Publication number: 20020010156Abstract: A composition including a bait and a borate is used to mitigate a population of target insects and/or mollusca. The composition may include attractive by-products of agriculture and manufacturing with or without semiochemicals or biopesticides prepared as point source units (such as pellets or microcapsules). The by-products attract insects and/or mollusca to a food source for the purpose of mitigating the target organism. The bait is combined with borates and is pelletized and/or encapsulated into micron size particles. Patent number: 6312930Abstract: The present invention is a method for the detection of a specific target bacteria in a complex sample mixture. The sample mixture may contain a variety of components including non-target or background microorganisms as well as other organic contaminants such as food debris. The method proceeds by first culturing the complex sample mixture in a non-selective growth medium, followed by isolation and detection of target bacteria DNA. Target DNA is detected via a DNA amplification protocol with a primer pair selected to amplify a specific, identifying portion of the target bacteria DNA. A control DNA is amplified concurrently with the target bacteria target DNA. The control DNA is specifically designed to be amplified with a single primer that is identical to one of the primers used in the amplification of the target genomic DNA. Use of this control validates the amplification reaction. Detection of the amplified target DNA and the control is accomplished by gel electrophoresis or by fluorescent means.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1997Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Assignee: E. Patent number: 6303125Abstract: A non-food anti-microbial-adhesion and aggregation composition comprising a suitable carrier and an effective amount of an adhesion inhibitory fraction isolated from juice from berries of the Vaccinium plant genus. In an embodiment the anti-aggregation and adhesion fraction is isolated from cranberry juice. It is characterized as being polymeric and having a molecular weight ≧14,000; an elemental analysis of carbon 43-51%, hydrogen 4-5%, no nitrogen, no sulfur and no chlorine; a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) line spectrum as set forth in FIGS. 2A and 2B; and an ultraviolet spectrum with an absorption peak at 280 nm in neutral or acidic pH solution which is absent in alkali solutions. This fraction exhibits adhesion inhibitory activity against P fimbriated bacteria, oral bacteria and Helicobacter pylori.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1998Date of Patent: October 16, 2001Assignee: RAMOT-University Authority for Applied Research and Industrial Development Ltd.Inventors: Itzhak Ofek, Ervin Weiss, Yoel Kashman, Janina Goldhar, Nathan Sharon

Patent number: 6290980Abstract: A method and packaging for vaccinating or medicating an animal by implanting a solid dose medicament in an animal. The solid dose medicament, or plurality of such medicaments, are each color-coded to identify a particular active ingredient, then packaged in a pellet magazine through which the doses are visible, and thereafter the pellets are implanted, usually subcutaneously, into the base of the ear or in the neck of an animal. The same system can be used for colored ballistic implants.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2000Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: Solidose, LLCInventor: Richard D. Hansen
