  • Patent number: 9124839
Abstract: A color separating unit separates a color image into plural color components to generate images of respective colors. A periodicity determining unit determines, for each of the color images, whether an image region including a target pixel whose pixel value is to be interpolated is a periodic region in which pixel values vary periodically. A first generating unit generates pixel values of the respective colors of a pixel using a first interpolation method. A second generating unit generates pixel values of the respective colors of a pixel using a second interpolation method. A control unit determines which one of the first and second generating units is to be used for generating pixel values of the respective colors of the target pixel. • Patent number: 9025222
Abstract: Methods and systems methods calculate an initial matrix by correlating scanned test device-dependent values to device-independent color space values of a test sheet. The initial matrix converts device-dependent values to device-independent color space values; however, the initial matrix does include some conversion error. Such methods then calculate an inverse matrix from the initial matrix. These methods and systems then calculate target device-dependent values by applying the device-independent color space values to the inverse matrix. The methods and systems derive final one-dimensional look-up tables that isolate the conversion error by correlating the scanned test device-dependent values to the device-independent color space values. These methods and systems then derive a final matrix specific to the scanner by first applying the scanned test device-dependent values to the final one-dimensional look-up tables before creating the final matrix.

Abstract: After processing a medium B with a processing unit based on control data received from a host computer 92 and stopping conveyance of the medium B, the media processing device control unit 100 of a printer 1 prohibits processing the medium B by the processing unit, waits until displacement of the medium B is detected by a media orientation detection means 65, and reports starting to wait to the host computer 92. When displacement of the medium B is detected by the media orientation detection means 65 while waiting, the media processing device control unit 100 cuts the medium B with the automatic paper cutter 60, and then cancels prohibition of processing medium B by the processing unit.

  • Patent number: 9025197
Abstract: An optical scanning device which forms a plurality of scanning lines in parallel in a main scanning direction on a photosensitive member by a plurality of laser beams detects the curvature values in the sub-scanning direction of the scanning lines, and corrects a curvature value in the sub-scanning direction corresponding to each of the scanning lines. When detecting the curvature value, the optical scanning device detects the curvature values in the sub-scanning direction of two scanning lines, and calculates the curvature value in the sub-scanning direction of a scanning line between the two scanning lines based on the detected curvature values in the sub-scanning direction of the two scanning lines. With this arrangement, the curvatures in the sub-scanning direction of scanning lines are corrected effectively with high accuracy for all laser beams in a multi-beam optical scanning device using a VCSEL or the like.

  • Patent number: 9019567
Abstract: A printer with integral scanner obtains a digital signature from an article as it is printed. The integral scanner has a coherent source which directs a light beam to illuminate the article and a detector arrangement to collect data points from light scattered from many different parts of the article to collect a large number of independent data points. The digital signature derived from the data points is stored in a database with an image of what was printed on the article. The authenticity of an article purported to be the originally printed article can be verified by scanning the purported genuine article to obtain its digital signature. The database is then searched, to establish whether there is a match. If a match is found, the image is displayed with the matched digital signature to allow a further visual check that the article is genuine.
