Multiple Patents (Class 70/113)
  • Patent number: 9003843
Abstract: Disclosed in one aspect is the fixed door pull handle assembly that includes an elongated door pull handle with two or more support standoffs projecting away from the elongated door pull handle and securing the elongated door pull handle to the doorframe or to the body of the door. One of the support standoffs is user rotatable, and rotatably engages a door latch assembly within the door. In another aspect, the support standoff is not user rotatable. Instead, a center-pivoting handle is mounted in-line with one of the support standoffs and rotatably engages the door latch assembly within the door. The center-pivoting handle is recessed within the elongated handle.

  • Publication number: 20130167597
Abstract: A multi-point lock having an easy to install modular drive mechanism for bolts located at the top and bottom edges of a door in which the multi-point locking system is installed that requires only relatively simple door preparation. The bolt operating mechanism is installed into a rectangular groove cut into a lateral edge of a door which may be cut using relatively simple tools in relatively quick fashion. The multi-point lock is configured to fit doors of any size, with a single kit accommodating doors of different thicknesses, in each case, with the plug-face of the lock cylinder substantially flush with a major face of a backplate of a handle set used with a particular door.

  • Publication number: 20090113956
Abstract: A locking system for integrating into an entry door having a vertical expanse and providing simultaneous multi-port locking along the vertical expanse of the entry door. The locking system includes a rod positioned along the vertical expanse of a length at least co-extensive with a plurality of deadbolt locks positioned within the entry door. A plurality of deadbolt locks that provided space along the vertical expanse and a plurality of swing arms, each swing arm pivotally connected to the rod on first end thereof and connected to a deadbolt lock on a second end thereof. An actuator is employed for shuttling between first and second positions of the rod causing the swing arms to simultaneously extend the deadbolt locks for locking the entry door and withdrawing the deadbolt locks for unlocking the entry door.

  • Publication number: 20080078216
Abstract: An improved multipoint door lock system of the type described in U.S. Pat. No. 5,290,077 additionally includes header and sill lock pins actuated by lost motion mechanisms for respective movement from a retracted position to an advanced deadbolt locking position engaged with respective header and sill keepers, in response to movement of one or more latch bolts from a normal latched position to a further extended deadbolt position. The latch bolts are further movable between the normal latched position engaged with associated strike sets on the adjacent door jamb for maintaining the door in a closed position, and a retracted position to permit swinging movement of the door to an open position. The lost motion mechanisms associated with the header and sill pins accommodate latch bolt movement between the latched and retracted positions, without displacing the header and sill pins.

  • Patent number: 7025394
Abstract: A lock system for integrating into an entry door having a vertical expanse and providing simultaneous multi-point locking along the vertical expanse of the entry door. The lock system includes a plurality of conventional deadbolt assemblies, a plurality of pinion gears, and a rack gear. The plurality of conventional deadbolt assemblies are positioned along the vertical expanse of the entry door. The plurality of pinion gears are operatively connected to the plurality of conventional deadbolt assemblies, respectively. The rack gear is operatively connected to the plurality of pinion gears so as to allow the plurality of pinions gears to operate simultaneously and form simultaneously operated pinion gears. The simultaneously operated pinion gears simultaneously operate the plurality of conventional deadbolt assemblies to provide simultaneous multi-point locking along the vertical expanse of the entry door.

  • Patent number: 6564596
Abstract: A lock assembly has an outer cap, an inner cap, three latch devices and a transmitting device. The latch devices are mounted between the outer cap and the inner cap, and each has a cylinder and a bolt. An actuating shaft is connected to the first cylinder, and an inner handle is connected to the actuating shaft at one end of the actuating shaft corresponding to the inner cap. The transmitting device is connected to the cylinders of the latch devices to actuate the cylinders to an unlocked condition simultaneously. Accordingly, when the inner handle is rotated, the cylinders of the latch devices will be simultaneously unlocked.

  • Patent number: 6078256
Abstract: A dead-bolt receptacle unit and monitoring system which allows an operator to quickly and efficiently determine a status of a dead-bolt, i.e. whether the dead-bolt is bolted or unbolted. A dead-bolt receiving unit is provided into which a dead-bolt cylinder is inserted. A dead-bolt detecting unit is formed in a dead-bolt receiving unit, and the dead-bolt detecting unit detects a presence of the dead-bolt cylinder in the dead-bolt receiving unit. The dead-bolt detecting unit further outputs a dead-bolt detecting signal which is based on the detected presence of the dead-bolt cylinder and the dead-bolt receiving slot. A central indicator unit receives the dead-bolt detecting signals output by each dead-bolt detecting unit, and provides an indication of the status of each dead-bolt, i.e. whether each dead-bolt is bolted or unbolted. Such a system allows an operator to quickly and easily determine the status of each dead-bolt in a home.

  • Patent number: 4067212
Abstract: A two dead bolt door lock is disclosed wherein the bolts are transversely disposed and wherein the bolts are disposed one behind the other in the locked position so as to provide a secure locking mode. When door mounted, and in the locked position, a vertical bolt is disposed on the inside of the door adjacent the jamb and a horizontal bolt is mounted in the jamb. Attempts to jimmy the horizontal bolt in its line of least resistance are frustrated by the presence of the vertically locked bolt acting against the jimmying force. The locks are both operated by a single key actuated cylinder and/or hand knob through a common connection rod with coordinated cam actions. In another embodiment, keys may be employed on both the inside and the outside of the door.
