Abstract: The present invention is an improved cosmetic applicator which contains a new and novel apparatus to expose and retract a cosmetic stick contained within the applicator apparatus. The apparatus comprises an internal threaded shaft supported on a base which includes rotation means such as a knob, the shaft having a multiplicity of spaced apart threads on its exterior surface. A hollow cylindrical shelf having means at one end to support a cosmetic and a pair of interior oppositely disposed male teeth adjacent its opposite end which interact with the threads enables the shelf to ride up and down on the threaded shaft as the knob is turned to thereby expose and retract the cosmetic supported at the upper end of the cylindrical shelf. A hollow exterior cylindrical casing is supported at one end within the base and surrounds the hollow cylindrical self and the cosmetic supported thereon. The cylindrical casing is covered by an exterior cylindrical casing when the apparatus is not in use.

The torsion spring includes a hoop having one or more inner tabs. The hoop is frictionally engaged with an interior surface of the container. A boss is fixed to the screw and a flexible arm interconnects the hoop and boss. The torsion spring also includes a spoke that is angularly offset from the flexible arm. Application of a rotational force to the screw urges the piston toward the container outlets, causing the flexible arm to yield, allowing the boss to rotate relative to the hoop until the spoke engages an inner tab. Further rotation releases the hoop from frictional engagement with the container. Once the rotational force is removed, the hoop re-engages the container interior surface and the flexible arm regains its original shape, causing the hub and screw to counter-rotate, which simultaneously moves the piston away from the fluid outlets.

Abstract: In the outer sleeve there runs a threaded spindle which is mounted in a bearing sleeve (5) and on which a piston (30) is movable up and down. The outer sleeve (1) is in relation to its inner diameter Ad considerably longer than with known glue sticks. The ratio of the inner diameter Ad of the outer sleeve (1) to the length AL of the part of the outer sleeve which serves for receiving a rod-like adhesive mass (10) here lies in the region of 1:6 to 1:15. This however according to the invention demands that the threaded spindle is configured such that it simultaneously serves as a conveyor worm. Thanks to the special configuration of the piston (30) is spite of the great length of the threaded spindle there is achieved a bending-breakage stabilisation.

Abstract: A push rod 50 is provided in a container body 4 and a cartridge 2 is attached to the container body 4 in such a manner that the cartridge 2 can be attached and detached. Due to rotations of the container body 4 and the cartridge 2, a feeding mechanism causes the push rod 50 in the container body 4 to spirally advance, pushes a core chuck member 20 in the cartridge 2, and causes a stick type cosmetic material retained at the core chuck member 20 to move forward and backward. The core chuck member 20 is always urged in a direction of retreat by a spring 3, and when the cartridge 2 is attached to the container body 4, the push rod 50 is pushed back by repulsion to an inside of the container body 4 so as to prevent the stick type cosmetic material from projecting out of the cartridge 2.

Abstract: A dispenser for volatile material has an enclosure having an opening sealed by a removable first cap member and a stationary barrier at a location opposite the opening; a platform in the enclosure to form a primary cavity between the platform and the opening and an intermediate cavity between the platform and the stationary barrier, the platform being permeable to the volatile material in a molten state for transfer thereof between the primary and intermediate cavities, the platform being movable relative to the stationary barrier to dispense the material through the opening, wherein the platform is operable in a storage position to establish a seal with the stationary barrier to minimize loss of the volatile material.

The marking collet is retained in the marking convoluted body. The marking convoluted body is threaded into one end of the marking retention body. An orbital scratch-off card remover includes a remover retention body, remover convoluted body, and a lock ring. A remover collet retains a remover rod and is formed on one end of the remover convoluted body. The lock ring is slid over the remover collet. The remover convoluted body is threaded into one end of the remover retention body. The other ends of the orbital pencil and scratch-off card may be attached to each other to form a combination device.

Abstract: The cosmetic dispenser is comprised of a barrel that is closed at a lower end by a screw and elevator assembly and on the upper end by an integrally molded top wall. The integrally molded top wall has a weakened area at its periphery and a gripping means such as a loop whereby the top wall can be removed by severing the weakened area. The removed top wall is discarded and the screw turned to raise a portion above the sidewalls. The integrally molded top wall can be integrally molded with the barrel or it can be integrally molded to an adaptor which fits onto the top of the barrel to provide a compound curved top edge for comfort in applying the cosmetic to a skin surface. In this latter embodiment the top wall has a peripheral weakened area whereby the top wall is removed by severing this top wall at the peripheral weakened area. The structure of these embodiments provides a positively sealed and easily opened cosmetic dispenser.

Abstract: A cosmetic container is provided which has a smoothly operating mechanism with low swivel torque, and which avoids unwanted push-back. The container comprises an inner first tubular sleeve, a cosmetic carrier positioned for movement longitudinally within the first tubular sleeve between an extended upper position and a retracted lower position, and a second tubular sleeve surrounding the first sleeve and rotatable with respect to the first sleeve. The second sleeve has a helical channel extending along an inner periphery of the sleeve for extending and retracting the cosmetic carrier upon rotation of the first sleeve within the second sleeve. A cylindrical skirt on a lower end of the second sleeve extends below the helical channel surrounding a portion of the inner first tubular sleeve. One or more protrusions project outwardly from the cylindrical sidewall of the first sleeve.

The pusher returns to an initial position when the declutchable drive is declutched.

Abstract: A multi-composition stick product, such as a lip balm, sun screen, deodorant, or glue stick. The multi-composition stick product including a stick composition molded in the container so as to contact the walls thereof and be advanceable or ejected therefrom. The stick composition includes a first composition and a second composition. The first and second compositions differ in at least one component, such as a medicament, colorant, fragrance, flavorant, sunscreen, preservative, conditioner, moisturizer, emollient, or surfactant. Furthermore the first and second compositions are arranged in a predetermined non-random pattern that is reproducible. Also described is the method and apparatus for manufacturing the multi-composition stick product.
