Abstract: Systems, products, and methods are disclosed for facilitating a method of receiving data from a keypad of the mobile communications device. One embodiment of the method includes receiving input by way of a given key of the keypad and then dynamically configuring that given key to be a “5” key. In this way, input received by way of this given key will be received as the Arabic numeral “5” regardless of a prior configuration associated with that key. A final illustrative step includes dynamically mapping numerical values to the eight surrounding keys that surround the newly configured “5” key.

  • Patent number: 8159371
Abstract: A system and method for semi-automated dialing is provided. The system includes a display, and a standard keyboard upon which some keys have both a numeric and alphabetic interpretation. An input is received from the keyboard. A determination is made if the input consists only from the keys that have both numeric and alphabetic interpretation. If this is the case, then a numeric analysis is performed. Otherwise, a word analysis is performed. The numeric analysis includes determining if the input has an alternate interpretation, and if so then displaying them so that the user may select the intended input. Determining alternate interpretations includes comparing the input with a dictionary. The word analysis includes searching for word matches between the received input and words in a dictionary, and then converting the matched words into numbers using telephone convention. Results from the analyses may be dialed.

  • Patent number: 7697678
Abstract: A method and apparatus for unified overlay dialing enables simplified telephone dialing to occur within a standard overlay area and eliminates disruption dealing with area code saturation. Each three-digit area code within an overlay area is associated with a single-digit suffix, with the parent area code obtaining the suffix “0”. Intra-overlay area dialing then proceeds on the basis of a seven digit number plus a one-digit suffix, rather than a full 10 or 1+10-digit number. For dialing to the parent area code from within the overlay area, the suffix may be omitted entirely, and the expiration of a suitable timing delay causes the seven digit number provided to be dialed into the original (parent) area code. This method can be implemented in connection with a telephone company central office switch, a modified custom calling service or be made accessible to individual telephone subscribers using computerized customer premises equipment. It can also be used to simplify dialing in non-overlaid situations.

In the call origination own number setting process, when the own number extracted in the own number extracting process and the call origination own number stored in the call origination own number storing section 14c match, the extracted own number is set to the call origination own number. At Step SA5, the call is originated to the other-party number using the set call origination number.

Abstract: A method for synchronizing the contact information, which is applied in the synchronization between a wireless exchange device and a communication device. Both the wireless exchange devices and the communication devices have a synchronization software, respectively. The synchronization software allows the wireless exchange device and the communication device to be set as a transmitter or a receiver interchangeably, and it also allows a keyword searching, multiple entries, or the entire database of contact information to be sent from the transmitter to the receiver. In addition, the synchronization software also provides a verification process to ensure the contact information is only sent to the authorized device. Therefore, the receiver can obtain the contact information stored in a contact database of the transmitter, thus achieving the aim of updating the contact databases.

Abstract: A power source is turned on by pressing a power source button in a key input part. Then, a telephone number is inputted from the ten keys in the key input part so that the telephone number is stored in a telephone number temporary memory part. After pressing a communication button in the key input part, conversation is held with the counterpart. Then, a finish button is pressed for finishing the communication. When it is finished, a list of telephone directories is displayed on a display device. In the case the input from the ten keys is the number information, the telephone directory for registration is selected from the “telephone directories 1 to 4” with different functions such that if the input is the number “1”, the telephone directory 1” is selected, and if it is the number “2”, the telephone directory 2” is selected. Furthermore, in the case of adding the name information to the telephone number, registration is executed in the selected telephone directory with the name information.

Abstract: An information terminal according to the present invention is provided where a telephone number is directly extracted from a window displayed, and call dialing is performed based upon the extracted telephone number. In the information terminal, a control OS execution circuit 7 extracts character information 111 including a numeral from a window such as a word processor window displayed the display 6 while a word processor OS is functioning, by designating its contained region with the display inversion, or with a frame enclosing the region. It then extracts no more than a numeral from the character information, and displays it in a telephone call dialing window (a first window), with the help of the telephone OS execution circuit 8. It then call-dials, based upon the displayed numeral, to a telephone line L.

Abstract: In a communication terminal equipment and in a method of controlling call incoming, unnecessary noises in a period from the start of an alert sound to carrying out of the next operation can be reduced. When a predetermined operation is effected under the condition that an alert sound is ringing, the alert sound is stopped or the volume of the alert sound is reduced at least over a duration of call incoming. Thus, such a fear that persons in the surroundings may be troubled by the continuous ringing of the alert sound can be remarkably reduced. Further, since the situation that a power supply is cut off forcibly during all origination can be avoided, the fear that a person on the call origination side may be given an unpleasant feeling can be eliminated.
