Abstract: A continuous fiber composite is described and methods for forming the continuous fiber composite. The continuous fiber composite includes a plurality of unidirectionally aligned continuous fibers embedded within a polyarylene sulfide polymer. The continuous fiber composite includes a very high loading of continuous fibers, for instance greater than about 40% by weight of the continuous fiber composite. The continuous fiber composite is formed by reacting a starting polyarylene sulfide with a reactively functionalized disulfide compound in a melt processing unit. Reaction between the starting polyarylene sulfide and the reactively functionalized disulfide compound leads to formation of a reactively functionalized polyarylene sulfide. Upon embedding of the continuous fibers into the reactively functionalized polyarylene sulfide, the reactivity of the polyarylene sulfide can enhance adhesion between the polyarylene sulfide polymer and the fibers.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing PET based on titanium catalyst having acceptable properties for resin used in the production of bottles for beverages. More particularly the invention relates to a process in which the incoming pre-polymer temperature is higher than the final outlet temperature in the final melt phase polycondensation reactor.

Abstract: A transparent article includes a continuous polyester matrix having at least one incompatible filler dispersed therein. The incompatible filler provides domains in the polyester matrix, each domain having a particular dimension, thus providing a range of dimensions for the domains in the article. To create haze, the dimensions are within the range of from about 380 nm to about 720 nm. Once the range of dimensions is determined, a light absorbent composition can be found which absorbs light at a range of wavelengths that at least substantially covers the range of dimensions of the domains. In doing so, it has been found that the haze of the article can be substantially masked. Method for producing the article and for masking the haze are also provided.

Abstract: An apparatus for generating electrical energy includes at least one generator connected to a drive device. The drive device includes at least one guide element for transforming the energy of a flowing medium into a rotational movement. The guide element is arranged in the flow path of the heated exhaust air coming from at least one heat exchanger.

Abstract: A hose for transporting refrigerant of this invention is a hose comprising an inner tube layer including a gas barrier layer and a rubber layer adjacent to an outer surface of the gas barrier layer. The rubber layer comprises a rubber composition comprising from 1 to 15 parts by mass of an alkylphenol-formaldehyde resin and from 1 to 8 parts by mass of a hydrotalcite per 100 parts by mass of a raw rubber. The raw rubber comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of a BIMS and a butyl rubber and/or a halogenated butyl rubber, which is a copolymer rubber. The gas barrier layer comprises a polyamide resin composition comprising a modified polyamide obtained by blending a polyamide and a carboxyl group-containing modified polyolefin. The hose for transporting refrigerant of this invention has superior adhesion between the gas barrier layer and the rubber layer.
