Abstract: The present invention provides a tire assembly for irrigation systems that prevents the formation of ruts caused by repeated travel along a path by tires of a mobile vehicle or structure. The tire assembly includes dual tires with a flexible belt member wrapped around the outer periphery of the two tires having a plurality of cleat members located on the outer surface of the flexible belt member. The cleat members direct water away from the center of the travel path. The flexible belt member further includes plural center guides to keep the belt in place. The tire assembly reduces soil compaction by providing a greater ground engaging surface area to more evenly distribute the weight of the equipment and by directing water away from the center of the travel path.
Abstract: An arrangement is provided in a drain water system having a main drain conduit which is designed as a closed ring conduit (19), and pump members (17, 18) are arranged to pump drain media emanating from different buildings (6) to and into the ring conduit for transport therein through pumping action. Devices (27-31) for taking care of drain media are connected to the ring conduit through a branch (12, 13) each. Valve members (24, 25, 32) are arranged in each connection to the ring conduit and optionally controllable so as to either open in the case of a feed connection and allow pumping of drain media into the ring conduit and in the case of a device connection allow drainage of drain media from the ring conduit, or close to stop drain media from flowing into or out of the ring conduit.
Abstract: A system is provided for preventing erosion of a bluff or hillside having a face extending between a toe at a bottom thereof and a crest at a top surface thereof, and a failure shear plane. The bluff or hillside is subject to excess water accumulation contributing to land mass degradation. The invention is improved by at least one horizontal wick drain positioned behind the failure shear plane in a water saturated zone substantially parallel to the crest of the bluff or hillside for the purpose of controlling drainage of the excess water accumulation. The horizontal wick drain is installed from the top surface of the bluff or hillside so as not to impair the structural integrity and cause land mass degradation of the face thereof.
Abstract: A debris-catching system for preventing debris from falling into the pipe opening at the bottom of a manhole catch basin. The debris-catcher comprises two semi-circular halves hinged together such that the two halves may be folded and inserted into a manhole opening. The debris-catcher comprises aligned apertures that allow it to be hooked and lowered into a manhole. The two halves are opened up to form a circular blocker which sets on the manhole bottom flat base. The debris-catcher allows normal effluent flow through the manhole while in place. The debris-catcher floats and will do so during an overflow condition. Further, the debris-catcher will resume its protective function after an overflow condition has subsided.
Abstract: An insulated leaching chamber and a method of fabricating the same from a block of expanded polystyrene. The insulated leaching chamber includes a body of rigid air-permeable insulating material, having at least one arch centrally positioned between opposed outwardly projecting terminus. The at least one arch has an convex upper surface, and a concave lower surface. The use of the insulated leaching chamber reduces freezing and promotes increased biological activity.
Abstract: An erosion control basin is a molded open topped receptacle that has support flanges that will support the basin on the interior of a storm drain grate frame. A filter is formed around an upright perforated drain pipe that is on the interior of the basin and which opens to an outlet. The basin catches debris and silt but permits water to drain out. The top of the drainpipe is left open for overflow purposes.
Abstract: A mitred grate and drain cover comprises a peripheral edge having an upper and lower surface and a substantially elliptical shape which defines a space, and a plurality of cross pieces within the space. Depending sidewalls extend from the lower surface of the peripheral edge, and are constructed with respect to the peripheral edge such that they are at an angle other than 90° to the peripheral edge. The sidewalls define a space for receiving a pipe.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for a foundation and soil irrigation system having multiple independent zones that can be controlled to deliver fluid to surrounding soil. The system can be installed above or below ground, but in a preferred embodiment the system is subterranean and is installed 18 to 24 inches off of the foundation and 12 to 18 inches below ground level. Each independent zone comprises a fluid distribution network that forms a center-fed or end-fed section to ensure proper hydraulic flow throughout the zone. The system further utilizes a wicking material network installed below ground to irrigate a soil region.

Abstract: A portable pipe irrigation system that is used primarily for temporary drip and sprinkler installations includes a unique trailer that comprises a platform which simplifies installation and removal of the irrigation system. The trailer is either self propelled or pulled by a tractor. A magazine in the central portion of the trailer is of a sufficient length to accommodate pipe of various lengths and cross sections. A work platform is located at either end of the magazine, allowing workers to manipulate the pipe in the magazine and load the pipe into one of two installation chutes. Catwalks are located on one or both sides of the magazine. Two chutes or channels are located on the platform at a comfortable work level. A primary chute is located closest to the magazine and is fitted with a fixed stop on the front end and a pushing lever on the rear end. A secondary chute is provided for final assembly of the pipe sections.

Abstract: In the method of construction for draining the ground for the ground in which as shown in FIG. 11, the circumference of the surface of ground requiring draining of the ground (1) is dug to form a waterway (3). The central portion is built from the peripheral portion and leveled by a roller rolling to form a foundation bed (2). Rainwater permeated into the ground surface earth (9) covering the upper surface of the foundation bed (2) is gathered and flows into the peripheral waterway (3) from the concave portions (19) of the corrugated plate of plastics (7) to effect draining. The corrugated plate (7) on the surface has a corrugated surface in which a number of convex portions (18) and a number of concave portions (19) are alternately continuous. The corrugated plates (7) have an end shape in which the end is put on the end of other same shaped corrugated plate (7) and can be enlarged.
Abstract: An improved system for draining bunkers on golf courses and other sports playing areas, and for draining landscaped areas. A receptacle is positioned below the surface for receiving drain water and for discharging the water through an outlet. A perforated pipe water collection system can be attached to the receptacle to direct water to the receptacle interior space. A receptacle cover is removable to permit access to the receptacle interior space. The cover is sufficiently strong to support the overlying weight of people and equipment, and can have apertures for permitting water entry while resisting entry of sand and other solids into the interior space of the receptacle.
Abstract: A stormwater receiving assembly for processing stormwater containing suspended particulate matter includes a dispensing chamber and an underlying accumulating accessory. The dispensing chamber is fabricated of thin-walled plastic contoured as a corrugated wall horizontally elongated between inlet and exit ends and having an arched cross-sectional shape with upwardly directed peak and spaced apart parallel lowermost edge extremities defining an open bottom. A circular portal is located in the peak of the chamber. The accumulating accessory has a compartment bounded by sidewall structure elongated upon a vertical axis between upper and lower extremities, and is positioned below the dispensing chamber such that the portal of the dispensing chamber is in centered vertical alignment with the lower extremity of the compartment of the accumulating accessory.

Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a flow of a liquid into a sewer drain comprising a catch basin having a catch basin drain coupled with the sewer drain. In addition, a housing element that is positioned within the catch basin, whereby the housing element is coupled with the catch basin drain in a first fluid-tight manner. The housing element having a porous surface positioned below a predetermined level. A column having a proximal end and a distal end, whereby the column is positioned within the housing element and the proximal end is coupled with the catch basin drain in a second fluid tight manner. The distal end is positioned above the predetermined level and an actuator mechanism is coupled with the column and configured to selectively open and close the column to the flow of the liquid that is entering the catch basin drain.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to, in part, modules that allow for the exchange of a fluid such as a liquid or gas to and/or from a medium or surface and systems and methods comprising same. In one embodiment, there is provided an apparatus for directing the flow of a fluid passing through a medium, the apparatus comprising a top having a plurality of perforations and a base that is positioned adjacent and substantially parallel to the top, thereby defining a cavity for passage of fluid therein. The top comprises a plurality of integrated supports extending from the bottom surface of the top, the integrated supports maintaining the height of the cavity and being sufficient in number, size, and physical properties as to permit the top to support the weight of the medium and activity above the medium. A sealing strip can be installed within the cavities of the modules to contain or direct fluid within the system.
Abstract: A catch basin filtration system, comprising a filter body, dimensioned to fit within a drain inlet forming a trough or reservoir obstructing at least a portion of the inlet. The filter body is supported by a filter body support dimensioned to cooperatively engage with the interior walls of the inlet and with the filter body to substantially maintain the filter body in a pre-selected shape and position within the inlet. One or more connectors removably connect the filter body to the filter body support.
Abstract: The greens maintenance system is specifically directed to lawn areas with lawn grass covering underlying soil, and the soil having a given seepage rate defined by an amount of water allowed to seep into the soil per unit of time. The system includes a water collection device disposed to collect runoff water during and immediately after precipitation exceeding a seepage rate of the soil and to collect runoff water running off from surfaces adjacent the lawn area, such as roofs, driveways, and the like. A storage container communicates with the water collection device and stores the runoff water collected by the water collection device. An active irrigation system communicates with the storage container, for irrigating the lawn area during periods of reduced precipitation. Elongate dividers are strategically placed in the soil underlying the lawn surface for reducing a velocity of the water running across the lawn area.
Abstract: A fertilizer and irrigation apparatus includes an inflow pipe, a shunt pipe connected to the inflow pipe, and a chemical additive assembly connected in parallel to the shunt pipe. An outflow pipe is also connected to the shunt pipe. A portion of the inflow pipe, the shunt pipe, the chemical additive assembly, and the outflow pipe are all above ground. The chemical additive assembly includes a quantity of a chemical additive. A manifold is connected to the outflow pipe. A plurality of in-ground distribution conduits are connected to the manifold, wherein each of the distribution conduits includes at least one above-ground sprinkler head. In addition, an auxiliary inflow assembly can be connected to the inflow pipe so that chemical additives can be supplied to the fertilizer and irrigation apparatus from an outside source.
Abstract: An assembly for forming a trench comprising a frame having two elongated members that define a support surface and at least one opening. The assembly also includes a removable grate that is disposed on the support surface and includes a hook that is disposed proximate the opening defined by the elongated frame members. The assembly also includes a removable pin that is slidably inserted through an opening defined by an elongated member and is mechanically engaged by the hook of the grate to secure the grate to the frame.
Abstract: A pavement drain includes a spring coil strap formed in a continuous spiral fashion and composed of a plurality of linear bodies of synthetic resin that are arranged in parallel. The adjacent linear bodies are joined together at side parts thereof having a height at least one fourth the height of the linear bodies.
Abstract: A drainage system is provided for a synthetic grass turf assembly having a flexible and water permeable sheet backing for installation on a supporting soil substrate to provide a game playing surface. The draining system of the present invention prevents water from accumulating on the turf surface, which could cause the top-dressing layer to “float” and be moved by inundation. The draining system of the present invention includes a spacing grid disposed between the backing of the turf. The spacing grid is structured to permit water not only to be drained vertically through the spacing grid, but also to be drained horizontally through the spacing grid to the edges of the field. The spacing grid is made from one or more types of geotextile or plastics material with an adequate flexibility to improve the impact absorption capabilities and resilience of the synthetic grass turf assembly.
Abstract: A method of producing a drainage grid or network comprising a number of interlocked strips is disclosed which comprises providing a warp direction a plurality of strips having a channel or channels formed longitudinally therein, feeding such strips into a bonding zone wherein a filter material is bonded over the channel or channels, subsequently providing strips of polymeric material transverse to the warp strips and bonding them thereto to form the weft of the network and thereafter collecting the network or grid so produced. The warp and weft may be produced from yarn reinforced polymeric webbing which is heat bonded to give a mesh. It has been found that polyolefin materials, particularly polyethylene, are suitable. Where reinforcing is provided this may be in the form of reinforcing polyester yarns and are preferably inserted in the longitudinal direction in bundles. The filter fabric may also be a thermoplastic material and may be heat bonded, needle punched or woven.

Abstract: A reservoir drainage system drains water away from a soil around a footing foundation of a structure and collects the drained water outside of the same. The system includes a network of drainage tubes externally rounding a perimeter of the footing foundation and connected to a collecting tube. The latter collects the drained water from the network and directs it by gravity into a collecting reservoir member located outside of the structure below a bottom level of the foundation. The drainage network has a first part that is substantially horizontally leveled and longitudinally runs along a first portion of the perimeter and generally against the same. The network also includes a second part that continues the first part, is connected to it at an upper end and longitudinally runs along a complementary second portion of the perimeter. The second part slightly outwardly diverts away and is downwardly inclined from the footing foundation down to a lower end connected to the collecting tube.
Abstract: A deep root watering unit is provided for improved irrigation and aeration of tree roots and the like, particularly with respect to trees planted in non-native or hostile environments such as planters, tree wells in paved areas, clay soils and arid climates. The root watering unit includes a porous sleeve extending downwardly from an upper atrium housing, wherein the watering unit is adapted for in-ground installation adjacent to tree roots or the like. The atrium housing defines a hollow atrium chamber equipped with internal support members for mounting different types of irrigation water dispensing devices, such as a bubbler head or emitter device, for delivering irrigation water downwardly into the porous sleeve and further there through to the adjacent plant roots. A cap grate is removably mounted over the top of the atrium housing to accommodate access to the atrium chamber and the selected water dispensing device mounted therein.
Abstract: A method of preventing the formation of microbiological deposits in the water delivery systems of micro-irrigation systems which have in addition to water delivery systems, a water filtration system, a pump and a water distribution system. This method comprises cleaning the micro-irrigation system to remove existing microbiological deposits thereby providing a clean distribution and delivery system, and then continuously treating the water fed to the delivery system with a few ppm of glutaraldehyde to maintain cleanliness. The invention is particularly effective in controlling microbiological deposits which are either slimes or algae or mixtures thereof.
Abstract: Unitary void-maintaining geocomposites, and drainage systems utilizing those geocomposites, are provided for location below a road surface or below a large structure such as a building, retaining wall or parking lot. In some embodiments, the geocomposites include at least one fluid-transmissible layer, preferably a geotextile, attached adjacent an upper or lower surface, or both surfaces, of a polymer-based core element. In other embodiments, the core element is constructed such that no geotextile layer is needed. Characteristic of the core element is high transmissivity, that is, a high rate of horizontal flow of gases or liquids through the core. Characteristic of the at least one fluid-transmissible layer is high permittivity, that is, a high rate of vertical transmission of liquids and gases through the geotextile layer and into the core element. Also characteristic of fluid-transmissible layers of the invention is high exclusivity with respect to solid materials.

Abstract: A loose fill lightweight plastic aggregate for a preassembled drainage line unit. The bead comprises a central portion, at least three legs extending from each of the top and bottom of said central portion, a plurality of channels each defined by adjacent ones of said legs, the width of said legs being greater than the width of said channels. A rib protrides laterally from each of the sides of the central portion. In the drainage unit, the beads maintain a substantial void space for flow of waste water and also provide maximum surface area for bacterial breakdown of sewage wastes.

Abstract: Systems for leaching liquid waste, particularly waste water. More particularly a cylindrical conduit or pipe for use in leaching systems. The pipe further has axially directed cuts or apertures in conduit/pipe valleys, has ridges, channels and grooves over which may be laid either single or multiple layers of fabric. The corrugated pipe may have slots or slits or V-grooves in and on the various portions of the pipe such as the outer-facing surface of the ridges, the end portion of the ridges, the side wall of the groove or through the bottom portion of the groove, i.e., the valleys. The cylindrical conduit disperses moisture away from the conduit through capillary action, wicking into a surrounding material. A perforated cylindrical conduit is one method permitting wicking. The surrounding material provides capillary action to transmit moisture away from the cylinder or conduit. These surrounding materials include sand, gravel, plastic fibers, wood products, slag, and ash.
Abstract: An irrigation system comprising a closed-loop piping system a portion of which is a condensing section extending on or adjacent below ground surface, and at least another portion of which is a cool-collecting section /buied under ground at a cool ground zone. The closed-loop piping holding a liquid which is propelled by a circulating system fitted along the piping system. The liquid is chilled by heat exchanging at the cool ground zone and then flows to the condensing section where moisture from the vicinity is extracted by condensation over the by condensing section, readily available for consumption by agriculture growth.

Abstract: A vadose zone for a leaching field which enables the construction of a leaching field in terrain where conventional leaching fields cannot be constructed. Such terrain also comprise areas where a high water table exists or where percolation tests fail. The vadose zone is constructed adjacent to the leaching field which is buried in a layer of soil which has been constructed over a nonporous barrier such as a plastic sheet or ledge or clay. The effluent from the leaching field is forced to move sideways out of the leaching field into the adjacent soil. The adjacent soil becomes a vadose zone to complete treating the effluent. The effluent is forced to flow through a prescribed predetermined distance through the vadose zone before it is permitted to disperse through the soil toward the water table or over the clay or ledge.
Abstract: This invention relates to a hydraulic valve (10) and an interconnected hydraulic valve system, (10, 12). Two coaxially disposed pipes (14, 20) are positioned vertically to form an annular space (11) there between. A flange (22) provided with a external seal (23) cooperates with an end of the outer pipe (20). Openings (18) formed in the inner pipe (14) regulates water flow. The inner pipe is also sealingly interconnected with a main supply pipe (12) for entry of water through opening (16). An electrical motorized hoist (26) provides for activation and operation of the hydraulic valve system.

Abstract: A plastic catch basin with grate on top, box shape design to drain a low area by gravity to a final drain area through plastic pipes, the catch basin to be assembled on site according to need by constructing with side plates with a choice of holes according to need and the catch basin is designed to be more solidly constructed to hold its shape over time and use, constructed to be modified by adding additional catch basins with the plastic pipes as need arises.
Abstract: An irrigation system comprising an energized cooling system for cooling the fluid to a temperature below ground temperature, colosed-loop condensation piping buried under ground surface and an energized fluid circulating arrangement for circulating the fluid through the system, whereby propelling the cooled fluid through the piping extracts moisture from the ground by condensation over the piping, for consumption by agriculture growth in the vicinity of the piping.

Abstract: A beaver controlling culvert attachment prevents beavers from disturbing the flow of water through a culvert. An upstream unit includes a vertical pipe having an upper grate, which prevents the entrance of beavers and debris, while allowing the entrance of water during periods of high water levels. A horizontal pipe has an upstream end attached to an upper portion of the vertical pipe and a downstream end attached to an upstream end of the culvert by an attachment plate. A basket insert is carried within the vertical pipe, and is movable between an in-use position, wherein a grate prevents entrance to the bottom of the vertical pipe, and a clean-out position wherein the grill is elevated to allow disposal of accumulated debris through the horizontal pipe and culvert. A downstream grate prevents beavers from entering the downstream end of the culvert, and from filling the culvert with debris.
Abstract: An erosion control basin is a molded open topped receptacle that has support flanges that will support the basin on the interior of a storm drain grate frame. A filter is formed around an upright perforated drain pipe that is on the interior of the basin and which opens to an outlet. The basin catches debris and silt but permits water to drain out. The top of the drainpipe is left open for overflow purposes.
Abstract: A structure for use with low flow stormwater drainage includes a two-piece outer cylindrical housing and a removable inner cylindrical flow cartridge containing a replaceable filter media. The housing consists of a sealed basin with a removable lid. The cartridge is suspended within the housing by an open tubular mechanical support extending downward from the housing lid. The bottom of the cartridge is above the bottom of the housing. The cartridge has a permeable screened bottom and a screened orifice at the top where the open tubular support attaches. An inlet into the housing accepts fluid flow transverse to the vertical axis of the cartridge at a depth location near the cartridge vertical midpoint. In operation, hydrostatic head pressure forces stormwater flow into the housing where primary separation of insoluble contaminants occurs. Contaminants with a density less than water remain inside the housing but outside the cartridge at a depth near the housing lid.
Abstract: A draining wall includes a plurality of panels filled with a granular filtering material and separated from each other by intermediate elements cast in the ground, a member, embedded in the lower part of each intermediate element, enabling communication to be established between the panels of each pair of adjacent panels, and auxiliary devices applied into contact with the end faces of the intermediate elements so as to cover the mouth of the communication-enabling members. Each auxiliary device is open on the side applied against the intermediate element, has a height greater than the diameter of the mouth, delimits a volume around the mouth, and has either perforations over at least a part of its surface whose size is smaller than that of the granules constituting the filtering material or an opening to which a perforated pipe acting as a receiver is connected.
