  • Patent number: 7362586
Abstract: Shielding cases each include a pair of opposed first surfaces with catching pieces protruding therefrom and a pair of second surfaces without catching pieces. A motherboard forms substrates each including a pair of opposed first side surfaces with catching grooves and a pair of second side surfaces without catching grooves when it is divided. The shielding cases are mounted on the motherboard such that the intervals A between the second surfaces of two adjacent shielding cases are equal to or less than the widths B of cutting allowances for cutting the motherboard. The motherboard is cut from the opposite side of a surface of the motherboard on which the shielding cases are mounted at predetermined positions where the second side surfaces are formed on each substrate. In this manner, the motherboard is divided into electronic components with shielding cases.

  • Patent number: 7355848
Abstract: A system and method removes heat from an enclosure or housing of a subscriber optical interface. When a subscriber optical interface housing is attached to a structure such that a partially enclosed volume of space remains between the structure and the subscriber optical interface housing, this partially enclosed volume of space can produce a chimney effect when heat from the subscriber optical interface housing is intended to flow from fins towards the structure. This chimney effect can refer to a fluid such as air within the partially enclosed space that is heated by the fins and that rises upward when the ambient or surrounding fluid is cooler relative to the heated fluid. According to another exemplary embodiment, the subscriber optical interface can be shaped to form an internal chimney structure that is entirely surrounded by a housing of the subscriber optical interface.

  • Patent number: 7116553
Abstract: The invention provides an expandable modular enclosure system for enclosing circuit boards connected by a stackable bus. The enclosure system includes one or more carriers and spacers, a base unit, and a top unit. The spacers and carriers are alternately stacked between the base unit and top unit, and each circuit board is mounted to a carrier. A side portion with recessed vents extends from one side of each carrier, and each carrier and spacer define an opening. Air flows through the vents, over each circuit board, and through the openings in the carrier to cool the circuit boards. Circuit boards with varying functionality can be included in the enclosure, and as many circuit boards as are necessary can be enclosed without increasing the size of the footprint of the enclosure.

Abstract: A distributed data transmitter (DTXR) which is an adaptive data communication microwave transmitter having a distributable architecture of modular components, and which incorporates both digital and microwave technology to provide substantial improvements in physical and operational flexibility. The DTXR has application in, for example, remote data acquisition involving the transmission of telemetry data across a wireless link, wherein the DTXR is integrated into and utilizes available space within a system (e.g., a flight vehicle). In a preferred embodiment, the DTXR broadly comprises a plurality of input interfaces; a data modulator; a power amplifier; and a power converter, all of which are modularly separate and distinct so as to be substantially independently physically distributable and positionable throughout the system wherever sufficient space is available.

  • Patent number: 7085137
Abstract: An apparatus for providing multi-directional signaling interface connection of a printed circuit card within a computer chassis. In one embodiment, a blind swap cartridge carries a circuit card that includes a first signaling interface connector in the form of a PCI edge connector. The edge connector is movable via a pivot point on the cartridge in a substantially transverse direction with respect to an insertion direction of said blind swap cartridge. In accordance with the present invention, a second signaling interface connector, such as a SCSI connector, is rigidly affixed to the exterior of the blind swap cartridge. The second signaling interface connector is preferably disposed on the cartridge in an orientation such that its connection direction is substantially aligned with the blind swap cartridge insertion direction. A flexible interconnect member is preferably utilized to couple the second signaling interface connector to the circuit card.

  • Patent number: 7068517
Abstract: A connecting device with a low height comprises a connector part, and a set of metal terminals. The connector part has a height compatible with the height of an inner space in a standard USB interface slot socket so as to be inserted into the standard USB interface slot socket. The set of metal terminals is arranged on the connector part and composed of a plurality of metal sheets and each metal sheet has an end disposed in the connector part and another end extending outward the connector part. The first end of the respective metal sheet in the set of metal terminals contacts with internal electronic signal of the standard USB interface slot socket and the second end of the respective metal sheet is soldered to a printed circuit board. Furthermore, the low height connecting device can be revised as an electronic connecting device capable of being inserted into the USB slot socket so that both of the connecting devices can be used in a dual interface memory storage apparatus or a memory storage apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7038910

  • Patent number: 7023845
Abstract: The present invention provides a network device that fully utilizes the available space in a standard telco rack through the use of multiple mid-planes. Full utilization of available space allows a high switching capacity network device including both physical layer switch/router subsystems and upper layer switch/router subsystems to be fit in one telco rack. Inter-mid-plane connections may be provided by connecting switch fabric cards and/or control processor cards to each of the mid-planes. Providing a multi-layer network device in one telco rack allows for intelligent layer 1 switching (for example, dynamic network connection set up), allows for one network management system to control both layer 1 and upper layer networks and eliminates grooming fees.
