  • Patent number: 4410930
Abstract: A free standing outdoor telephone booth is provided with a photo voltaic (PV) array, one or more rechargeable storage batteries and electrical control circuit which includes a temperature compensated control for limiting the supply of electrical energy from the PV array to the rechargeable battery to avoid over charging the battery, an ambient light (solar insolation) sensing circuit for controlling the electrical lamp load, to turn the lamp ON during dark ambient and OFF during light ambient conditions. In addition, the total discharge limit of the storage battery is controlled to a safe operating limit and a means is disclosed to power a fluorescent lamp at energy conserving intensities with energy derived from the rechargeable storage battery. The lamp control circuitry is preferably constituted by a high frequency power inverter with regulated output power to energize a low wattage fluorescent lamp and to dim the fluorescent lamp when the telephone is not in use.

Abstract: Disclosed is a combination safety device and gutter protector for use with a ladder which is leaned at an angle to the wall of a house or the like, the upper ends resting laterally secure against a relatively narrow extending surface of the device and not against the outer edge of a gutter installed on the eave of a roof. The device of the invention serves to prevent slippage or other undesirable movement of a ladder when it is placed in position for use and is a support means supporting the ladder and its load directly to the fascia board of a house, rather than to the gutter. The device is an "H" shaped support means attached to a gutter backwall and to a fascia board and is composed of two spaced apart stanchions and a crossmember, each of the stanchions having a longitudinal passageway thereto and an elongated spike disposed in the passageway. One end of the spike protrudes through the gutter backwall and is embedded in the fascia board.

  • Patent number: 4027438
Abstract: The invention relates to building structures and, more particularly, to the transverse frame of an industrial building carcass wherein columns carry a crossbar and a supporting member of the building roof arranged above said crossbar. The column portions located above the crossbar are rigidly connected with the latter, forming a U-shaped frame which rests through hinges on the column portions located below the crossbar and the roof supporting member is thrust tightly between the free ends of said U-shaped frame. This layout of the transverse frame reduces the height of the crossbar section to the dimensions which allow it to be carried by rail without separating it longitudinally thus reducing the amount of erection work during the construction of industrial building carcasses and diminishing their height. Such a transverse frame is lighter than the known frames of the same type.
