Abstract: A method of additive manufacturing of a three-dimensional object is disclosed. The method comprises sequentially forming a plurality of layers in a configured pattern corresponding to the shape of the object. Each layer is formed by dispensing at least one modeling material to form an uncured layer, and curing the uncured layer by radiation. In various exemplary embodiments of the invention the method comprises, for at least one layer, forming a stack of sacrificial radiation-protective layers to cover an exposed portion of the layer, such that an upper layer of the stack remains exposed during formation of any subsequent layer of the plurality of layers.
Abstract: A motor vehicle fuel pump cover is provided for covering a fuel guide region of a motor vehicle fuel pump by way of a cover housing. A phase change core is received in the cover housing. The phase change core is designed to change the phase state thereof while receiving thermal energy from the fuel guide region. The phase change core is designed for phase change at a temperature of more than 60° C.

Abstract: A panel comprises a swellable sealing lip. The panel comprises a panel top side and a panel bottom side and at least four panel edges arranged mutually facing each other in pairs, with complementary retaining profiles provided in pairs at the mutually facing panel edges, wherein the retaining profiles are configured such that at a retaining profile of one panel further panels with a complementary retaining profile can be mounted. In this case, at least one retaining profile comprises a swellable sealing lip at least partially along its longitudinal axis. Moreover, an arrangement of such panels and a method for producing such panels are proposed. In summary, the above-described panel has the advantage that panel joints can be protected against ingress and penetration of liquids in a particularly good and easy way without applying permanent, additional stresses to the connection of joined retaining profiles.

Abstract: Methods for forming sintered-bonded high temperature coatings over ceramic turbomachine components are provided, as are ceramic turbomachine components having such high temperature coatings formed thereover. In one embodiment, the method includes the step or process of removing a surface oxide layer from the ceramic component body of a turbomachine component to expose a treated surface of the ceramic component body. A first layer of coating precursor material, which has a solids content composed predominately of at least one rare earth silicate by weight percentage, is applied to the treated surface. The first layer of the coating precursor material is then heat treated to sinter the solids content and form a first sintered coating layer bonded to the treated surface. The steps of applying and sintering the coating precursor may be repeated, as desired, to build a sintered coating body to a desired thickness over the ceramic component body.

Abstract: Grafted, asymmetric, porous, ultra high molecular weight polyethylene membranes having a bubble point between about 5.38 bar (78 psi) and 11.03 bar (160 psi) are disclosed. Monomers are grafted to the porous polymeric membrane surfaces, the monomers having one or more of neutral groups or ion exchange groups grafted to one or more surfaces of the membrane. A combination of two photoinitiators can be used to graft the monomers to the asymmetric, porous, ultra high molecular weight membrane resulting in grafted microporous membranes that have water flow rates that are at least 50% of the water flow rate of an ungrafted, asymmetric, porous ultra high molecular weight polyethylene membrane. The grafted membrane also wets in water.

In accordance with at least certain embodiments, a multilayer dry process polyethylene/polypropylene/polyethylene microporous separator which is manufactured using the inventive process which includes machine direction stretching followed by transverse direction stretching and a subsequent calendering step as a means to reduce the thickness of the multilayer microporous membrane, to reduce the percent porosity of the multilayer microporous membrane in a controlled manner and/or to improve transverse direction tensile strength.

Abstract: Described herein is a system and method for tuning light scatter in an optically functional porous layer of an LED. The layer comprises a non-light absorbing material structure having a plurality of sub-micron pores and a polymer matrix. The non-light absorbing material forms either a plurality of micron-sized porous particles dispersed throughout the layer or a mesh slab, wherein a plurality of sub-micron pores is located within each micron-sized porous particle or forms an interconnected network of sub-micron pores within the mesh slab, respectively. A polymer matrix, such as a high refractive index silicone fills the plurality of sub-micron pores creating an interface between the materials. Refractive index differences between the materials allow for light scatter to occur at the interface of the materials. Light scatter can also be decreased as a function of temperature, creating a system for tuning light scatter in both an off state and on state of an LED.

Abstract: The invention relates to a porous hydrogel matrix having substantially interconnected tunnel-shaped micropores with a three-dimensional configuration of an interconnected hollow tetrapod network. Such matrices may be used to entrap motile cells that migrate into the micropores of said matrix. The matrices of the invention are formed by a method comprising the steps of providing a solution of a hydrogel-forming material, providing a template material with a three-dimensional configuration corresponding to the negative configuration of the desired interconnected porous structure of the hydrogel material, said template material comprising interconnected zinc oxide tetrapod (t-ZnO) networks, casting the solution of hydrogel-forming material onto the template and removing the template material from the hydrogel material by acid hydrolysis of the template material.

Abstract: Provided is a blow-molding method capable of suppressing generation of blister-like bubbles and producing a high quality hollow molded article when forming a thick hollow molded article by blow-molding. A blow-molding method includes setting a die-slit interval in a die head according to a target wall thickness of a hollow molded article to be molded, extruding a molten resin in an accumulator into a cylindrical shape from the die slit to form a parison, and molding the parison in a mold. The die-slit interval is made smaller than a value set according to the target wall thickness at start of extrusion, and then is increased to match the value set according to the target wall thickness. The value set according to the target wall thickness is preferably corrected considering wall thickness reduction due to drawdown. The wall thickness of the hollow molded article is preferably 3.5 mm or more.

Abstract: A chemical-mechanical polishing pad comprising a polyurethane polishing layer having a high storage modulus at low temperatures and a low storage modulus at high temperatures is disclosed. For example, the disclosed pad embodiments may be fabricated from a thermoplastic polyurethane having a ratio of storage modulus at 25 degrees C. to storage modulus at 80 degrees C. of 50 or more. The thermoplastic polyurethane polishing layer may further optionally have a Shore D hardness of 70 or more, a tensile elongation of 320 percent or less, a storage modulus at 25 degrees C. of 1200 MPa or more, and/or a storage modulus at 80 degrees C. of 15 MPa or less.
Abstract: A container structure having one or more sections and a method for manufacturing such a structure is provided. Using an additive manufacturing process, a mold material is applied to produce a shaped substrate in the form of the desired sections and/or structure. Multiple reinforcement members are disposed within the substrate and extend between and are at least partially exposed at the inner and outer substrate surfaces. A coating material is applied to the inner and outer substrate surfaces and bonds to the exposed portions of the reinforcement members. The mold material is removed and replaced with another material among the reinforcement members between the substrate coatings.
Abstract: A breathable waterproof stretchable multi-layer foam construct includes a stretchable closed-cell foam layer having a first face and a second face. A plurality of vents are dispersed across the foam layer, with each vent extending through the foam layer from a first end at the first face to a second end at the second face. A first breathable waterproof stretchable fabric laminate is bonded by adhesive to the foam layer and covering the first end of each vent at the first face. A second breathable waterproof stretchable fabric laminate is bonded by adhesive to the foam layer and covering the second end of each vent at the second face. The breathable waterproof stretchable multi-layer foam construct can be used to fabricate such articles as floatation-assist devices, sports apparel and water immersion suits.
Abstract: In some examples, a coating may include at least one feature that facilitates visual determination of a thickness of the coating. For example, the coating may include a plurality of microspheres disposed at a predetermined depth of the coating. The plurality of microspheres may define a distinct visual characteristic. By inspecting the coating and viewing at least one of the microspheres, the thickness of the coating may be estimated. In some examples, the plurality of microspheres may be embedded in a matrix material, and the distinct visual characteristic of the microspheres may be different than the visual characteristic of the matrix material. In other examples, the at least one feature may include at least one distinct layer in the coating system that includes a distinct visual characteristic, such as a color of the distinct layer.

Abstract: Continuous fiber tow structures are used to form lattice reinforcing bodies to be embedded in a molded polymer matrix. The lattice structures are formed and shaped to reinforce a portion of a predetermined three-dimensional article. Optionally, some or all of the tow members of the structure may be formed with internal vascular passages for passage of a heat transfer fluid through the structure in the function of the molded polymer article. A liquid polymer is molded around the lattice structure, fully embedding the structure. The liquid polymer which may contain short-reinforcing fibers, is then solidified to form the composite reinforced polymer article. And connections may be made to the composite article for the flow of the fluid through vascular passages in the lattice structure within the article.

Abstract: An information processing method for generating slice data in a shaping apparatus configured to manufacture a three-dimensional object including a shaping object by sequentially stacking shaping materials based on the slice data generated for each layer, the information processing method including the steps of: acquiring cross-sectional data; judging the presence/absence of a support required region; determining a type of the support to be disposed in the support required region; and generating, as the slice data of a target layer, image data including a structure region indicating the cross-section of the shaping object in the target layer and a support region indicating the cross-section of the support.
Abstract: A microparticle for cell encapsulation is provided, having a core which comprises continuous fibers of decellularized extracellular matrix (ECM) and, optionally, an outer layer. Also provided are methods of encapsulating cells in the microparticle, pharmaceutical compositions comprising the microparticle, and methods of treating disease in animals employing the microparticles of the invention, for example, treating Diabetes.

Abstract: A coextrusion film has a core layer made of thermoplastic elastomer, and first and second outer layers sandwiching the core layer. The outer layers are each formed from a polymer having a lower elasticity than the thermoplastic elastomer of the core, each have a layer thickness of less than 15 ?m, each have a density of less than 0.800 g/cm3, and each have more than 500 gas-filled cells per 1 cubic millimeter of volume.
Abstract: An improved multilayer ceramic capacitor is described. The multilayered ceramic capacitor comprises first internal electrodes and second internal electrodes. The first internal electrodes and said second internal electrodes are parallel with dielectric there between. A first external termination is in electrical connection with the first internal electrodes and a second external termination is in electrical contact with the second internal electrodes. A closed void layer, comprising at least one closed void, is between electrodes.
Abstract: Provided are a filter medium for an air filter capable of having extended life even when composed of embossable material. The filter medium (1) has a tensile elongation of 10% or greater, and includes a main collection layer (30) having a filing rate of 5% to 15%, a thickness of 0.35 mm to 0.70 mm, and a peak in a fiber diameter distribution at less than 1.0 ?m and a peak at 1.0 ?m or greater. An average fiber diameter of small fiber diameters of less than 1.0 ?m is from 0.1 ?m to less than 0.8 ?m, and an average fiber diameter of large fiber diameters of 1.0 ?m or greater is from 1.2 ?m to less than 3.0 ?m. A volume ratio of the fibers having the small fiber diameter to the fibers having the large fiber diameter is from 30:70 to 80:20.
Abstract: Methods and combinations of mattress support surfaces comprising one or more flexible polyurethane foam layers containing highly thermally-conductive solids, such as diamond or silicon carbide, and said layer combination is capable of transferring heat from a warm surface, such as a person sleeping on a bed, to a cooler region at a faster rate throughout the mattress than the thermal dissipation rate obtained from flexible polyurethane foam without highly thermally-conductive solids.

Abstract: A transparent heat-shielding/heat-insulating member includes a transparent substrate 11 and, from the transparent substrate side, an infrared reflective layer 12 and a protective layer 18 in this order. The protective layer 18 includes, from the infrared reflective layer side, a medium refractive index layer 13, a high refractive index layer 14 and a low refractive index layer 15 in this order. The medium refractive index layer 13 has a light refractive index at a wavelength of 550 nm of 1.45 to 1.55 and a thickness of 80 to 200 nm. The high refractive index layer 14 has a light refractive index at a wavelength of 550 nm of 1.65 to 1.95 and a thickness of 100 to 350 nm. The low refractive index layer 15 has a light refractive index at a wavelength of 550 nm of 1.30 to 1.45 and a thickness of 70 to 150 nm.
Abstract: Provided is an adhesive agent composition comprising: a copolymer in which a polar functional group-containing monomer is polymerized by the content ratio of 10 weight parts to 50 weight parts with respect to 100 weight parts of a (meth)acrylic acid ester-based monomer; thermally conductive inorganic fillers; and a hollow glass filler or gas bubbles. Also provided is a method for preparing the adhesive agent composition, comprising the steps of: preparing a copolymer by polymerizing a polar functional group-containing monomer by the content ratio of 10 weight parts to 50 weight parts with respect to 100 weight parts of a (meth)acrylic acid ester-based monomer; adding thermally conductive inorganic fillers, a surface-active agent, a photoinitiator, and a photocuring agent to the copolymer to prepare a mixture; and adding a hollow glass filler or injecting gas bubbles into the mixture.
