  • Patent number: 7830541
Abstract: A method for providing a secure fax confirmation page from a facsimile capable device having a user interface includes receiving documents, in the form of a fax job, to be transmitted by the facsimile capable device. After receipt of a recipient's fax number, a determination is made as to whether secure fax confirmation has been selected from the user interface. A passcode is received prior to scanning of the documents. The interface displays a fax job list, which identifies whether a secure fax confirmation page is associated with individual fax jobs. Upon selection of a confirmation page by the operator, the facsimile capable device prints a secure fax confirmation page.

  • Patent number: 7796284
Abstract: The present invention provides an image processing apparatus and an image processing method for reducing burden of managing documents on a user, the burden being caused when image data is retransmitted and when both a previously transmitted document and the retransmitted document are stored. To accomplish this, a user selects a transmitted document from a transmission history stored in an image processing apparatus and requests a processing status of the selected document to an image processing apparatus on a receiver side. The image processing apparatus on the receiver side determines the processing status, puts output restrictions on the selected document, and transmits the determination result. The image processing apparatus on the transmitter side receives the response and transmits replacing image data. The image processing apparatus on the receiver side replaces the previously received document with the replacing image data and cancels the output restrictions.

Accordingly, the facsimile device can reliably prevent a false detection of a noise that has a similar signal component to a CNG signal as a CNG signal. It is possible to prevent the facsimile machine from being automatically shifted to a facsimile receiving made by the false detection of the noise.

  • Patent number: 7733848
Abstract: In order to enable V.34 fax relay communications over IP (“FoIP”) without increasing a gateway complexity, the gateway relays all types of fax control signals in demodulated form and transfers fax image type signals either as demodulated or as PCM encoded signal, based on a predetermined condition. The PCM data type is added to FoIP protocol to allow transferring PCM encoded fax image signals without exiting from FoIP mode of operation until the completion of a fax call. During a FoIP call, the communicating gateway determines whether the input fax signal is a ‘fax control signal’ or a ‘fax image’ type signal. If the gateway determines that the input signal is a fax control signal or supported fax image signal, it handles it in a traditional fax relay manner. However, if the gateway determines that the input fax image type signal cannot be demodulated, it outputs the fax signal to the IP network as PCM encoded signal and without performing demodulation.

Abstract: A communication device transmits voice and facsimile signals in the same channel between a terminal device and a packet network. The communication device has an echo canceler and a jitter buffer. The jitter buffer has a delay recovery control function that selectively deletes data from the jitter buffer to recover from packet delays. After detecting a facsimile tone, the communication device waits to detect a certain interval of silence, then deactivates its echo canceler and delay recovery control function and switches into facsimile communication mode. If a certain interval of silence is detected during the facsimile transmission, the communication device reactivates its echo canceler and delay recovery control function and continues communicating in voice mode if the line is left connected.

Abstract: An image input and output system is provided in which a common operation screen for a plurality of image output devices having different attributes is displayed. Based on attribute information of each of printers, the server generates a signal for generating an operation screen, and transmits the signal to the scanner. At the scanner, image data is inputted, and a common operation screen, which is generated based on the signal for generating the operation screen, is displayed on a display panel. When information designating the printer and information relating to an output format of an image is inputted from the display panel, the inputted information and the image data are transmitted to the server. The server transmits, to a designated printer, the image data and the information relating to the output format of the image, which are transmitted from the scanner, and images are outputted.

Abstract: There are provided a communication apparatus and method that enables the retransmission of an electronic mail if an error occurs in the transmission of the electronic mail due to its excessive data size, by reducing the data capacity of the electronic mail without taking time and labor, and a program for implementing the method. In a digital copying machine as the communication apparatus, when an electronic mail that notifies an error relating to an electronic mail transmitted with image data attached is received, the error notification electronic mail is analyzed. If an error that is attributable to the data capacity of the electronic mail is detected from the analysis result, the image data attached to the electronic mail for which the error notice has been received is acquired and the capacity of the image data is reduced by lowering its resolution. The electronic mail to which the image data thus reduced in capacity is attached is retransmitted.
