  • Patent number: 10638498
Abstract: Frequency selective almost blank subframes (ABS) are scheduled in a heterogeneous network in which a protected portion of an available frequency band is allocated to protected subframes transmitted in by a small cell during a first time period and an unprotected portion of the frequency band is allocated to non-protected subframes transmitted during the first time period by the macro cell. The macro cell in the heterogeneous network utilizes the unprotected portion of the frequency band to transmit data to served user equipment (UEs) during ABS while the small cell uses the protected portion of the frequency band to transmit data to served UEs during ABS. That can improve service to low latency applications both for UEs served by the macro cell and for UEs being served by the small cell(s).

Abstract: A centralized node collects and stores radio access network (RAN) user plane congestion information (RCI) that is reported from the RAN to a core network. The centralized node provides a congestion information collection function (CICF) and includes one or more interface to communicate with a mobility management entity (MME) and/or a serving general packet radio service (GPRS) support node (SGSN). The MME and/or SGSN allows the centralized node to determine user equipments (UEs) and associated access point name (APNs) impacted by RAN congestion. The centralized node reports the RCI to a policy and charging rules function (PCRF) associated with the APNs for congestion mitigation.

Abstract: Techniques disclosed herein provide an approach for diagnosing problems in a network connection established between applications running on two endpoints. In one embodiment, upon identification of a potential issue in the network connection, a connection detector is triggered in one of the endpoints and requests a kernel of that endpoint to transmit an on-demand, non-invasive packet to the other endpoint. The connection detector then determines whether the application running on the other endpoint is available via the connection based on whether an acknowledgment packet is received from the other endpoint after the transmission of the non-invasive packet.

  • Patent number: 10530694
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a forwarding element that has a data-plane circuit (data plane) that can be configured to implement one or more load balancers. The data plane has several stages of configurable data processing circuits, which are typically configured to process data tuples associated with data messages received by the forwarding element in order to forward the data messages within a network. However, in some embodiments, the configurable data processing circuits of the data plane can also be configured to implement a load balancer in the data plane that forwards message flows to different nodes of a node group. This load balancer includes a set of one or more storages to store several address mapping sets with each address mapping set corresponding to a different set of nodes in the node group.

  • Patent number: 10524234
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an uplink data packet transmission method. The method includes: determining, by a terminal device, a CP length of a first uplink data frame; if the terminal device is in a state of out of uplink synchronization with a base station and in an RRC connected state, or is in an RRC idle state, generating the first uplink data frame for an uplink data packet according to the CP length and sending the first uplink data frame to the base station. The CP length is greater than a CP length of an uplink data frame sent by a terminal device that is in a state of uplink synchronization and in an RRC connected state. Therefore, signaling procedures such as random access and uplink synchronization can be omitted, so that the terminal device can directly send the uplink data packet by performing signaling exchange once.

  • Patent number: 10511522
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method carried out by a first communications device for determining performance of a plurality of connections and selecting at least one first connection from the plurality of connections substantially based on performance. Data packets are then transmitted through the at least one first connection. The plurality of connections are aggregated to form an aggregated connection. The determining of performance is performed by transmitting evaluation packets through the plurality of connections. The evaluation packets are based on data packets that are received by the first communication device but have not yet been transmitted through the aggregated connection. The data packets may be designated for a host or node reachable through the aggregated connection. Alternatively, the evaluation packets may be based on predefined information when there are no data packets to be transmitted through the aggregated connection. The performance may be determined periodically.

  • Patent number: 10511421
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station and user equipment (UE) may use subframe configurations that include dynamically scheduled channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) symbols. For example, a base station may identify a subframe configuration that includes one or more sets of CSI-RS symbols of a subframe. The base station may indicate to a UE whether sets of CSI-RS symbols may be enabled or disabled during the subframe. The UE may receive multiple CSI-RSs at different locations within the subframe as indicated by the base station, and transmit CSI feedback to the base station based on at least one of the received CSI-RSs. In some examples, multiple base stations may coordinate the use of subframe configurations that include CSI-RS symbols that may be enabled or disabled.

  • Patent number: 10506646
Abstract: Embodiments produce a set of instructions for connecting to a network through a network access point based on data crowdsourced from mobile computing devices. The crowdsourced data describes interactions between the mobile computing devices and the network access point when establishing a connection to the network. A cloud service analyzes the crowdsourced data to identify a set of instructions for association with the network access point. The mobile computing devices replay the set of instructions when subsequently attempting to connect to the network access point.

  • Patent number: 10499260
Abstract: Methods and apparatus in a wireless network that allow devices, such as client devices and access points (APs), having software defined radios (SDRs) to change operating behavior depending on network RF environment conditions are disclosed. The devices may be instructed to operate according to differently defined behavior profiles that may be chosen based on RF environment conditions. The profiles may be stored in a database. A particular profile may be obtained from the database for one or more devices based on an interference level within an RF environment of the devices. The profiles may be implemented to change device operating behavior so that interference is reduced or minimized in higher levels of interference. The profiles may also be implemented to change device behavior so that interference is reduced in lower levels of interference while also freeing up resources for more efficient use in network during lower levels of interference.
