Abstract: An object of this invention is to provide an organic EL device material stable against heat, having a high purity in bluish light emission and a high efficiency. The organic EL device comprises a glass substrate, a transparent anode, a TPD which is an electron hole implanted transporting layer, an organic luminous layer, Alq.sub.3 which is an electron implanted transporting layer and a cathode. The organic luminous layer is an aluminum complex which is .mu.-oxozi [bis(2-(2-benzo oxazolyl)-phenolate) aluminum (III)]. Plus and minus DC voltages are applied to the anode and cathode respectively. The organic luminous layer indicates bluish light emission of 1314 cd/m.sup.2 at 16V. A peak wave length of the luminous spectrum is 420 nm and chromaticity coordinates are x=0.185 and y=0.178 and a high purity as bluish color is assured. The organic EL device material is stable against heat and difficult to deteriorate.

Abstract: The instant invention provides a homologation process for making a zincate homoenolate from a carbon bound enolate zincate, by treating the carbon bound enolate zincate with an alkoxy lithium reagent. The homologation step can be coupled with a homoaldol reaction, as well as with other transmetallation reactions, in a one pot process. The zincate homoenolate is a useful intermediate in the preparation of a variety of different end-products, such as HIV protease inhibitors and renin inhibitors.

Abstract: Dilute solutions of 0.5 to about 5% by weight of at least one 3-isothiazolone selected from the group consisting of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothazolin-3-one and 2-methyl-4-isothazolin-3-one are stabilized without using inorganic metal salts or hydrogen peroxide by forming a microemulsion composition with organic solvent(s) having less than 6 percent by weight solubility in water; anionic surfactant(s); and optionally, non-ionic surfactant(s).
Abstract: There is disclosed a process for producing a 2-(tetrazol-5-yl)-4-oxo-4H-benzopyran of general formula (1): ##STR1## which comprises reacting a hydroxyacetophenone of general formula (2): ##STR2## with a tetrazole compound of general formula (3): ##STR3## in the presence of a base in a solvent composed mainly of at least one selected from hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons and alcohols, and then treating the reaction mixture under acidic conditions.
Abstract: Compounds having a 5 membered, nitrogen containing ring with a thione group adjacent to a nitrogen atom substituted with an OR group have antimicrobial properties. Metal complexes or salts of these compounds also have antimicrobial properties. The compounds, or the metal complexes or salts thereof, can be used as a cutting fluid preservative, a wood preservative, in cooling water applications or as an antimicrobial agent in a paint. Some of the compounds are new. The metal complexes or salts are new.
Abstract: An anionic initiator system formed by the reaction product of: (1) an organolithium compound with (2) the reaction product of (a) a secondary amine and (b) diisopropenyl benzene, initiates polymerization to produce a polymer containing tertiary amine functional sites incorporated at the head of the polymer chain. A subclass of these polymers can be compounded to exhibit reduced hysteresis over conventionally prepared polymers.

Abstract: A new class of organometallic complexes with built-in fluorescent dye for use in electroluminescent (EL) devices and a method of preparation are disclosed. An organometallic complex with built-in fluorescent dye as guest dopant is introduced into an organic EL device by thoroughly pre-mixing it with a host organometallic emitter in a certain ratio and co-depositing it from a single source. The organometallic complex with built-in fluorescent dye determines the emission color of the EL device.
Abstract: This invention relates to substituted dihydropyridazinones, pyridazinones and related compounds, of the formula ##STR1## wherein A, Q, D and R.sup.1 are as defined within, compositions containing these compounds and methods of controlling agricultural and mammalian fungal diseases.

Abstract: Novel ruthenium complexes for use as immunosuppressive agents to prevent or significantly reduce graft rejection in organ and bone marrow transplantation are described. The ruthenium complexes can also be used as an immunosuppressant drug for T-lymphocyte mediated autoimmune diseases, such as diabetes, and may be useful in alleviating psoriasis and contact dermatitis.
