  • Patent number: 11146974
Abstract: Systems and methods for computing a standardized composite gain metric value for each solution that has been previously deployed to fix degradation issues at cell sites or other wireless nodes is disclosed. The method selects a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), each of which is highly correlated to customer experience. For example, the method selects the following KPIs: traffic, numbers of users, Physical Resource Block (PRB) utilization, Channel Quality Indicator (CQI), throughput, and so on. The method then assigns a weight to each KPI, such that the weight reflects each KPI's relative importance and ensures that the KPIs are not double counted. For each solution deployed at a cell site, the method computes values of the following composite gain metrics: weighted gain and offload index. The method then can rank the solutions based on the computed composite gain metric values so that an optimum solution can be selected.

Abstract: In examples of the present invention, delivery of a segment of content is done using an initial congestion window, preferably chosen to give a delivery rate that ensures timely delivery of that segment. However, under high levels of packet loss, the delivery rate may not be sufficient. Hence, at any stage during delivery of a segment, the actual delivery rate is measured, and used, together with the previous congestion window size, the amount of content segment data still to be delivered, and the time left for delivery, to calculate an updated congestion window. The remainder of the segment is then delivered using this revised congestion window.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to enable and manage the use of origin-facing points of presence (“POPs”) within a content delivery network (“CDN”). Origin-facing POPs can provide a second-tier caching mechanisms in a CDN, such that cache misses occurring at first-tier POPs may be processed by using information maintained at the origin-facing POPs, rather than requiring interaction with an origin server. Associations between origin-facing POPs and origin servers may be automatically created based on a distance between the respective origin-facing POPs and origin servers, such that an operator of the origin server is not required to specify a location of an origin facing POP. First-tier POPs may selectively retrieve content from origin-facing POPs in instances where the origin-facing POP is expected to provide the content more rapidly than the origin server.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for performing a time-triggered distribution of messages from a region of networked machines to multiple destinations. In an embodiment, the system runs a software-based synchronization process to synchronize each of a plurality of gateways with a reference clock, wherein each gateway is a machine on a perimeter of the region of networked machines and is connected to transmit messages to multiple destinations. The gateways receive messages from within the region of networked machines for distribution to multiple destinations outside the region of networked machines according to a distribution schedule based on absolute time relative to the reference clock. The gateways perform the distribution of received messages, wherein each gateway determines absolute time based on that gateway's synchronization with the reference clock.

Abstract: A security measure invalidation prevention device includes an acquisition unit that acquires invalidated security point information about an invalidated security point among security points each having a measure function performing a security measure on a node connected to a network. The invalidated security point has a measure function to be invalidated. The device also includes a determination unit that determines whether a security event to be addressed with the measure function of the invalidated security point is present on the basis of the invalidated security point information acquired by the acquisition unit. The device further includes an extraction unit that extracts a security point to which the measure function of the invalidated security point can be shifted when the determination unit determines that the security event is present.

Abstract: Examples relate to throttling data access using a data porch. In some examples, an analysis engine is used to access memory and prepare a data response for a data request that is obtained from the data porch via a throttled data buffer. The data response is sent to the data porch via the throttled data buffer, where the throttled data buffer has a throttled data bandwidth that limits a data flow of data requests and data responses between the analysis engine and the data porch. In response to receiving the data response from the analysis engine via the throttled data buffer, the data porch is used to provide the data response to a networked device.

  • Patent number: 11044090
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a system that processes requests to access data item at an edge device in a network. During operation, the system receives the request to access the data item from a user, wherein the request is received at the edge device, and wherein the edge device communicates with an origin server, which stores data items. If the request includes a token identifier, the system uses the token identifier to look up a token payload in a token cache at the edge device. The system then decorates the request with fields from the token payload, and analyzes the decorated request to determine whether the user is authorized to access the data item. If the user is authorized to access the data item, the system looks up the data item in a content cache at the edge device, and returns the data item to the user to complete the request.

Abstract: Technologies for distributing network packet workload are disclosed. A compute device may receive a network packet and determine network packet extrinsic entropy information that is based on information that is not part of the contents of the network packet, such as an arrival time of the network packet. The compute device may use the extrinsic entropy information to assign the network packet to one of several packet processing queues. Since the assignment of network packets to the packet processing queues depend at least in part on extrinsic entropy information, similar or even identical packets will not necessarily be assigned to the same packet processing queue.

Abstract: A technique for replicating a data object from a source data storage system (source) to a destination data storage system (destination) preserves QoS (Quality of Service) by transmitting QoS information from the source to the destination and applying the QoS information when storing data at the destination that arrive in replication instructions sent from the source. The QoS information indicates desired storage tiering for the data object at the source. In the event of a failure at the source, which results in failover from the source to the destination, the destination is able to provide users with the same quality of service as was desired at the source.

Abstract: Embodiments include an overlay multicast network. The overlay multicast network may provide a set of features to ensure reliable and timely arrival of multicast data. The embodiments include a congestion control system that may prioritize designated layers of data within a data stream over other layers of the same data stream. Each data stream transmitted over the network may be given an equal share of the bandwidth. Addressing in routing tables maintained by routers may utilize summarized addressing based on the difference in location of the router and destination address. Summarization levels may be adjusted to minimize travel distances for packets in the network. Data from high priority data stream layers may also be retransmitted upon request from a destination machine to ensure reliable delivery of data.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe a fallback silencing mechanism for wireless communications. A wireless device that operates primarily on unlicensed frequency bands, such as a factory automation device, may occasionally have a need to make Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communication (URLLC) transmissions. If the unlicensed band becomes unsuitable for URLLC transmissions, the wireless device may fallback to licensed band transmissions. A silencing signal may be sent on downlink resources to silence uplink Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) transmissions for one or more mini-slots. The wireless device may then send a URLLC transmission on the one or more min-slots.

Abstract: A wireless access point (WAP) supports one or more physical layer (PHY) operational parameters which can be restricted from use to lessen congestion within a wireless network (WN). The WAP periodically transmits a management frame to enable one or more communication devices to establish and/or maintain communication with the WAP. The wireless network can restrict one or more of the one or more PHY operational parameters, such as PHY data rates to provide an example, that are supported by the WAP from being utilized for communicating the management frame. This restriction of the one or more PHY operational parameters allows the WAP to periodically transmit the management frame at an increased PHY data rate thereby decreasing time needed for communicating the management frame which can lessen the congestion within the WN.
