Abstract: A water dispersible nonwoven web is disclosed. The nonwoven web is produced in an airlaying process and contains pulp fibers mixed with water soluble fibers. The water soluble fibers may be, for instance, polyvinyl alcohol fibers. The nonwoven web may be pre-saturated with a cleaning solution. Once pre-saturated with a cleaning solution, the wiping product is particularly well suited to cleaning and/or disinfecting surfaces, such as toilet seats prior to use. Because the nonwoven web is water dispersible, the wiper may be disposed of by being flushed down a toilet.

Abstract: A transport belt and method of making a transport belt for a web-processing machine, in particular a paper machine, paperboard machine or tissue machine, is provided. The transport belt has a load-bearing carrier structure which is covered at least in sections by a polymer areal structure, as the result of which the polymer areal structure and the load-bearing carrier structure make contact with each other in sections either indirectly or directly. The contact region between the load-bearing carrier structure and the polymer areal structure comprises sections in which the carrier structure can move relative to the polymer areal structure.

  • Patent number: 7225487
Abstract: A mattress, foundation, or other upholstered sleep product or article includes a core and barrier material surrounding the core. The barrier material includes flame and heat-resistant material that is configured to prevent combustion of the core when the upholstered article is impinged with a gas flame according to California Technical Bulletin 603 of the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs. The barrier material may include an intumescent material that is configured to swell and char in the presence of a flame so as to form a barrier to the flame and to heat generated by the flame.

  • Patent number: 7214633
Abstract: Textile materials, including paper webs, treated with a polyvinylamine polymer and a second agent that interacts with the polyvinylamine polymer is disclosed. The second agent added with the polyvinylamine polymer can be, for instance, a polymeric anionic reactive compound or a polymeric aldehyde-functional compound. When incorporated into a paper web, the combination of the polyvinylamine polymer and the second agent provide improved strength properties, such as wet strength properties. In an alternative embodiment, the polyvinylamine polymer and the second polymer can be applied to a textile material for increasing the affinity of the textile material for acid dyes.

  • Patent number: 7169265
Abstract: A method for manufacturing resin-impregnated endless belt structures and belt structures designed for use on a long nip press on a papermaking machine and for other papermaking and paper processing applications, requires the application of a sacrificial material onto a base substrate in a predetermined pattern in droplets having an average diameter of 10? (10 microns) or more. Polymeric resin material is then deposited on the base substrate to cover all areas except those on which the sacrificial material has been previously applied. The polymeric resin material is then set by means appropriate to its composition, and the sacrificial material removed. Optionally, the polymeric resin material may then be abraded to provide the belt with a uniform thickness, and a smooth, macroscopically monoplanar surface.

  • Patent number: 7144979
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a grafting process comprising the formation of a grafted polymeric structure having a substrate polymer in hybrid formation with one or more of the same or other polymers or monomeric subunits thereof. More particularly, the present invention contemplates a method of generating a homogenous or heterogenous grafted polymer by inducing or otherwise facilitating free radical formation to initiate polymerization of monomer units corresponding to the same or different polymers to a substrate polymer previously subjected to physical stress means. The resulting hybrid polymer may comprise a substrate polymer and a population of a second or further polymers in homogenous or heterogenous hybrid formation with the substrate polymer. A homogenous population includes a grafted population of the same polymer whereas a heterogenous population comprises a grafted population of two or more different polymers.
