can be provided to users.

  • Patent number: 9907103
Abstract: The present invention provides a mobile terminal includes a first information recording unit configured to record first motion information of the mobile terminal, and a first pairing processing unit configured to generate a first pairing request. The first pairing request includes the first motion information which will be used as a pairing key, or a second pairing request is parsed. The second pairing request is received from a wearable device by a first data interaction unit, and the second pairing request includes second motion information from the wearable device which will be used as a pairing key. When the second motion information matches the first motion information, the first pairing processing unit generates a response message for the second pairing request, to realize pairing and connection between the mobile terminal and the wearable device. The present invention further provides a wearable device and a pairing method.

Abstract: Systems and methods of securing chattels are provided. Motion of a first container can be measured by a sensor over an interval of time and compared to motion of a second container. A relative difference between the motion of the first container and the motion of the second container over the interval of time can be calculated by a data processing circuit. A determination can be made by the data processing circuit that the relative difference in motion of the containers exceeds a predetermined threshold. An alert that the threshold has been exceeded can be transmitted by a transmitting circuit to a remote server. A SIM card and a modem can be associated with a container. Information corresponding to the location and identification of the SIM card can be received by the modem. The location and identification information can be transmitted by the modem to a remote server.

  • Patent number: 9858778
Abstract: A programmable security system and method for protecting an item of merchandise includes a programming station, a programmable key and a security system. The programming station generates a security code and communicates the security code to a memory of the programmable key. The programmable key initially communicates the security code to a memory of the security device and subsequently operates the security device upon a matching of the security code in the memory of the security device with the security code in the memory of the programmable key. The programmable key may also transfer power via electrical contacts or inductive transfer from an internal battery to the security device to operate a lock mechanism. The security code may be communicated by wireless infrared (IR) systems, electrical contacts or inductive transfer. A timer inactivates the programmable key and/or the security device after a predetermine period of time.

Abstract: Various solutions for acquiring data across a deployed encrypted mesh network, using a digital security controlled, identification badge or tag. The communications are facilitated to the respective portable device via nodes within the deployed encrypted mesh network, supervised by a hierarchal managing system. A distributed security code is affiliated and triggers an audible or visible signal shared across the network, either as a verification signal or status signal. A counterfeit, non-connected device would not display the correct image, or cue used to validate the identification credentials, etc. and, thereby indicate to immediate personnel that the badge (and the wearer, thereof) is not authorized. Assets can such as cargo containers, pallets, security boxes, etc., with an asset tag are similarly protected. An unauthorized shipment with its counterfeit tag would fail to reflect the appropriate status pursuant to the updated security code to the attending personnel.

Abstract: An RFID loss-prevention system (LPS) may monitor RFID-tagged items in a facility. An RFID reader transmits a first inventory command configured to cause tags in a first state to respond, receive a reply from a first tag, determine that the first tag has a low transition risk, and cause the first tag to switch to a second state. The reader may also receive a reply from a second tag, determine that the second tag has a high transition risk, and cause the second tag to remain in the first state. The reader may then transmit a second inventory command configured to cause tags in the first state to respond, receive a reply from the second tag in response to the second inventory command, determine that the second tag has inappropriately exited the facility, and issue an alert.
