  • Patent number: 9184064
Abstract: A method for backside metallization and reinforcement of glass substrates to provide support and protection during handling and processing of the glass substrates. Through-holes are created in a glass substrate and filled with a conductive type material. Backside metallized pads are applied to the glass substrate and enclosed with an under-bump metallization (UBM) pad. A sacrificial substrate is removeably attached to the glass substrate. The sacrificial substrate comprises a sacrificial layer, an opaque film, and an adhesive. The sacrificial substrate protects the backside metallized pads and under-bump metallization (UBM) pads, and reinforces the glass substrate.

  • Patent number: 9174409
Abstract: A media substrate for imaging includes a front and back surface defining a thickness. The front receives imaging fluid and absorbs it. The back has scoring lines extending into the thickness that limit curling of the media substrate as the absorbed fluid dries on the front. Patterns and locations of scoring lines as well as their depth into the thickness are noted. Imaging and scoring stations in an imaging device are still other embodiments as are cutting features for scoring.

  • Patent number: 9155669
Abstract: An assembly having a substrate bearing an adhesive layer having an extension in a machine direction and an extension in a cross-direction and a number of discrete portions of a backing, each discrete portion having a first major surface bearing a plurality of male fastening elements and a second major surface opposite to said first major surface. Each discrete portion is attached to the adhesive layer through the second major surface. A sum of a maximum density of the discrete portions of the backing along the extension of the adhesive layer in the cross-direction and a maximum density of the discrete portions of the backing along the extension of the adhesive layer in the machine direction is at least 0.8 cm?1. The assembly can releasably adhere to a fibrous material having a plurality of female fastening elements through a combination of a mechanical and an adhesive bonding mechanism. Methods of making the assembly and disposable absorbent articles containing the assembly are also described.
