Abstract: A gear arrangement for a planetary gearbox includes a planet carrier, a planet pin, a planet gear, bearing means located between the planet pin and the planet gear, the bearing means including a bearing ring, a retainer secured to the planet carrier by one or more bolts, and one or more shims located between the retainer and the planet pin. The planet pin is hollow and is in fluid communication with an inside surface of the bearing ring and with an inlet. This means that a fluid forced via the inlet and the hollow planet pin applies a radial force to the bearing ring, reducing the contact friction between the bearing ring and the planet pin and allowing an axial position of the planet pin to be adjusted to provide a correct preloading to the bearing means. This means that the bearing can be pre-set, in-situ using hydraulic actuator and oil injection.

Abstract: A parallel eccentric electro-mechanical actuator provides motive power and includes an electric prime mover that drives the reducer's pinion gear. This pinion drives minimum three star gears with stationary shaft bearings. Each shaft contains an eccentric which are completely in parallel with each other. These eccentrics can be thought of as parallel/in-phase driven crankshafts. Each eccentric drives the parallel eccentric (PE) gear through a bearing. The PE gear exhibits a circular motion (without rotation) which in itself is unbalanced. The crankshafts have another eccentric which create an opposite inertia force to balance that of the PE gear. The PE gear contains an external toothed gear on its periphery. It meshes with the internal teeth of the output ring gear. The relative motion between the PE gear and the ring gear is that the PE gear rolls inside the ring gear. This relative motion is called hypo-cycloidal motion.

Abstract: A vehicular power transmitting system including an oil pump constructed to sufficiently reduce a required drive torque. A high-pressure-port discharge amount of first and second high-pressure passages of the oil pump is determined such that an amount of consumption of working oil of relatively high pressure can be afforded only by the high-pressure-port discharge amount, during steady-state running of a vehicle in which engine speed is not lower than a predetermined threshold value corresponding to a predetermined lowest target input shaft speed of a continuously variable transmission for its shifting control. The pressure of the working oil discharged from first and second low-pressure discharge passages is kept at a predetermined low level, and the required drive torque of the oil pump is sufficiently reduced.

Abstract: A mechanical energy storage system and an electric or hybrid vehicle with an energy storage system of this type are provided. The energy storage system has a planetary gear. The sun wheel of same is connected to an electric motor of the vehicle. An outer wheel of the planetary gear is connected to a wheel drive of the vehicle. The planet wheels are connected rigidly to one another via a planet wheel linkage. To increase the flywheel mass, the planet wheels have “flywheel mass regions” which have a larger diameter than a gearwheel region situated between the sun wheel and the outer wheel. Due to these flywheel mass regions, a considerable amount of rotational energy may be stored in the rotating planet wheels with the planetary gear. Such a storage of kinetic energy is intended to improve a degree of recuperation or the starting characteristics of an electric vehicle.
