  • Patent number: 10469486
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for authenticating communication devices and securely transmitting and/or receiving encrypted voice and data information. A biometric scanner, for example a fingerprint scanner, is utilized for authenticating the communication device and for generating the encryption key. The fingerprint scanner can be an area or swipe type of scanner is registered to a particular user and has unique intrinsic characteristics (the scanner pattern) that are permanent over time and can identify the scanner even among scanners of the same manufacturer and model. The unique scanner pattern of the scanner generates a unique encryption key that cannot be reproduced using another fingerprint scanner.

  • Patent number: 10469653
Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatuses, including computer program products, are described for detecting a proximity of a mobile computing device during a user session. The mobile computing device enters a first operational mode during the user session and obtains sensor data from at least one sensor responsive to a property of the location. The mobile computing device forwards to a server computing device, a baseline profile including the sensor data and a time stamp indicating a time the sensor data was obtained. The mobile computing device receives from the server computing device, a differential trigger threshold including a range of permissible values for sensor data obtained from the at least one sensor. The mobile computing device obtains updated sensor data from the at least one sensor. The mobile computing device enters a second operational mode when the updated sensor data is outside of the differential trigger threshold.

  • Patent number: 10467403
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for evaluating the classification performance of different risk engine models. A classification performance of an authentication method is evaluated by obtaining performance data for an authentication method; generating a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve for the obtained performance data; determining a partial area under the curve (pAUC) for a region of interest of the ROC curve; and providing a performance score for the authentication method based on the pAUC. The region of interest comprises, for example, a region of false positives. The pAUC is optionally standardized using a McClish Transformation. The performance score for the authentication method can be compared to a second performance score for a second authentication method. A confidence level can optionally be provided for the comparison based on a natural test statistic.

  • Patent number: 10445555
Abstract: In an automated method of processing fingerprint images, identity information is extracted from prints typically classified as having “no identification value” because of sparse or missing minutiae by capturing ridge information. Bezier approximations of ridge curvature are used as Ridge Specific Markers. Control points arising from Bezier curves generate unique polygons that represent the actual curve in the fingerprint. These polygons are generated for latent prints and reference prints and compared to determine whether a match exists.

  • Patent number: 10438054
Abstract: In real biometric systems, false match rates and false non-match rates of 0% do not exist. There is always some probability that a purported match is false, and that a genuine match is not identified. The performance of biometric systems is often expressed in part in terms of their false match rate and false non-match rate, with the equal error rate being when the two are equal. There is a tradeoff between the FMR and FNMR in biometric systems which can be adjusted by changing a matching threshold. This matching threshold can be automatically, dynamically and/or user adjusted so that a biometric system of interest can achieve a desired FMR and FNMR.
