  • Patent number: 8950118
Abstract: A gate adjustment system has a bull-nose glide, a flat glide, a plurality of spacers, a gap size gauge, and a gap adjustment wedge. The glides are attached to the latch post and the latch side of a gate opposite one another. As the gate is shut, the bull-nose portion of the bull-nose glide impacts the rounded edge of the flat glide. The two curved surfaces allow the impact force to cause the gate to be lifted and pushed back into alignment. The gap adjustment wedge can be positioned between the top of the latch side and the latch post and pushed downwards into the gap until the gap is uniform from the top to the bottom. The gap size gauge then measures the size of the gap and that measurement is used to determine which of the plurality of spacers should be installed with the glides.

  • Patent number: 8448382
Abstract: A device for transferring electrical power between a frame and a closable member such as a door includes a first housing and face plate disposed in an opening in the frame and a second housing and face plate disposed in an opening in the closable member edge. The openings are positioned so that when the closable member is closed the openings are aligned. A hollow elbow assembly is rotatably disposed and secured in each hole. A tube having a pivot guide at each end is rotatably and axially slidable in each elbow assembly. A slot in each elbow assembly allows the tube to pivot. A wire bundle in the tube is connectable to wire leads. Boots may be supplied around the tube/elbow assemblies' junctions to exclude water. Thus, the wire bundle is fully contained within a protective, articulated, armored sheath to prevent wear, chafing, breakage, and vandalism.

  • Patent number: 8413382
Abstract: A second hinge plate supported pivotally on a first hinge plate using a shaft member so as to open and close. In the second hinge plate, a bracket is molded integrally at the upper edge of the end opposite the shaft member. A vertical shaft of a hold-stay rod is loosely fitted into a shaft hole of the bracket so as to move rotationally and slide in a vertical direction. A horizontal shaft of the hold-stay rod is inserted into a guide hole of a guide plate welded to the first hinge plate and slidable, and a stopper is folded and formed at the leading end of the hold-stay rod. The stopper is inserted into an engaging hole by movement from a guide to a receiving plate due to the opening movement of the second hinge plate and can be taken out from the engaging hole by a pushing-up operation.

Abstract: A door check system includes a rod interconnecting a door assembly and a body of a vehicle. The door check system secures the position of the door at any location along a swing path of the door, between a fully open position and a fully closed position. The door check system includes a rod interconnecting the door assembly and the body. A coil spring is disposed about the rod, with the rod extending through a central aperture thereof. An actuator is coupled to the coil spring and configured for tightening and loosening the coil spring about the rod. When the actuator tightens the spring about the rod, the spring grasps the rod and secures the position of the door assembly relative to the body. When the actuator loosens the spring from about the rod, the door assembly is free to move along the swing path.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hybrid hinge. The hybrid hinges 7, 8 are used for rotatably adjoining segments S1, S2, S1 of a suitable electronic apparatus. The hybrid hinge 7, 8 comprise respective rigid hinges 2, 4 arranged to rotate the segments S1, S2, respectively S2, S1? about respective shafts 2, 4. The hybrid hinges further comprise respective elastic hinges having respective portions 3a, 3b, 3c and 5a, 5b, 5c. Preferably, a central portion 3b, 5b of the elastic hinges is arranged to coincide with the shaft 2a, 4a. More preferably, the elastic hinges are arranged to seal an interface between the segments S1, S2 and S2, S1? in the area of the rigid hinge. The invention further relates to an electronic device comprising the hybrid hinge.

Abstract: Disclosed is a damper and an opening/closing apparatus and a financial device using the same. The damper has first and second bodies mounted on fixed and rotatable objects, respectively, to perform a damping action during an end of the rotation range of opening/closing the rotatable object, abrupt operation of which is thus prevented. The first body has a damping space filled with a damping material and fixed and movable friction plates are installed in the damping space so that the movable friction plate rotates together with a rotation center shaft in a specific range. First and second interlock surfaces are positioned on opposite sides of the rotation center shaft, and first and second interlock stages are formed at a predetermined angle on both stages of the inner surface of a shaft through-hole of the movable friction plate so as to selectively contact the interlock surfaces, respectively.

  • Patent number: 8365468
Abstract: A metal shutter with improved air and light transmission is provided. The shutter comprises a metal top, a metal bottom, and two metal sides, which can be collectively assembled into a frame. The frame can have a metal support column that can be affixed to the top and bottom. A number of metal slats can be affixed between the sides of the shutter, and can either pass through the center column or can be affixed to the center column. A hinge can be affixed to the top of the frame, and can also be affixed to a structure. The top, bottom, sides, support column, slats, hinge, and a lock all comprise the shutter. The hinge allows the shutter to rotate between a first, substantially vertical, position, and a second, non-vertical position. The lock holds the shutter to a structure when the shutter is in the first position.

  • Publication number: 20130014443
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a main body, a document board to open and close an upper side of the main body while being pivoted, and a shock absorber to reduce impact generated when the document board closes the upper side of the main body, wherein the shock absorber includes a link pivotably mounted, at a first end thereof, to the document board while guide protrusions are formed at a second end thereof, and a guide slot formed so that each guide protrusion is movable. Since the guide slot applies a pressure gradually increased from the first end side of the guide slot to the second end side thereof, to the guide protrusion, a speed of the guide protrusion and a pivoting speed of the document board are restricted below a certain speed when the upper side of the main body is closed through the document board.
