    Abstract: Systems, components, and methods are disclosed for withdrawing drug from a liquid drug container and transferring drug to a medical device. One or more components may have keying features so that only the correct liquid drug container and medical device are accessed, making sure the medical device is filled with the correct drug. A syringe needle hub may have keying features corresponding to keying features on a cap on the liquid drug container and on the medical device. An alignment device facilitates easy-to-operate filling of a medical device. The alignment device aligns a liquid drug container over a fill port of the medical device and can include components for moving the liquid drug container into engagement with the medical device and for automatically initiating drug transfer to the medical device. A retractable skirt or needle cover protects the needle and is unlocked only when the skirt or needle cover is close to or touching the medical device.

The valve may be configured to shape the first tube to form a valve region which is opened or closed by an actuating element in the valve that is driven by hydrostatic pressure from the second tube. A full second container may generate a pressure that is concentrated through a diaphragm onto a pin which presses on the shaped first tube region, closing it to allow only fluid from the second container to flow. When the fluid level in the second line falls reducing pressure, the pin's force reduces until the first tube is opened.

    Abstract: A dosing unit for an ambulatory infusion system, including a metering pump unit including a dosing cylinder and a piston, the piston in sealing sliding engagement inside the dosing cylinder; a valve unit having a filling port and a draining port, the filling port being couplable with a liquid drug reservoir, the draining port being couplable with an infusion site interface, and a shut-off body movable between a filling position where it couples the filling port with the dosing cylinder and a draining position where it couples the dosing cylinder with the draining port; and a valve driver coupler coupled to or integral with the shut-off body and being the output element of a step switching mechanism. Also disclosed is a drive unit that may be used in combination with a dosing unit, an ambulatory infusion system and a method for coupling a dosing unit and a drive unit.

The differentials after one or more motor moves can be compared to determine whether an occlusion is present. In a delivery mode such as bolus insulin delivery in which an entire volume of fluid is delivered, pressure differentials can be obtained for consecutive deliveries at a common point in the delivery cycle of each delivery. Comparison of these pressure values can be used to determine whether an occlusion is present.
