Abstract: Novel method of preserving the internal environmental air temperature and thereby stabilizing the temperature within the cargo compartment of a transport container, and thereby protecting the cargo itself from degradation due to temperature fluxuations, including a freeze and heat barrier attained through the characteristics of the article of manufacture, composition of matter, and method of preservation of the internal environmental air temperature and proximate cargo within said cargo compartment; along with a machine or devise that is used as either a stand-alone container, or as an insert to retrofit existing containers so as to make said retrofitted devices capable of providing cooling over an extended period of time are disclosed. The inserted cargo compartments described herein are particularly useful for temperature-stabilizing cargo compartment shipping containers that are required to maintain a temperature below ambient for a time sufficient to complete delivery of the container and its contents.

Abstract: A stable antimicrobial aqueous hypochlorous acid solution that retains its activity for at least three months and can be provided with high levels of hypochlorous acid (more than 500 ppm), the aqueous hypochlorous acid composition having low chloride concentrations (maximum chloride levels of 1:3 chloride to hydrochlorous acid) and a pH between 3.5 and 7.0 to stabilise the composition without the need for additional stabilisers. A solid composition is also provided for producing the stable solution.

Abstract: A novel process for preparing stable granulate which comprises amoxicillin trihydrate and a sugar, and to novel stable granulate comprising amoxicillin trihydrate and the sugar as well, for reconstitution with water into fine stable homogeneous aqueous suspension is described. The novel process omits preliminary process step for preparing fine particle size of micronized amoxicillin trihydrate used subsequently in the granulation process known in the art, for example grinding or micronizing of said antibiotic. In a preferred aspect of the invention the novel stable granulate comprises amoxicillin trihydrate and the sugar, preferably sucrose, free of any pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. Novel granulate, which is easily dissolved in water to form smooth aqueous suspension immediately, is used for treating bacterial infections in humans or animals, especially in pediatric patients and in the geriatrics.
Abstract: An antimicrobial material, antimicrobial devices and method of reducing or eliminating microorganisms from a fluid susceptible to contain microorganisms is presented. The antimicrobial material is comprised of a porous activated ceramic substrate; a titanium dioxide layer covalently bound to the ceramic substrate; and a silver salt layer covalently bound to the titanium oxide layer. This antimicrobial material is used in the antimicrobial devices and methods to reduce or eliminate microorganisms in fluid.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a triple-action pest control formulation for controlling rodents, insects, and terrestrial mollusks, the formulation including: a first active ingredient which is a rodenticide; a second active ingredient which is both an insecticide and a molluscicide; an optional attractant; and a carrier matrix. The present disclosure also provides a method of controlling rodents, insects, and terrestrial mollusks by applying the triple action pest control formulation to a target area or supplying the formulation in a bait station.

Abstract: The invention is a method for attracting mosquitoes by producing a volatilized acid by combining an acid precursor with water to produce the humidified vapor acid attractant, preferably hydrogen chloride. The humidified volatilized acid can be further combined with carbon dioxide, or carbon dioxide can be simultaneously produced to attract mosquitoes. The acid precursor can be a hydrate of ferric chloride, such as ferric chloride hexahydrate. The acid precursor can be impregnated in a carrier, and can be combined with water through exposure to water vapor in the atmosphere, the intentional addition of water, or water produced by a chemical reaction.

Abstract: A method of preparing antimicrobial-containing polymeric products is provided, the method involving electrospinning a dispersion comprising a dispersible polymer, a fiberizing polymer, and one or more antimicrobial agents. Abstract: Contaminants are filtered from a fluid flow stream and the filter is regenerated by a process including steps of: providing a filter material comprising both carbon and potassium iodide; passing a contaminated fluid stream in contact with the filter material; adsorbing contaminants from the fluid stream onto surfaces in the filter material; passing an electric current through the filter material with adsorbed contaminant thereon; disassociating contaminant from the surfaces of the filter material; and removing disassociated contaminant from the filter material by carrying away the disassociated contaminant in a fluid flow mass. Separately, a stable, active iodine solution is also provided for numerous deodorizing and disinfecting applications.
Abstract: The present invention provides methods of promoting the revascularization and/or reenervation of central nervous system lesions using an in-situ crosslinkable hydrogel. The present invention also provides methods of treating a spinal cord injury by topically delivering to the spinal cord injury site a vehicle comprising a neurotrophic factor and/or anti-inflammatory agent. Abstract: Technologies are described herein for styptic compounds comprising a hemostatic or styptic agent suspended within a hydrophobic carrier medium. Example carrier mediums may include waxes, lipids, oils, or combinations thereof. The compound may be a semisolid at room temperature and soft enough to be easily dispensed and formed into or onto bleeding tissue of an animal or human. The hydrophobic qualities of the carrier medium can protect the styptic agent from absorbing moisture. The carrier medium can mechanically support positioning treatments adjacent to the bleeding tissue. The carrier medium can further serve to mechanically seal the tissue to aid in hemostasis while also protecting the tissue from debris and contamination. The carrier medium can aid in maintaining moisture within the tissue. Slurry-based manufacturing processes can support a substantially homogeneous dispersal of styptic agent throughout the carrier medium.
Abstract: Methods for preparing silver colloids and silica-coated silver colloids are disclosed. The silver colloids may be prepared by heating a silver-containing solution, combining the heated silver-containing solution with an acid solution, and cooling the combined solutions to form a silver colloid containing silver particles. The silver particles in the silver colloid can further be coated with silica. A method for preparing antimicrobial coatings is also disclosed.

Abstract: An improved beverage can includes a GRAS antimicrobial wipe contained in a low profile pouch that is adhered to the side of the can. The low profile pouch is constructed of a substantially planar substrate that retains the wipe directly to the exterior surface of the can. The pouch includes a perforated tab that is removed to access the wipe. To use, the perforated tab is ripped off, the user reaches into the pouch and pulls out the antimicrobial wipe, and wipes the can as desired, typically focusing on the drinking region of the can.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to polymer devices impregnated with semichemical attractants for termites. The materials for delivering the semiochemicals are preferably cellulose-free. Devices of the subject invention are placed in soil and provide a slow-release and permeation of the semiochemicals into the adjacent soil so that termites tunneling in the vicinity are directed toward the chemical sources. Because the semiochemicals are impregnated in the polymer, the device also protects the semiochemicals so that they do not degrade rapidly under field conditions. In a preferred embodiment, the subject invention comprises a durable station housing, preferably with a removable bait, wherein the body of the station housing itself is impregnated with a semiochemical attractant.

A method for producing antitoxic fibers and fibrous media includes impregnating a fibrous media by dipping in a dipping solution containing a concentrate of an antitoxin to form a fiber with impregnated material including an antitoxin. The impregnated material is at least about 1.0% to about 2.5% by weight of the fibers and includes additive chemical components including at least one of an anionic, cationic or nonionic component, an oil and/or an organic solvent, and an alcohol. The additives include those found in a spin finish. The antitoxin is in an amount of at least 0.1% by weight of the fiber. The manufacturing process can be applied to any woven or nonwoven media.
