    Abstract: A single layer foldable reinforced bullnose hip and ridge cap shingle is cut from a single layer web of shingle material. The hip and ridge cap shingle includes an exposed portion, a tapered portion, and a portion in between that will be folded to form a bullnose edge. Two spaced apart perforated fold lines extend transversely across the shingle and two spaced apart transversely extending strips of reinforcing scrim material flank the perforated fold lines. To form a bullnose hip or ridge cap shingle, the shingle is folded first along one of the perforated fold lines and again along the other perforated fold line. This creates an exposed edge portion that is four layers thick and this extreme edge takes on a pleasant rounded bullnose appearance covered with granules. The reinforcing scrim is located at the edge and reinforces the bullnose edge to prevent cracking at the fold.

After the structure is installed, the base is aligned with photovoltaic portions of BIPV modules in one row and bridges a gap between photovoltaic portions of BIPV modules in two adjacent rows. The connectors may be used to interconnect BIPV modules positioned at the ends of two adjacent rows.

Unique features of the shape and structure of the shingle also make it particularly suited to hip and ridge applications.     Abstract: A leak locating shingle comprises a body portion of the shingle with three tabs extending from a lower edge of the shingle. The upper corners of the body portion are trimmed at an angle. When two leak locating shingles are placed side by side, a water-trapping groove is created where the trimmed upper corners meet. If a leak occurs, water runs along the top edge of a shingle, until it encounters a water-trapping groove where the flow of the water trail is interrupted, due to the loss of a continuous path along the upper edge of the shingles. As water accumulates in the water-trapping groove, any water overflow occurs at the bottom of the water-trapping groove, causing the water to run over the top of the shingles. This limits the range of the water trail, and allows roof repair workers to more easily locate and repair the leak.

The inserts of multiple shingles are electrically coupled together to form an electrical grid for aggregating the electrical energy of the individual solar collectors and delivering it to a remote location for storage or use. In a second embodiment, a shingle has a solar collector strip mounted to its surface extending along a forward edge of the shingle, and in another, the solar collector surrounds the tabs of their shingles. The solar collectors not only generate electrical energy from the sun; they also enhance the appearance of a shingled roof by providing a look of increased thickness and texture.
