Input/output Liquid Crystal Display Panel Patents (Class 345/104)
  • Patent number: 8253683
Abstract: It is intended to reduce the number of exclusive signal interconnections for connecting a host module to a liquid crystal display driver for a sub-display, and peripheral devices, respectively. A liquid crystal display drive and control device comprises, over one semiconductor substrate, a host interface circuit, a drive circuit, and an output port. The host interface circuit is used for connection with the host module. The drive circuit generates a drive signal for driving a liquid crystal display on the basis of information inputted to the host interface circuit before outputting. The output port is capable of controlling a logic level of an output signal on the basis of the information inputted to the host interface circuit.

Abstract: A common-voltage compensation circuit functions to provide a crosstalk interference suppressing mechanism for use in a liquid crystal display having a liquid-crystal capacitor and a storage capacitor. The compensation circuit includes a buffer for receiving a preliminary common voltage, a current/voltage converter, a high-pass filter and a ripple-voltage inverter. The current/voltage converter is utilized for generating a liquid-crystal capacitor common voltage furnished to the liquid-crystal capacitor according to an output current of the buffer. The high-pass filter performs a high-pass filtering operation on the liquid-crystal capacitor common voltage for extracting a ripple voltage. The ripple-voltage inverter is employed to generate a storage capacitor common voltage furnished to the storage capacitor through performing an inverting operation on the ripple voltage based on the preliminary common voltage.

A standard cell used for the logic synthesis and the routing of layout is configured by a logic circuit on an output side and a logic circuit on an input side and a driving capacity of the logic circuit on the output side is made large while gate input capacitance of the logic circuit on the input side is made small. By forming the standard cell in this manner, a ratio that the gate delay occupies in the delay time of a functional circuit can be relatively increased. Therefore, even when wiring capacitance after the routing of layout is not estimated at high precision in advance, an operating frequency can be obtained at high precision in the logic synthesis as long as a gate delay of each standard cell can be estimated at high precision.

Abstract: This relates to adding multi-touch functionality to a display without the need of a separate multi-touch panel or layer overlaying the display. Instead, embodiments of the invention can advantageously utilize existing display circuitry to provide multi-touch functionality while adding relatively little circuitry that is specific to the multi-touch functionality. Thus, by sharing circuitry for the display and the multi-touch functionalities, embodiments of the invention can be implemented at a lower cost than the alternative of superimposing additional multi-touch related layers onto an existing display panel. Furthermore, since the display and multi-touch functionality can be implemented on the same circuit, they can be synchronized so that noise resulting from the display functionality does not detrimentally affect the multi-touch functionality and vice versa.
