Abstract: A computer-implemented method to detect scam on a communications device is described. An incoming communication is detected at the communications device. A determination is made as to whether a requested response message is detected. The requested response message is analyzed to determine whether the message is suspicious. A response message to the incoming communication is detected. The response message is blocked based on a determination that the requested response message is suspicious.

Abstract: A mobile communication terminal call history displays call distinguishing icons representing the types of calls performed with counterparts. The call types include sent and received voice calls, video calls, and messages. If a user selects one call distinguishing icon displayed on a mobile communication terminal's display unit, a voice call or a video call is sent to the counterpart or a screen on which a message can be written to the counterpart is displayed, according to the call type of the selected call distinguishing icon. The user can directly select a counterpart and the call type to be sent to the counterpart by selecting one of the call distinguishing icons displayed on the display unit. A desired call distinguishing icon can be selected by entering a command on a touch screen, a keypad, or by voice command.

Abstract: A method and system for presenting interactive information about a party in a telecommunication call are provided. The party may be a calling party or a called party. Providing interactive information may include identifying a party in a telecommunication call and receiving interactive information about the party. The received interactive information may be combined with user data to form combined interactive information. The combined interactive information may be displayed to a user. A user-action relating to the displayed combined interactive information may be received and an operation corresponding to the user-action may be performed. Providing interactive information may include determining if the user data is needed by analyzing the interactive information. The interactive information may include events, and the user data may include the user's schedule. The combining may correlate the events with the schedule and creates a set of user-actions based on the correlation.

Abstract: Information associated with messages and/or missed calls is provided to a subscriber. Calls received but not answered by the subscriber may be monitored. Each monitored call is classified as one of a missed call and a message. The monitored calls may be summarized based on a customizable rule set to create a summary. The summary is provided to the subscriber via, for example, a voice notification.

Abstract: An incoming call is detected from a calling entity. If the incoming call is associated with a subscription to presence information media data associated with the subscription can be output through an output unit in the telephone terminal. Abstract: A system granting access to application data and methods thereof are provided in the present disclosure. Application data can be sent that can be utilized by applications resident within a telephony switching system or end devices involved in a call. When the calling party dials the called party, the switching system can be triggered to substitute a database key into the calling party number. The switching system can use the act of making the call to enable permission for the called party to access the data referenced by the database key. The telephony switching system, having provided the key, is capable of mapping the key back into the original calling party number. This allows the calling party number, through the database key, to be stored as a contact or dialed from a call log, which can provide backwards compatibility to devices that do not support this feature.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for enabling a media terminal adapter (MTA) for locally ringing back coupled telephones having a caller identification display. Management information base (MIB) objects are defined to enable a caller identification information function along with caller identification name and number in order to verify the caller identification information is working properly. A technician or user dials a predetermined digit string from a coupled telephone, and the MTA responds with the defined caller identification information.

Abstract: A computer readable storage medium storing computer readable program code, the code configured to provide caller identification information to a called party when standard Caller ID cannot be provided. If standard caller ID information cannot be provided for a call, the call is interrupted by the present service and the calling party is prompted for audible caller identification information. In one embodiment, when the audible caller identification is provided, the call is presented to the called party with a distinctive ring at the called telephone station. Abstract: A method for conducting a teleconference between participants over a teleconference system is disclosed. The teleconference system can include a server in communication with a plurality of client terminals. A first utterance may include a plurality of words, including an identifier of one of the plurality of participants and at least one additional word, may be received. The server can recognize the plurality of words and parse the identifier from the at least one additional word. The identifier may be associated to a voiceprint of the one of the plurality of participants. A second utterance can be obtained and compared to the voiceprint in order to determine that the identifier is associated with the second utterance. The identifier can be provided from the server to at least one client terminal in response to determining that the identifier is associated with the second utterance.

Abstract: A communications service (and components thereof) have one or more communication addresses (e.g. short codes, telephone numbers, IM names/domains, IP addresses, etc.) for receiving text-based messages, a service platform for carry out a number of communication services, and a database of registered subscribers. Subscribers access the database preferably through a web-enabled interface. A subscriber associates a selected communications service with a unique alphanumeric code and conveys the alphanumeric code to other individuals as desired. The individual enters the alphanumeric code as part of a text-based message communicated to the communications address of the service. The service includes logic that receives the text-based messages over the diverse messaging formats and processes the text embedded in each message to extract the alphanumeric code therein.

Abstract: A system and method for providing enhanced information to a mobile communication device regarding a calling device is described. The system and method includes receiving an incoming call request at a mobile communication device including the identifier of the calling device. An information request is then formulated including the identifier of the calling device. The information request is transmitted from the mobile communication device to the query processing center via a data communication channel. A response is then obtained from the data processing center and transmitted to the mobile phone via the data communication channel. The response received from the data processing center includes the requested information related to the calling device.

Abstract: A communication session between a user of a communication network and a communication system is controlled. The communication network comprises a first network and a second network. The communication system operates on the first network. A session request packet is transmitted from a device of the user to a first node in the first network. The session is initiated with the communication system at the first node responsive to receiving the session request. During the session, a calling identity is provided from the first node to the device and used by the device during a communication event between the user and an entity. The calling identity is used to establish a connection between the device and a second node in the second network. The calling identity is associated with an address of the entity. Upon termination of the session, the calling identity is disassociated from the address of the entity.

Abstract: In one aspect of the invention, a computer-implemented method is disclosed for use in conjunction with a portable electronic device with a touch screen display. A list of items comprising missed telephone calls is displayed. Upon detecting user selection of an item in the list, contact information is displayed for a respective caller corresponding to the user selected item. The displayed contact information includes a plurality of contact objects that include a first contact object, comprising a telephone number object having a first telephone number associated with the missed telephone call, and a second contact object. Upon detecting user selection of the second contact object, a communication with the respective caller is initiated via a modality corresponding to the second contact object.

Abstract: A method and system for providing computer-network related information about a second party. First, the second party receives a telephone number of a first party. The second party's customer premises equipment (CPE) or elements in a telephone network then use the telephone number to index a database, which contains combinations of telephone numbers and computer-network addresses. Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for enabling communication between a first party and a second party. The method and apparatus determine that the second party is calling the first party while the first party is leaving a message on the voicemail of the second party. Abstract: Caller ID information directed to a user's mobile phone is delivered to the user's home television set for viewing. A determination is made as to whether the mobile phone is within a home zone associated with the user. The determining is performed at a network element within a mobile communications network that provides carrier service to the mobile phone. A presence indication is stored in a database indicating whether the mobile phone is within the home zone associated with the user. When the mobile phone is within the home zone, and based on a user authorization to provide to a video provider information associated with calls, then, for a call to the mobile phone, sending a calling phone identification and a mobile phone destination number to the video provider for insertion of the calling phone identification into a video stream for delivery to the video display device.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed invention include a system and a method for displaying cellular caller ID on TV. In accordance with one embodiment, the caller ID information of a caller calling a cellular device of a subscriber is received at a mobile switching station. The caller ID information is routed to a cable head end. Abstract: A method, a system and a computer program product for determining one or more characteristics of a caller, utilizing the biometric characteristics of the caller. One or more biometric characteristics are detected when a request to place an outgoing call to one or more destinations is received at a first telecommunication device. When the request to place an outgoing call is a verbal request, one or more biometric voice samples are obtained. The biometric voice samples comprise the biometric characteristics of the caller. The biometric characteristics are extracted from the biometric voice samples, encoded into a datagram, and transmitted from the first telecommunication device to the outgoing call destination (i.e. a second telecommunication device). When the biometric characteristics are analyzed at the second telecommunication device, a display is generated depicting the mood, gender, age, urgency or other characteristics of the caller associated with the incoming call.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include a caller identification system and method for identifying a caller with a partial phone number look-up table. The caller identification system comprises a database that stores received calls and can be personalized to include information specific to partial phone numbers. In one embodiment, the caller identification system disclosed can be integrated into a cellular phone. In this embodiment, an incoming call initiates a search in a database to retrieve information about the caller. If a match is found, the identity of the caller is displayed. When an exact match is not found, a search for a partial match is executed with wild card values and information about the partial match is displayed. Information for a partial match can be personalized or pre-programmed into the caller ID system such as the city associated with a particular area code or prefix.

Abstract: System and method for putting control of incoming telephone calls in the hands of subscribers with the aid of computer software and the Internet. In effect, a very efficient multiplexer is provided that does not require a change in the behavior of the called party or the calling party. This system permits the called party to hear a spoken message by the calling party in real time, and the content of the spoken message permits the called party to decide how to handle the call. The system adaptively learns and captures the rules of the called party for handling calls, and learns which callers the called party always wishes to talk to. The system uses special control software on the called party's computer which is connected to the Internet. The system employs a central server in which all of the required intelligence is resident. Audio signals are exchanged via non-data channels provided by the telephone companies and by the Internet.

Abstract: A method for managing a phishing call is provided. The method includes receiving an incoming telecommunication request. The method also includes comparing a unique identification associated with the incoming telecommunication request against a set of contact lists. The method further includes, if the unique identification is not found on the set of contact lists, activating a delay timer to prevent a set of user notification components from being triggered for a delay period. The method yet also includes performing a connection analysis to determine status of the incoming telecommunication request. The method moreover includes, if the incoming telecommunication request is terminated during the delay period, updating a phishing call log with data about the incoming telecommunication request, wherein the updating of the phishing call log occurs without the set of user notification components being triggered, responsive to the incoming telecommunication request, during or subsequent to the updating.

Abstract: A telephone connection is established between a first terminal and a second terminal. The first terminal is presumed to be associated with a subscription in a first home telephone network in which the terminal is identified by a first network identity. Correspondingly, the second terminal is presumed to be associated with a subscription in a second home telephone network in which the second terminal is identified by a second network identity. A host resource routes a call from the first terminal to the second terminal based on a combination of the first network identity and a first common telephone number in the first home telephone network dialed by the first terminal. Abstract: A conference call system provides multidimensional indexing of recorded audio data through connecting the audio stream to adjunct data generated by the conference call participants during the conference call or thereafter and or/by automatic audio analysis of the audio data. The conference call may be initiated by outgoing calls to the conference participants reducing the burden to those participants for remembering and connecting to the conference call.

Abstract: A method for connecting a calling terminal to a called terminal includes establishing a first session to a video server and a call connection request to the called terminal, receiving ringback tone (RBT) video data from the video server using the established first session during a waiting time before a response from the called terminal for the request is received, generating a setup flag to set a connection environment with the called terminal to perform a fast setup between the calling terminal and the called terminal, and transmitting the generated setup flag to the called terminal through a second session established by the called terminal.
