Abstract: A one-way valve (1) comprises a seat (5) and a membrane (4) having an inner portion (4a) that is stretched over the seat, wherein, in use, the inner membrane portion is selectively deflected from the seat such that a fluid path is created from one side of the membrane to the other so as to open the valve, and wherein an outer peripheral portion (4b) of the membrane is stiffer than the inner portion such that the membrane deflection is substantially restricted to only the inner portion. The one-way valve may be used in a pump for an infusion system.

Abstract: The present invention includes systems, devices and methods for mechanically interfacing between a pump and an infusion kit or conduit, and methods and materials for producing same. According to some embodiments of the present invention, there may be provided a mechanical pump-tube interface unit adapted to detachably connect to a pump. The mechanical pump-tube interface unit may be adapted to hold a fluid conduit/tube positioned such that when the interface is attached to a pump the pumping mechanism of the pump acts upon the fluid in the tube. A mechanical pump-tube interface unit may include physical adaptations designed to prevent longitudinal and/or rotational movement, in relation to the unit, of a fluid conduit/tube held by or attached to the interface unit. According to further embodiments, a segment of conduit/tube may be attached/connected to a mechanical tube-interface during the assembly of the interface unit, to form one integral unit including the conduit/tube segment secured/trapped within.

Abstract: Methods and systems of catheterization include a flexible catheter adapted for insertion into a heart of a living subject. The catheter has a lumen for passing an electrically conductive fluid therethrough with the fluid exiting the catheter at the distal portion. The lumen is connectable to an irrigation pump to form a fluid communication therewith. A fluid reservoir connected to the lumen supplies the fluid to the catheter. Electrocardiogram circuitry is connectable to the subject for monitoring electrical activity in the heart. An electrically conductive cable diverts induced charges in the fluid from the catheter electrodes, for example by connection to an isolated ground of the electrocardiogram.

Abstract: An infusion device for delivering discrete boluses of medication to a patient, using a mechanically actuated piston. The infusion pump employs a near-field communication system to convey the occurrence of an actuation, the amount of medicament remaining in the pump, and other information to a nearby near-field receiver device. The disclosed drive system and nearer-field communications system provides an infusion device capable of accurately delivering medication and providing a means for tracking and logging data while eliminating the need for a power source within the device, thereby minimizing weight and size.

Abstract: Connectors are attached to a pump housing. The pump squeezes tubing of a particular outer diameter creating a peristaltic contraction of the tubing to push the fluid in the tubing in a particular direction. The connectors hold the tubing in slots having walls that are narrower than the outer diameter of the tubing. To aid in pushing the tubing into the slots, a door is attached to the connectors that pushes the tubing into the slots while closing thereby covering the slots, which helps assure that the tubing is properly attached to the connector. Alternatively, the connector may be permanently attached to the tubing, but may be detached from the pump housing, so that as long as the connectors are connected properly, the tubing is connected properly.

Abstract: A medical syringe pump has a first processor (21) responsible for controlling infusion and a second processor (22) that functions as a watchdog to monitor operation of the first processor. A data communication connector (27) is located in the pump battery compartment (25) so that the batteries (24) have to be removed before external access can be made using an external connector (4). Removing the batteries (24) disables the infusion function of the first processor and ensures that the pump is prevented from infusing medication. When the external connector (4) is connected the first processor (21) can reprogram the second processor (22) or information about historical operation of the pump can be downloaded.
