Rotatable Stirrer Patents (Class 366/279)
  • Patent number: 4792236
Abstract: A paint tinter system includes a plurality of canisters disposed in a circle about a rotatable plate. An orbiting plate, driven by a single motor, is connected to drive arms, each of which is connected to a crank arm of a stirrer in one of the canisters. The connection is made through a lost-motion device in a cap covering each canister. The cap captures the end of the drive arm, whereby the cap may be removed and hinged out of the way for providing access to the canister. An impeller is freely mounted for rotation in a socket in the bottom of the canister. The upper end of the impeller is driven by engagement between a pair of driver bosses rotated by the crank and edges of a top plate on the canister. Thus, when the cover is removed, the impeller may remain unmoved or be lifted from the socket for cleaning.

  • Patent number: 4522505
Abstract: A novel rotor is provided for attachment to the lower end portion of the motor-driven shaft of a liquid-mixing device, such as a liquifier or mixer commonly used in the preparation of milkshakes, malts and like ice cream mixes. The rotor features a one-piece element in the form of a V having a flat bottom and a pair of upwardly and outwardly divergent arms providing mixing blades related in diametrically opposed fashion. A disk having a central opening receives the shaft and is disposed in radial plane spaced axially above the flat bottom and its periphery is affixed to the terminal upper ends of the blade arms. The disk has an annular flange which presents a smooth circular surface that prevents the blades from damaging the mix container during operation of the mixer as well as during removal of the container while the shaft and rotor are still rotating.

  • Patent number: 4519714
Abstract: An apparatus for agitating a fluid that contains a sludge-like material which is stored in an enclosure, such as a pit, storage tank or pond, includes an elongated frame with a motor and a propeller pivotally mounted within a guard at a lower end of the frame, a linkage assembly attached at one end to the motor and the propeller, and a handle pivotally mounted at an upper end of the frame and connected to the other end of the linkage assembly. The motor and propeller are pivotally mounted so that the propeller is pivotable in a generally vertical direction between a first position, generally along the axis of the frame, and a second upward position, angularly displaced from the first position, for directing the agitation caused by the propeller. In addition, the motor and propeller are mounted within the guard so that the propeller is prevented from hitting the floor of the enclosure when the apparatus is rotated about its longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 4500210
Abstract: A mixing apparatus having a bowl lift arrangement which includes a yoke which is attachable to the mixing bowl and which includes only one guide rod for supporting the yoke, the guide rod being located in the forward portion of a support column which supports the drive motor housing above the base of the mixing unit, and the guide rod being centered to extend vertically along and an axis co-planar with the axis of the bowl. The bowl lift arrangement further includes a screw shaft extending parallel to and behind the guide rod and which has one end received in a threaded aperture provided in the rearward end of the base portion of the yoke, the other end of the screw shaft being linked to a handle, turning of which causes rotation of the screw shaft, with the yoke riding up or down on the screw shaft as it is rotated, carrying the bowl up or down.

  • Patent number: 4497580
Abstract: Disclosed is a battery-operated utensil for mixing and pouring drinks and the like. It uses a separate motor to drive a shaft carrying mixer blades, and a separate motor to drive a pump. The motors are turned on one at a time, and drive the respective shafts directly, thus eliminating the use of components such as gears, clutches or ratchets. The design allows ingredients to be poured into the mixing vessel through a filling chute, without removing the housing which caps the vessel, as well as for convenient removal of the housing when necessary, as for cleaning. Various other features are provided to make the utensil particularly inexpensive to manufacture and convenient to use.

  • Patent number: 4496244
Abstract: The small volume recirculator includes a mixing chamber for receiving recirculated slurry from an inlet arranged to carry the slurry on its return path from the analyzer. An impeller is provided in a housing which is connected to the mixing chamber by way of an opening such that the housing receives the slurry from the reservoir through the opening and provides passage by way of an output tube to the analyzer. The connection between the housing and the chamber is sufficiently direct so that a vortex is set up in the mixing chamber. This provides the mixing. The impeller is rotatably mounted by shaft means which extends above the level of the slurry to a power drive train in avoidance of any shaft seals in the slurry path.

  • Patent number: 4490049
Abstract: A longitudinally extending housing with end closures forms a closed mixing chamber within the housing. A mixer that has a fluid material inlet at each end thereof with longitudinally spaced, opposed ends forming fluid material outlets and a central peripheral discharge from the mixer between the end outlets is supported on a rotatable shaft that extends through one of the end closures to position the mixer in the mixing chamber. Housing inlet means comprising a pair of conduits communicate fluid to the closed mixing chamber for discharging it thereinto adjacent, but spaced from the end fluid inlets of the mixer, and housing outlet means is aligned with the mixer to receive the central discharge therefrom. The diameter of the mixer is about one-half the diameter of the closed mixing chamber, and the length of the mixer is about one-third the longitudinal extent of the closed mixing chamber. The mixer is positioned substantially equidistant from the sides and ends of the mixing chamber.
