  • Patent number: 10893227
Abstract: Using the same image sensor to capture a two-dimensional (2D) image and three-dimensional (3D) depth measurements for a 3D object. A laser point-scans the surface of the object with light spots, which are detected by a pixel array in the image sensor to generate the 3D depth profile of the object using triangulation. Each row of pixels in the pixel array forms an epipolar line of the corresponding laser scan line. Timestamping provides a correspondence between the pixel location of a captured light spot and the respective scan angle of the laser to remove any ambiguity in triangulation. An Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) in the image sensor operates as a Time-to-Digital (TDC) converter to generate timestamps. A timestamp calibration circuit is provided on-board to record the propagation delay of each column of pixels in the pixel array and to provide necessary corrections to the timestamp values generated during 3D depth measurements.

  • Patent number: 10891894
Abstract: Brightness irregularities that develop in a light emitting device due to is persion among pixels in the threshold values of TFTs used for supplying electric current to light emitting devices become obstacles to improved image quality of the light emitting device. As an image signal input to a pixel from a source signal line, a desired electric potential is applied to a gate electrode of a TFT for supplying electric current to an EL device, through a TFT having its gate and drain connected to each other. A voltage equal to the TFT threshold value is produced between the source and the drain of the TFT 105. An electric potential in which the image signal is offset by the amount of the threshold value is therefore applied to the gate electrode of the TFT. Further, TFTs are disposed in close proximity to each other within the pixel, so that dispersions in the TFT characteristics do not easily develop.

Abstract: A GPU is generally configured to detect changes in the rate of frame generation that can result from, for example, changes in the complexity of the frames being generated. In response to detecting the change in the rate of frame generation, the GPU identifies a corresponding change in the refresh rate that would be required to fully synchronize the refresh rate with the rate of frame generation. If the change in the refresh rate falls outside the boundaries of a specified or dynamically generated window, the GPU limits the change in refresh rate to the corresponding boundary.

Abstract: A system is provided for controlling an array of pixels in a display in which each pixel includes a light-emitting device and a reference voltage source that controllably supplies a reference voltage having a magnitude that turns off the light-emitting device. While the reference voltage is coupled to a drive transistor, a control voltage is supplied to the gate of the drive transistor to cause the drive transistor to transfer to a node common to the drive transistor and the light-emitting device, a voltage that is a function of the threshold voltage and mobility of the drive transistor. During an emission cycle, the current conveyed through the light emitting device via the drive transistor is controlled by a voltage stored in the storage capacitor, which is a function of the threshold voltage and mobility of the drive transistor so that the current supplied to the light-emitting device remains stable.

One field of view may be a field visible from or facing a surface of the mobile device on which the camera is disposed (e.g., the back of the mobile device) and another field of view may be one visible from or facing a different surface of the mobile device. Also described are embodiments of techniques for configuring a mobile device to capture and/or process images from multiple fields of view.
