Abstract: A multifunctional, responsive functional layer on a substrate, such as textiles, paper and plastic materials, includes at least one first and a second functional component, of which at least one of the second functional components meets the chemical-functional and constitutional specification for responsive behavior and thereby can be reversibly switched by an outer stimulus. The first and second functional components differ with respect to the intrinsically specified properties thereof and are matched to each other, wherein at least one of the functional components on the substrate is present as a physical-chemical compound. Methods are disclosed for producing the multifunctional, responsive functional layer, which enable the combination of functions, such as moisture management, soil release, antistatic, hydrophobicity, hydrophilicity, oleophobicity, controlled release, and conductivity.

Abstract: A TPU composition comprising two or more TPU polymers is disclosed. The TPU composition gives a broad process window for melt coating applications. The blend of TPUs give better processing than either of the individual TPU polymers used in the blend alone. This results in melt coating which gives less matt and glossy streaks and allows faster coating speeds along with lower coating weight. The two or more TPU polymers used in the blend have a different soft segment. The different soft segment is created by using different molecular weight polyol for the TPU polymers or by using chemically different polyols.

  • Patent number: 8011115
Abstract: A fiber-web machine dryer section has a drying group with single-wire draw so the drying wire (F) presses the web (W) against heated cylinder surfaces with the web (W) at the side of the outside curve of reversing cylinders (11) situated between drying cylinders (10, 12). A pocket space (T) is formed between two adjacent drying cylinders (10) and a reversing cylinder (11) situated between them, and the drying wire (F). A negative pressure component (20) placed in the pocket space (T) creates a pressure difference over the drying wire (F) and the web (W) for attaching the web (W) to the drying wire (F) so the cross-direction shrinkage of the web (W) is controllable. The wire tension (F) is maintained at a level help control cross-direction shrinkage of the web. The pocket space (T) is sealed by sealing members (25, 26) to maintain negative pressure in the pocket space.
